If you do not have an HR person, they can come out to help with anything you might need - recruitment, employee handbook, staff training, you name it. If you do have an HR person, they are still a wonderful organization to belong to because they can assist with any of the more tricky issues (legal woes, FLMA, worker's comp, discrimination, etc.), and provide ongoing training and support. My boss used them before he hired me to help him handle many of the HR functions of our organization, and once I came on board they helped us to develop our HR department and continue to provide aid whenever we need it. They have an "HR Hotline" when you have a question about employment law or other odd issues. They offer a yearly HR conference and a yearly Employment Law conference right here in the burbs, and both are fantastic. I've replied to texts--nothing. Or I finally get a response days later, if at all. What's most frustrating is the complete lack of follow-through. I've applied to several positions and it feels like my applications just disappear into a void with no acknowledgment or feedback whatsoever. Job searching is already stressful enough without being ignored by the very people who are supposed to help. I expected professionalism and basic communication, and unfortunately, that was not my experience.

Furthermore I received pushback when I requested reasonable accomodation and the desk I sat at was not ergonomic and I have injuries to my spine and other parts of my body due to accident. I requested to change my hours to accommodate pain as the day progress. I sent them an email with a Xray of my spine. I was hit by a car crossing the street and have gone through multiple surgeries. I recieved an email from President of company I was working at through Robert Half as a Temp! I have the email in my possession and I was shocked to say the least! It stated "Dont hire no more blacks, they don't know how to show up" The same information was verbalized to my face the next morning to which I replied this is racism. The owner/president of the company said "yeah but these guys get a girl knocked up at 19 years old and don't show up for work, don't hire anymore blacks. I was terminated a week later I got a call from Valetta stating my temp assignment had ended. I shared about the email I received and the racist statements from their client. They did not seem to be concerned and I had no folllow up and they did not ask to see the racist comments!

Though my experience with them, I was applying for a job that was listed and so I called them up to…read moresee if there was any chance left, they said that they already had someone..... but, they also said if you would like, you could come in for an interview and see if your a good fit. Less than 2 weeks later I got the job, it was extremely helpful and kind of them to let me get a chance to try even though applicants were full.
