If I could give a minus 100, I would. husband has waited over 6 hours for a transport from AnMed ER…read moreon highway 86 to main hospital. No transport yet in sight! ridiculous

My mother was visiting a neighbor's home in Anderson SC on 2/22/24 when she suffered a mild stroke…read more Medshore ambulance service was called by the homeowner and they came out to "assist" my mother. I live out of state (across the country actually) but my mother's friend called me immediately after medics arrived. They said my mother- who was who having a mild stroke - "refused to go to hospital." I was put on the phone with One of the Medshore "medics". I informed him that I was my mother's power of attorney and they asked me what I wanted them to do. I said I wanted them to do what they thought was in her best interest as I WAS NOT THERE AND COULD NOT SAFELY ASSESS THE SITUATION FROM MY VANTAGE POINT AND ASKED THEM TO USE THIER PROFESSIONAL DISCRETION. Before we hung up the phone I was under the impression that they were going to take her to the hospital. A few minutes later my mother's friend called me back and told me the ambulance service LEFT HER THERE AT THE HOUSE because my mother- WHO HAS JUST SUFFERED A MILD STROKE MIND YOU - refused to go to the hospital...... Because stroke victims have such a clear state of mind (Insert disgusted and vile sarcasm here) Had she been taken to the hospital at this time she would've had a very positive outcome as she was still conscious and coherent at the time of the mild stroke. Well, the incompetent idiots of Medshore ambulance service LEFT MY MOTHER THERE at her friend's house. A few hours later my mother suffered a MAJOR STROKE at her home and the ambulance was called again and I demanded she be rushed to the hospital!!! I was on the first flight out to her house from AZ and arrived the next day. Fast forward to two weeks later.... My mother just spent 11 days in The ICU floor at AnMed hospital and it has been a horrific experience to say the least! She has just been transferred to a rehabilitation hospital to spend the next three weeks where it is likely that she will never ever fully recover, if at all. She has only regained about 10% of her mobility and zero percent of her speech and cognitive skills. She's on a puréed diet as she can't chew or swallow well". The likelihood that she will ever be able to live on her own again is zero. Absolutely insane and incomprehensible to me that a professional ambulance medical team would leave a potential stroke victim to make their own decision under such extreme medical circumstances. They should be sued. .
