Went here on a date before moving on to the Kölner Zoo, and it was great! The restaurant is just…read moresouth of the Ebertplatz underground station and is easily accessed from the 18.
We started with an order of paneer pakora, and they came hot out of the fryers with three kinds of dipping sauce - a zesty yogurt, a spicy mint chutney, and a fruity (mango?) chutney. For mains, we ordered the Murgh Makhani (basically buttered chicken) and the Bangun Bharta (grilled eggplant that is later puréed with ginger, onions, garlic and spices). Everything had great and balanced flavours, and we got some good capsaicin heat where we wanted it. The mains come with plenty of basmati rice, which is wonderful for soaking up every last drop.
The hostess was very nice and helpful, too. I point this out because I cannot digest mushrooms or tomatoes, and she helped me find something that I could eat without causing myself stomach trouble. She even went to the kitchen to confirm with the chef.
The menu is in German and English, so no worries if you're visiting from out of town and cannot read German. It's a little on the expensive side, but I will be back again for special occasions later.
