Market including locally sourced and small batch charcuterie, pasta, sauces, condiments, meat and dairy items ... and of course the best fresh baked bread and pasties. Anything I've ever had her was top shelf. The folks are super sweet, kind and helpful. There's a laidback vibe that makes you just wanna grab a seat, sip on some coffee, snack on a pastry and read a little ... almost feels like you're in Europe and you'll forget the hustle and bustle of your day to day for sure! read more

I love talking breads, they carry an awesome selection of local cheeses and meats, in addition to their own artesian baked goods and great bread! The ambience echo's and can be loud if there are people seated or children. Good service, and warm welcome from staff with great knowledge of their products. The honey + Brie on ciabatta was delightful, it's hard to find a good ciabatta that won't break your teeth, I wanted another one immediately when I finished it, it was THAT good! No wifi is available, and it's hard to get your hot spot working with limited service in the building- keep that in mind if you're trying to get some work done! read more

We ordered the bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and it came with sliced apples on the side. They had ran out of the fresh bagels by the time we got there but they usually give you the option between a bagel or ciabatta bread. The service was great and this place has plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. Outdoor has gazebos you can sit under with your party out in the fields. They also have other bakery goods for sale and pickled things such as pickles. They also sell coffees in bags from other countries and honey / jams. Love this place! read more

Talking Breads - Egg breakfast sandwich, coffee, and vanilla maple syrup buttered toast - Bakeries Near Me - Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

Was there today with my sister. The place is cute and the baked goods are delicious. The service really could be better. The lady behind the counter was good but the two men preparing food need to have more customer service training. My sister ordered a bagel then decided to ask for butter on the bagel. There was an additional charge for butter. The two men were chatting and not really paying attention to the order. Her bagel was put on the counter but the latte was not. Finally I said to her do you think he just sat it on the counter outside the table area. Sure enough, it was sitting on the counter around the corner. No one ever spoke up to say your order is ready or to be nice brought it to the table. Just saying, a little bit of customer service goes a long way. read more

Great breads and great treats. I always stop for a treat when I'm close by. I've enjoyed their cherry almond scone, chocolate babka, chocolate rye cookies, and more but those are some of the items that have stood out to me! I got their ciabatta during my most recent visit- it was awesome. We also tried one of their meat filled pastries which my bf really enjoyed. I haven't even ordered anything from their menu, but I will definitely be back to do so. read more

Amazing selection of breads and pastries and tasty. Love the location with outdoor seating in a beautiful setting .

The staff were super sweet and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is cute inside and out. But I was highly disappointed in the sandwich. It was so hard I couldn't even eat it. Bacon was black. Maybe I will give them another try at some point, but this was not what I was expecting. As a fellow restaurant employee, we would never serve something to a customer like this. read more

Every bread I have tried here has been great. Do not expect greatness from their bagels. They are doughy and heavy. We are not that far from New York City, home of exceptional bagels. I would suggest that some of the bakers from Talking Breads take a field trip to NYC for a short course in learning how to make great bagels. read more

Charming and delicious through and through! The setting is as peaceful as the drive there!

The baguette was outstanding!! It was the best I have had--crispy on the outside and so light on the inside. Simply perfection!

They make really good bagels and bread! I am vegan and most of their breads are vegan. They have a store but also bring their products to The Farmers Market in Carlisle in Wednesdays where they sell out most times. read more

Really beautiful place! The staff is super friendly and they have really delicious breads and pastries. Coffee is great too. I came two days in a row. I tried the German sandwich, the muffuletta and the breakfast sandwich. Everything was fresh and delicious. read more

I like really good artisan breads that generally are found ethnic neighborhoods in large cities. So to discover Talking Breads in the (kinda) farmlands of Central Pennsylvania is amazing. Everything they bake (and they bake a lot of things) is first rate! Never leave without a scone or 3. read more

Sandwich was good! But the ice tea was horrible. They market them selfs to have fresh fruit. But they did not have any of that. Not really sure what to call this place but definitely not a coffee shop or produce stand read more

My new favorite store! It is a beautiful country drive to get to Talking Breads in Mechanicsburg. Whatever time you spend in the car is worth it. Fresh baked breads, some always available and some specials each week, and bakery items are the highlight! Sourcing local grains gives their items a definite edge. In addition to bread, they offer local cheese and meats, some fresh produce, eggs, gorgeous flower bouquets, dried apples, olive oil and more. To top it off you can get a cup of fresh coffee, cold pressed juice or a sandwich and go sit around the farm to enjoy the food and the scenery. The team at Talking Breads is clearly passionate about their work. Service is top notch. Add this to your list of must try bakeries! read more

Absolutely love this place. I come here on the weekends in the morning with my mom and we always get fresh bread and coffees or juices. The food is delicious. The bread is baked daily and it's all farm to table. The vibe is so cute. It's nestled away off the side of a main street but when you sit outside with your food, you can just hear the sounds of nature and just stare at their amazing property. Right when you walk in, you can see all of the freshly baked bread for the day and someone's always there to help you or answer questions. Service is great. Can be a little pricey, but worth it. read more

A must-stop for me when in Mechanicsburg. I always stock up on bread, Apple Valley Creamery milk, etc. there. The drip coffee is Elementary Coffee Co. and their chocolate rye cookie is delicious. Cute place I totally drove right past. There is a sign, but it's natural wood color blends with the gorgeous country surroundings. Easy enough to find a place to turn around. Handicap parking available. The rest of parking is gravel & grass. It's tucked back off the road. The landscape is stunning. Their website says they're farmers so I don't know how much is their land, but it's beautiful. I didn't see indoor seating. My friend & I sat outside. They have sweet treats, breads, and other food items. I bought a bacon, egg sandwich and a cappaccino. It was $12 & change. It was good. You order inside, but they have a window to pass your order through to you. Service is nice, kind. They have a dog & cat on premises. I was told the dog, Sammy, is friendly but does not like to be petted. I am afraid of dogs & did not try to pet it. I did put my hand out so Sammy could smell me & know I am friendly. I was several feet away & he or she growled at me. Because of my personal uncomfortableness I may not be back, but their bread is soooo good that I may have to just pop in and right out real quick. They have games and books available too which I think is so inviting. It really feels like the owners want you to come and stay awhile. read more

We stopped in here a few weeks ago, and forgot to post these pictures. The entire place is so whimsical..it definitely feels like a fairytale cottage. When I say the entire place..I mean the entire property. It's beautiful. You can feel the heart and soul they put into this. I can't wait to go back in the spring/summer when everything is in full bloom. Everything inside was fresh..the smell was amazing! There is a little bit of everything..fruit, pre-made items (salad, egg sad, etc), cheeses and meats, honey, and of course the bread! Everything is local..or from other small business. Everyone working was very kind and helpful. I feel very confident saying this place is LGBTQIA friendly. This place is a wonderful addition to the community..thank you for creating it! We can't wait to come back! read more

We moved here four years ago from NJ -where bakeries abound and good crusty bread is easily found. We are very disappointed in supermarket bread and we were on a mission to find freshly baked crusty bread. After driving to many establishments in south central PA we finally found our spot! The breads and pastries are absolutely amazing. There is an abundance of breads to choose from - and one is better than the next. They also have a small sandwich menu that we have been anxious to try. The Brie, apple and honey sammie was delicious, as was the muffeletta. We got them to go, but there is a gazebo and areas where you can spread a picnic blanket to enjoy your food and the beautiful wildflowers. If you find yourself in the Mechanicsburg area do yourself a favor and stop in to this tiny gem of an artisan bakery. We drive 35 minutes to get there and it's definitely worth the drive. read more

Talking Breads - PB&J and a ginger/carrot juice - Bakeries Near Me - Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

This hidden gem is found in farm country between Mechanicsburg and Carlisle Pa. Wonderful freshly baked breads, scones and other goodies which varies from day to day. Excellent selection of sourdough breads are made regularly and never disappoint. There are some cheeses, prepared meats, vegetables, hot and cold drinks and other items also available. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. There is a gazebo out back if you want to sip some hot coffee and nibble on a freshly baked cookie or scone. They make cheeseboards with a variety of items you can construct to taste. All in all, a great experience. read more

Talking Breads - Taking bread - Bakeries Near Me - Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

I have now visited Talking Breads twice and man, they make some great stuff! We've tried their cranberry scones (you *must* get this), apple turnovers, lemon poppy scones, chocolate chip cookies and today I purchased sticky buns that I haven't yet tasted. I've also tried some of the products they sell from other local(ish) companies including the Stinkin' Rye Sauerkraut (so yummy). They also have hard-to-find varieties of mushrooms like oysters, lion's mane and shiitake that I assume are grown locally as well. Everything is SO fresh. Upon walking in, you are smacked in the face with the most delicious smell of baking bread. Seriously. It should be a candle scent. They are being very safe and smart about COVID, which I really appreciate. Masks are required and only 4 customers are allowed in at a time. When we went this morning (a Saturday), there was a line out the door waiting to enter. It is definitely worth it! I LOVE supporting real local businesses. Their website shares that the wheat they use is grown and milled on site. It is genuinely I place I plan to frequent and I am SO happy to support. Definitely check them out! read more

We passed by Talking Breads on our way to Mechanicsburg, never knowing it existed so close to us. We've learned it's quite popular in the area, and while it's not specifically our family's taste, I know for a fact that some of you out there will love this place. What do I mean by that? Well, for better or worse, our flavor palate is accustomed to processed foods and higher levels of sugar than what we experienced in the foods we bought to try. We got three sticky buns (seriously three of the biggest sticky buns I've ever seen) and a chocolate hazelnut twist. Everything was a bit hard, even after warming it up again in the microwave, and while these baked goods were flavorful, they were very clearly made with what tasted like "natural" ingredients. In other words, the chocolate hazelnut twist tasted like it was made with actual chocolate and actual hazelnut, and not just a smattering of Nutella. Other reviews also talked about cookies, and we didn't see any cookies when we were there. If there were cookies, we may have had a different experience, because we also don't normally eat sticky buns. They did however put out freshly baked focaccia bread while we sat there. It looked awesome - just not my thing. If you're into purchasing locally produced foods like meat, vegetables, etc, you're going to love Talking Breads. The staff were friendly and efficient - they took orders while also baking away in the back. It's an adorable physical location as well - there's outdoor seating and what looks like a walking path. Inside however, there's not much space. It's a grab and go place, or when the weather is nice, a grab and eat outside place. Despite it being cold in the middle of January, it was packed when we stopped. So when I say it's not my thing, please hear that it's clearly working for lots of people! read more

I've been going nearly once a week since experiencing best biscuit I have ever eaten! Working my way through trying all the breads. Each is wonderful but the Norwegian Brown is my favorite so far. Sometimes I get two loafs if there is something like ciabatta on day old rack. I'll freeze it for later. Beautiful location to enjoy coffee and a bite. They are special. And I read they are expanding in 2025! read more

I discovered this family-owned bakery yesterday on Lisburn Road while driving over to Three Fold Farm. First of all, one could drive by and totally miss this place, because there is no sign to identify the business name! Yes, the only small signage was near the ground/entrance to the parking lot with their logo and announced the store was open and hours. I couldn't tell what type of store it was or what they sold, but spoke with another customer outside to learn more. I decided to check this new place out for myself. The business started at this location in February of 2020 and has an attractive rustic appearance from the outside with a gravel parking lot. Because of Covid, only two customers may be inside at one time. Besides baked goods and bread, they sell berries and fruit from TFF down the road and other local farms, which I thought was cool. The employees were very friendly and answered all my questions. I decided to buy an apple cranberry turnover ($4) and a raspberry twist stick just to sample their wares. I split the turnover with my wife and we both agreed it was delicious. I hear the bread is sought after, so I want to go back and try sometime, along with more goodies. Tip: I arrived by 11-ish am. The outside line moves fairly well but was longer after being there for five minutes. Check it out for yourself! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. read more

This place is awesome! Fresh breads, pressed juices, bakery treats and all natural products line the shelves! They use non enriched flour and cut out all processed BS that you find in your grocery store. They have the BEST CHOCOLATE RYE COOKIES I've ever had!! The only thing I wish they would do differently would be to welcome everyone and be more personable upon entry. I would also like to see ingredient lists posted freely for people who are looking for specific things to fit their diet needs. Other then that, I really like going there!! read more

Best Pastry or tart in the area you ask? The Apple tart/pastry is incredible. Simple. Delicious! Best I've had in the area!

I'm a fan. I visited Talking Breads on a Friday morning on my way out of town after staying the night in Mechanicsburg, PA. The facilities are beautiful and excellent. The parking lot is gravel. There is a handicap parking spot with access to paved sidewalk to the front door. There are benches and tables outside for you to enjoy a picnic or meal. The customer area is quiet small and during my visit made during COVID 19 protocols only two people were allowed inside. Due to their baking schedule there was no fresh bread available that morning and no day old bread. There was a day old cookie available which I bought. Talking Bread also sold local products like whole bean coffee, honey, milk and meats and wild flowers. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Talking Heads is quick in replying to emails. I think I sent them several emails and they replied to all of them in good time. read more
