To start off I am not related to any member of staff of the Tally Ho Tearooms. In fact I have never previously visited the tearooms until yesterday. We anticipated a regular sort of tearoom for a coffee and cake nothing more. What a surprise!! Everything was so well presented and fresh. We are normally very fussy when it comes to scones and especially sandwiches. If they are not fresh, we send them back. We enjoyed an Afternoon Tea and still had more after that because it was all so nice. The staff were very polite and couldn't be more helpful. A lady on the next table spilled her coffee down her (it was entirely her own doing) and the owner did everything he (decently) could to clean her up and provided her with another cup of coffee. Yes, the price is a bit high but it if you want to treat yourself occasionally, this is the place to go. We will definately go back soon. It's just a shame they don't provide more of a 'lunch' selection or we would certainly give that a try. To the person posting bad reviews I suggest you get a life!! read more

This place is really gross This place is the most disgusting restaurant I have ever encountered. They claim to be so posh and respectable, but the reality is that they don't care about quality or indeed cleanliness at all. The muffins were stale, the waitress just banged our coffee down on the table causing the coffee to spill into the saucer. When we asked her to top up our cup for the amount spilled she just said pour it back in the cup yourselves and took off with some kind of attitude. When we got the bill they had just added a £5 tip without asking our permission. I demanded that the tip be removed and they said it was company policy to just add a £5 tip to all bills. They claim to take credit cards, but when I tried to pay by card they told me that they only accepted credit cards for amounts over £50. Another elderly couple also complained, and as we were leaving I actually saw the waitress spit in their coffee before serving it to them. I live near by this Tea Room, just down the road in Beccles. I have read the conflicting reviews on this site, some good, some bad, it seems to have a split personality. So I decided to try it for myself. Well, now I know, and I wish I hadn't bothered. The tea really was "stewed" just like a previous reviewer had stated. The sandwich bread was actually hard at the edges, and the lettuce brown in places. And the The prices were way to high for me, not even close to reasonable. I asked the owner how she had the audacity to charge such ridiculous prices for such bad quality. All I got in return was foul mouthed abuse. If you are in this neighbourhood and have a yearning for afternoon tea, do yourself a favour and keep going into Beccles. There are several nice places there that won't insult your wallet and your intelligence. read more

I got food poisoning from eating here I went to the Tally Ho Tea House this week. It was a terrible experience. They could not even make a decent cup of tea, it was stewed! The scones were hard and stale. The cream was rancid and tasted vaguely of vinegar. When I got home I was very sick; I puked for 4 hours. The last time I ever threw up was over 20 years ago, so I am quite sure it was caused by what I ate at the Tally Ho Tea House. read more

I live locally and took my kids there after a trip to the air museum it was a big hit they both had gigantic knickerbocker glories and i enjoyed a cream tea we will be back. Quaint place, good food and charming service. Sad that some pathetic person has nothing better to do than spread malicious and unfounded rumours. Called in this afternoon while on a cycle ride between Beccles and Bungay. It's a delightful place, nice and bright yet with retro cottagey feel to it. Prices were reasonable, service polite and efficient. Will definitely go again. And no, I am nothing to do with the establishment, just a satisfied customer. read more
