Appointments are always spaced months apart. Communication with the dentist is limited; not every visit she's able to see you. When you do see her, the exam is communicated more to staff than to you. I have pre-existing nerve damage and at increased susceptibility to local anesthetic-induced neurotoxicity. I tried to communicate this to the dental assistant at the appointment where I was being fitted for a crown, and she referred me to see a functional doctor and with the intimidating comment that it'll likely be "all or nothing with the dentist". I have a couple minor fillings needed in my two front teeth that won't require anesthetic, but that's not the full procedure they want me to have. I call up there and the receptionist doesn't return my call but cancels my long awaited for procedure, and schedules another consultation at the end of the month, which I'm only notified of via automated text. I really wanted to give this office a positive review, and have been very patient with them. I've had on my chart that I have multiple sclerosis, and have voiced my concerns best I can. I went to this "holistic" dentist thinking that they would give me more catered options to my sensitivities. I'd give them a one star review, but I'm giving them a two star because my visit with the dental hygienist went well. She discovered that I had an overgrowth of yeast, which I later learned was caused by a severe injury I had to antibiotics. Even if a functional doctor were miraculously to alleviate some of my acquired sensitivities contributing to my toxic neuropathy, this doesn't mean my minor fillings needed couldn't be addressed nor does it mean I should chance an anesthetic with my pre-existing nerve damage.

They continued to insist that I needed 9 fillings done immediately. By this point, I knew I was being lied to. While trying to leave the office, the woman at the front desk was extremely pushy about getting me to sign the forms for all the fillings I "needed." I finally just walked out. After this ordeal, I decided to go see my dentist of 26 years in my hometown. I am from a small town in Arkansas where the reputation of a business is everything. I knew my dentist there would be honest. After going in for a thorough cleaning, x rays, and an exam from my dentist, I was informed that I have ZERO cavities. My dentist even did more x rays than normal just to double check. No dental work is needed at all. All my teeth are in perfect shape. If you get nothing else from this review - GET A SECOND OPINION!!!! Clearly Dental Depot is looking for any excuse to drill into people's healthy teeth to make a profit.

Great reminders sent via text which is helpful. Dental assistants do a very good job overall. There seems to be a high turnover, so not a lot of consistency. With a young large staff that is understandable. However, Dr Emerson works closely with the assistants overseeing their work. Dr Emerson is very professional. He wants the best outcome for your teeth and will do what it takes to make it happen. He has a great memory and always seems to be up-to-date on my progress. I cannot speak to their insurance practices. However, I really appreciated being able to make monthly payments for my aligners. I highly recommend Emerson orthodontics!!

I took my daughter to Dr. Ahlert for a tooth extraction after being referred by her regular dentist…read moredue to an infection in the area. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply distressing. Before beginning the extraction, Dr. Ahlert did not appear to verify that the anesthetic had taken full effect. As soon as the procedure started, my daughter experienced significant pain and began sobbing. It was heartbreaking to watch, and I hope I never have to hear my child cry like that again. When I expressed concern that the anesthetic might not be working, the staff dismissed her pain and insisted she was only feeling "pressure." Rather than taking her distress seriously, her experience was minimized despite her obvious and intense reaction. Afterward, I learned from her regular dentist that infected areas can be more difficult to numb and often require additional anesthetic to achieve adequate pain control. Knowing this makes the experience even more troubling, as greater care should have been taken to ensure she was properly numb before proceeding. No child should have to endure avoidable pain during a dental procedure, and no parent should feel their concerns are being dismissed while their child is clearly suffering. Our experience left us deeply disappointed and upset.
