They had ran out of the fresh bagels by the time we got there but they usually give you the option between a bagel or ciabatta bread. The service was great and this place has plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. Outdoor has gazebos you can sit under with your party out in the fields. The staff were super sweet and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is cute inside and out. But I was highly disappointed in the sandwich. It was so hard I couldn't even eat it. Bacon was black. Every bread I have tried here has been great. Do not expect greatness from their bagels. They are doughy and heavy. We are not that far from New York City, home of exceptional bagels. I would suggest that some of the bakers from Talking Breads take a field trip to NYC for a short course in learning how to make great bagels. read more

Absolutely love this place. I come here on the weekends in the morning with my mom and we always get fresh bread and coffees or juices. The food is delicious. The bread is baked daily and it's all farm to table. The vibe is so cute. It's nestled away off the side of a main street but when you sit outside with your food, you can just hear the sounds of nature and just stare at their amazing property. Right when you walk in, you can see all of the freshly baked bread for the day and someone's always there to help you or answer questions. Service is great. We moved here four years ago from NJ -where bakeries abound and good crusty bread is easily found. We are very disappointed in supermarket bread and we were on a mission to find freshly baked crusty bread. After driving to many establishments in south central PA we finally found our spot! The breads and pastries are absolutely amazing. There is an abundance of breads to choose from - and one is better than the next. They also have a small sandwich menu that we have been anxious to try. The Brie, apple and honey sammie was delicious, as was the muffeletta. We got them to go, but there is a gazebo and areas where you can spread a picnic blanket to enjoy your food and the beautiful wildflowers. If you find yourself in the Mechanicsburg area do yourself a favor and stop in to this tiny gem of an artisan bakery. We drive 35 minutes to get there and it's definitely worth the drive. read more

Cute place I totally drove right past. There is a sign, but it's natural wood color blends with the gorgeous country surroundings. Easy enough to find a place to turn around. Handicap parking available. The rest of parking is gravel & grass. It's tucked back off the road. The landscape is stunning. Their website says they're farmers so I don't know how much is their land, but it's beautiful. I didn't see indoor seating. My friend & I sat outside. They have sweet treats, breads, and other food items. I bought a bacon, egg sandwich and a cappaccino. It was $12 & change. It was good. You order inside, but they have a window to pass your order through to you. Service is nice, kind. They have a dog & cat on premises. I was told the dog, Sammy, is friendly but does not like to be petted. I am afraid of dogs & did not try to pet it. I did put my hand out so Sammy could smell me & know I am friendly. I was several feet away & he or she growled at me. Because of my personal uncomfortableness I may not be back, but their bread is soooo good that I may have to just pop in and right out real quick. We stopped in here a few weeks ago, and forgot to post these pictures. The entire place is so whimsical..it definitely feels like a fairytale cottage. When I say the entire place..I mean the entire property. It's beautiful. You can feel the heart and soul they put into this. I can't wait to go back in the spring/summer when everything is in full bloom. Everything inside was fresh..the smell was amazing! I have now visited Talking Breads twice and man, they make some great stuff! We've tried their cranberry scones (you *must* get this), apple turnovers, lemon poppy scones, chocolate chip cookies and today I purchased sticky buns that I haven't yet tasted. I've also tried some of the products they sell from other local(ish) companies including the Stinkin' Rye Sauerkraut (so yummy). They also have hard-to-find varieties of mushrooms like oysters, lion's mane and shiitake that I assume are grown locally as well. Everything is SO fresh. Upon walking in, you are smacked in the face with the most delicious smell of baking bread. Seriously. It should be a candle scent. They are being very safe and smart about COVID, which I really appreciate. Masks are required and only 4 customers are allowed in at a time. When we went this morning (a Saturday), there was a line out the door waiting to enter. It is definitely worth it! I LOVE supporting real local businesses. I've been going nearly once a week since experiencing best biscuit I have ever eaten! Working my way through trying all the breads. Each is wonderful but the Norwegian Brown is my favorite so far. We passed by Talking Breads on our way to Mechanicsburg, never knowing it existed so close to us. We've learned it's quite popular in the area, and while it's not specifically our family's taste, I know for a fact that some of you out there will love this place. What do I mean by that? Well, for better or worse, our flavor palate is accustomed to processed foods and higher levels of sugar than what we experienced in the foods we bought to try. We got three sticky buns (seriously three of the biggest sticky buns I've ever seen) and a chocolate hazelnut twist. Everything was a bit hard, even after warming it up again in the microwave, and while these baked goods were flavorful, they were very clearly made with what tasted like "natural" ingredients. In other words, the chocolate hazelnut twist tasted like it was made with actual chocolate and actual hazelnut, and not just a smattering of Nutella. Other reviews also talked about cookies, and we didn't see any cookies when we were there. If there were cookies, we may have had a different experience, because we also don't normally eat sticky buns. They did however put out freshly baked focaccia bread while we sat there. It looked awesome - just not my thing. If you're into purchasing locally produced foods like meat, vegetables, etc, you're going to love Talking Breads. The staff were friendly and efficient - they took orders while also baking away in the back. It's an adorable physical location as well - there's outdoor seating and what looks like a walking path. Inside however, there's not much space. It's a grab and go place, or when the weather is nice, a grab and eat outside place. Despite it being cold in the middle of January, it was packed when we stopped. So when I say it's not my thing, please hear that it's clearly working for lots of people! read more

I discovered this family-owned bakery yesterday on Lisburn Road while driving over to Three Fold Farm. First of all, one could drive by and totally miss this place, because there is no sign to identify the business name! Yes, the only small signage was near the ground/entrance to the parking lot with their logo and announced the store was open and hours. I couldn't tell what type of store it was or what they sold, but spoke with another customer outside to learn more. I decided to check this new place out for myself. The business started at this location in February of 2020 and has an attractive rustic appearance from the outside with a gravel parking lot. Because of Covid, only two customers may be inside at one time. Besides baked goods and bread, they sell berries and fruit from TFF down the road and other local farms, which I thought was cool. The employees were very friendly and answered all my questions. I decided to buy an apple cranberry turnover ($4) and a raspberry twist stick just to sample their wares. I split the turnover with my wife and we both agreed it was delicious. I hear the bread is sought after, so I want to go back and try sometime, along with more goodies. Tip: I arrived by 11-ish am. The outside line moves fairly well but was longer after being there for five minutes. Check it out for yourself! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. read more

They use non enriched flour and cut out all processed BS that you find in your grocery store. They have the BEST CHOCOLATE RYE COOKIES I've ever had!! The only thing I wish they would do differently would be to welcome everyone and be more personable upon entry. I'm a fan. I visited Talking Breads on a Friday morning on my way out of town after staying the night in Mechanicsburg, PA. The facilities are beautiful and excellent. The parking lot is gravel. There is a handicap parking spot with access to paved sidewalk to the front door. There are benches and tables outside for you to enjoy a picnic or meal. The customer area is quiet small and during my visit made during COVID 19 protocols only two people were allowed inside. Due to their baking schedule there was no fresh bread available that morning and no day old bread. There was a day old cookie available which I bought. Talking Bread also sold local products like whole bean coffee, honey, milk and meats and wild flowers. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Talking Heads is quick in replying to emails. A very fun find. The building is eye catching in its unique style, as is the interior. Lots of gourmet delicacies hit the eyes as soon as you open the door, as does the baking aromas. Various cheeses, breads, baked goods, milks, meats, etc. However, we were looking forward to a lunch to go and the online menu of sandwiches were not actually all offered. There were only four types on the wall menu being made. Disappointed. However they had prepackaged containers of egg salad and chicken salad to go. But when asked if they had any set aside to make a sandwich on their breads, they hadn't. We simply went with a delicious bagel with cream cheese. Also took a few chocolate cookies and scones to go. Both delicious too. Hope they get more sandwich variety soon, including wraps, as it's close and we are in need of nice sandwich/lunch spots (like Simply Turkey, which is great but not in our immediate area for a quick lunch unfortunately) read more
