Talona Ridge Rv Resort - Pool with mountain backdrop

Talona Ridge is a beautiful, well-maintained resort. And it's relatively new. With that said,…read morethere's definitely some room for improvement. My biggest complaint is their policy for Eagle Ridge (top with views). They don't allow RVs less than 30'. They claim it's wind, but my son has a 35' that weighs very little more than our Airstream 25'. Honestly, I think they want to cater to large motorhomes on top. They like the aesthetic of expensive units on top. They blame the wind, but honestly the wind is terrible in Falcon Ridge section, too. There's also a sense of divide between the levels. The resort reflected a snootiness to me amidst the levels that isn't seen in most resorts. I feel this is a decision of beginners error and could change in the future...hopefully it will. The resort is STRICT! There's so many rules! We rented a golf cart, and I initialed and signed at least 10 times. They inspect the cart when you return it. All kinds of fines in the contract. We also asked for 4 days of rental, but were told they could only rent it to us for 3 days. But when we returned it, the cart sat behind the welcome center on charge in site F01 unrented the entire day and night. The staff are friendly, but most have a very direct, no non-sense attitude. I watched another RV resort start similar to this. After a few years, they relaxed and now I have to book 2 years ahead to get in. Hopefully Talona Ridge will figure it out soon! The worst part of our experience is that we were called about a month prior asking if we would like to move to a better site. I was so happy this happened as it was a better site. However, they didn't call because they had our best interest at heart. An RV show was scheduled in the park and they needed that site for parking. We were NEVER told about an RV show being inside the campground! I would've re-scheduled. But I must say that the show was very fun so it all worked out to our satisfaction. There is a noisy road right beside the resort. It's noticeably noisy in the evenings unless you are on top. While there are negatives, overall it's a beautiful resort with spacious sites. We will go again. Just do your research and keep an eye on their events. I'm hoping they realize their potential in the near future that will make this place great for everyone including the smaller rigs!

Not satisfied as the experience did not align with the expectations…read more Pros: - the park seems new, kept well - location convenient and easy to get to; there is starbucks, walmart, longhorn, movie theater nearby - the amenities are not bad with pool and live music on friday and saturday 6-9 Cons: - this is really not a good place for kids; kids are not allowed to ride around on their own; the guards show up on golf card barking orders and really killing the vibe. And frankly it may not be 100% safe for kids to ride as cars are zooming by irrespective of direction of traffic. There are sharp turns and hills making it unsafe. - this really is a glorified parking lot... there are maybe 10 spots up on top with 10/10 view. Rest of the spots have 2/10 view. It looks like a mountain the map, but its really not high enough to see anything. So basically you sit in a parking lot staring at your retired neighbor, with kids who have nothing to occupy themselves with. If this is works for you then you will have fun. There are much better ways to spend money.

This is a little gem of an RV park in Forsyth county, tucked off Atlanta Highway (also known as Highway 9). This park is accurately named - it's large and has two sizable lakes that are beautifully maintained. They have spaces for small campers to larger RVs and spaces that are tucked away under the trees for maximum shade and privacy. There seem to be quite a few long term stayers in this place (that, to me, is a good sign). We strolled around the lakes and along a few of the roads, enjoying the grounds and the weather. The lakes have gently sloping and well maintained grassy banks with crape myrtles placed evenly alongside, and several bench swings interspersed, giving residents a place to sit and admire the scenery across the lakes. Catch-and-release fishing is allowed. The sites are all graveled (didn't see any concrete pads), but again - well maintained. According to our family members, the pricing is really good, with a standard slot at $30 per night and a deluxe spot at $35 per night. It's also very close to The Collection (less than 2 miles), making it convenient to get to shopping, entertainment and dining options.

I believe that OSHA and the EPA should visit this location. I would not eat the fish in those…read morelakes, or stay at their sites until I was sure it was safe and clean.

There are restrooms right next to the visitor center. There are two playgrounds on the other side of the visitor center with loads of picnic tables to sit at! Parks are in full shade. The official archway for the trail is directly behind the visitor center so be sure to catch your picture there! The big stocked pond was nice! Loads of dead fish floating and garbage which wasn't the best but not overwhelmingly horrible just could use some clean up. The trail leading up to the base of the falls is steep but well paved and maintained with a couple of seating areas along the way to catch your breath. We somewhat cheated and skipped the steps after we saw the base we turned around, drove up the street across from the visitor center and stopped midway up the falls to see another view half way up the falls on a bridge (check in the woods when you walk to this bridge there is a truck stuck in the woods and a tree is literally growing around it!) then we got back in the car and drove to the top! We may have skipped the stairs but we felt we truly got to enjoy the experience with the 3 little ones 5 and under haha. The top most viewing platform, not the bridge over top, was closed for construction when we went mid April. The lodge at the stop is strikingly beautiful!
