Negative Five Stars.
It's my wedding anniversary (June 16th). I decide since I can't spend the day with my husband (he's been working ten hours a, six days a week) I will go to the thrift shop and get him a couple books. I look up coffee shops in Barbourville and see the Donkey. When I walk in the place is beautiful, open floor plan, Christian music plays and I wonder if they ever have bands play here. I think "I'll bring my husband here" he loves live music. I walk to the counter and watch as the girl walks over. She does not say a word just looks at me. I order coffee. The girl behind the counter asked me to collect my order at the other end. When I get to the counter I see a binder open to a group of mugshots. No explanation as to who these people are. The only other time I've seen this is at shops that display shop lifters so I ask the girl who they are. She looks at me and snaps something about a program. I have no idea what "program" she's talking about so I ask if they know that their Mugshots are on display. She looked at me with such contempt and glares at me and angrily goes on about "the program". I ask what program she's talking about. She seems to be out of patience. She ignores my question, she angrily continues talking over me. I finally interrupt her again and ask what program she's talking about? She is super angry now and half yells that the coffee shop runs the program. I still have no idea what program she is referring to. A simple question has now turned into her arguing with me. I gather she's referring to a rehabilitation program. She continues to talk over me until I finally get so angry myself that I tell her that the reason I asked is because I didn't know why or who these people are (also I was half trying to just make small talk) and that I wouldn't want my mugshot on display (If I had one) because I imagine these people are not who they were at the time of their arrest. This seems to really anger her. She continues to tell (almost yelling) that they want to have their photos on display.
Here's what I think needs to happen.
One, educate your staff ( basic customer service skills , greeting, appropriate behavior when interacting with the customer).
Two create a dialogue about
"the program" so that in the future should someone inquire about it they are equipped with the correct tools to answer those questions.
Lastly, remove that girl from your front of house. Thus far she has lost you at least two customers. read more
