I had met with John Newell while still working and was impressed with his honesty and he listened to my concerns. I made a huge mistake in trusting this investment firm. They said they would automatically put in bonds/cash if the market was to tank -- Since they don't ever reach out to their clients for wellness check, I went to their office and asked the financial advisor to move me to something more safer - they recommended bonds; they didn't move it as discussed = cost me $20K. Said they needed a form signed, which I did-in their office. But somehow all of this is my fault. They finally moved me into bonds and it cost about $800 in fees. Within a month they then moved me into cash, without a signed form. sound suspicious to me!! Don't trust them! read more

I entered into an agreement with Talon Wealth Mgt to manage my portfolio investments about 3 years ago, after I lost money in previous stock crashes. I was "gun shy" but their radio broadcast seemed trustworthy. Long story short, I signed up and transferred all my money to Fidelity under their "care". Although the individuals I spoke to were nice and responded to my calls (mostly the secretaries or office managers), I never got "checking in on you" calls from my advisor, J. Newell. He was professional and would call me when I initiated or would respond to my texts but it was always the same response when I'd ask what I should do and why my portfolio was LOSING money when the markets were up. His basic response" "you're invested for the long term. I promise you we'll make you money". This was the general response from him just about every time. We met several times during those years and he would explain the markets, COVID, etc. But they traded my accounts often and generated regular fees for themselves but my portfolio was always declining. Even in the last year of management (up through last week) , when the markets were doing quite well, I was in the negative. I don't have to pretend, my records show it. I'd get all of these regular activity statements (i.e., you bought... you sold...), but I was constantly losing money. 3 years and nothing to show for it. I finally cancelled my agreement with them and am going elsewhere. Don't trust these folks' "talent". It'll cost you on your taxes and it will cost you in your portfolio value. All that activity for 3 years and I was in the negative! How is that even possible in this market!!! BTW, my other portfolio with another group was up 30% last year. read more
