Review #928
2025-106
My husband ordered 4 Nokian One 215/55R16 (all season tire with aramid sidewall technology that comes with an 80K-mi. warranty) tires from Fixgo.com, an online tire retailer & service provider in S. CA that offers deals & delivery to partner shops, & a brand of portable emergency tire repair kits (Fix&Go) for cars, motorcycles, & ATVs, designed as a spare tire alternative. The retailer provides tires & parts, & the repair kit offers a quick, sealant-based fix for flat tires, emphasizing convenience & space-saving over traditional spares.
The sale connected us with AAA & J Tamazula Tires to install the new tires at $19/tire, includes tire mounting & balancing, tire handling, & disposal charge. My factory tires were still within warranty period of 50K mi. at 35K mi. but the replacement under the manufacturer's tire warranty is cumbersome.
Since it's winter, we choose the Nokian One for its good grip & handling in wet & dry conditions, & supposedly providing a comfortable ride (it does). It appears the technician installed the tires properly; no improper mounting/balancing (wobbling, vibrations), vehicle damage (at least on the rims, don't know about undercarriage); however, I had ongoing "tire pressure" sensor issues. I double-/triple-checked the tires had the proper pressure (35 PSI front, 33 PSI rear) & it seems to be accurate, but the sensor stays lit.
I brought my car this week to have Tamazula look into the sensor issue. One of the technicians said they can't check the sensor because they left the machine out & it was stolen. I can see how clutter the shop is, but the machine is small & can fit inside. He said I can search the web to "recalibrate" the sensor or wait until next Wednesday when their replacement machine arrives. Why didn't they check/calibrate the sensor after installation? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Luckily, it was a fairly easy fix & the sensor is now off (hopefully it'll turn on when there's an issue).
Tamazula Tires is a mom & pop tire shop. My husband made an appointment in the late afternoon but they ran late, & he had to make a return trip over the weekend/Saturday. Even so, arriving when they opened, he still had to wait a couple of hours for the installation. I'm guessing they're using F&A Transmission Repair's lifts for the install. Customer service is ok; time management could be more punctual, but they answer your questions in a mostly helpful manner if you're persistent. I'm not sure about their in-store tires' quality, but their partnership with Fixgo.com can help you obtain quality tires from known manufacturers. I'm not sure about the going installation rate, but their price seems reasonable.
I would return for future tire installations, but I question the thoroughness/execution of the install since they're adjoined/adjacent to F&A Transmission Repair (& there's not enough info about their service quality). read more
