All though I am not a recruiter I have worked with many. David Aplin Recruiting is excellent. When the recession hit hard, I was need of a job after a layoff. Within 2 weeks of registering with Aplin, I had a job. My recruiter Lara Montgomery was excellent. She assessed my job requirements and worked hard and fast for me to get me employed. A real go getter, she recognized that being unemployed was not fun, and got me back to work quickly. Like most of these agencies, in addition to your interview with your recruiter you will be required to do some simple online assessment tests. You can do them from home online, very convenient. I was and I am hopeful others are as well, treated with respect and care. I utilized Lara again at David Aplin when I was looking for a career change recently and I have now ended up in an excellent company. One of the things I like about Aplin is that not only did they find me a great job, but they encouraged me to think outside the box career wise, and it has been amazing. Their offices are located right downtown on the 32nd floor and the views are amazing! This agency works hard to find you work...excellent company.

I completely agree with Adam B. I have had some contact with a limited number of recruitment…read moreagencies in Calgary and can say that David Aplin was by far the most professional I have dealt with. From the outset, it appears that they are a much more proactive recruitment agency that focusses much more on the importance of the preparation for interview - this is something lacking in every other recruitment group I have ever used.

After having read my initial review, of four years ago, I realized how poorly it'd been done. So,…read morethe following summary hopefully can succinctly clarify what I'd originally meant. I realize this happened back in 2104, but I feel not much has probably changed. As I'd been laid off from this temp agency, I found need to apply for interim welfare, till the EI I applied for, kicked in. I got an initial disbursement, but then got a letter from my worker, telling me me that I needed to go apply for one those how-to-find-a-job courses, or be cut off. But when I applied at McBride, unbeknownst to me, apparently my speech was too literate for their comfort, for they refused to confirm with EI, that I'd enrolled with them. And until such confirmation, my EI benefits would be witheld. So I walked, which resulted in EI docking me 6.6 weeks benefits, as penalty. The actual course itself, was a farce (they still admitted me to it, though I'd missed the first week), It consisted merely of them giving you a booklet to read, and doing the open book quiz, at the end of it; the afternoons would be spent orally correcting it, as a group. And that 'group,' I might add, was comprised mostly of trailer park types. I found out later, that if someone sounded like they'd been university-educated, that the place would usually attempt to get rid of them, in this manner. Most likely, they feared being reported on, to the government. They just like their lumpenproletarian clients who say nothing, and whom they get payment for.

Terrible company that doesn't even take the chance to fit staff with the proper jobs. This company…read moreseems like they want to fill a job with a body as soon as possible. I sent them resume months ago and one day Saba at this company contacted me for a questionable and dubious accounting job. If you read the lines in the detail, the job was nothing but a bookkeeper and prepares tax returns for small businesses which is not something any accountant would like to do working for someone else. I politely declined but they kept pushing me. I told them again that I am not interested for this type of work so they piled on more nonsense by telling me the type of culture and how the job was located in downtown blah blah blah. Later I interviewed with owner just so I can tell him in person that I was not interested and the recruiter they hired should stop contacting me. After the interview I sternly told Saba that this was not a good position and I was not interested. She replied with a "thumbs up image and said great!". Wtf are you even reading what I sent you??? Complete waste of everybody's time. Finally after another week, I get a email saying I did not get the position. Like as if I cared at that point or at any point during the recruitment phase with this company. The recruiters seems like they don't even read your application to know your skills, or even know the person. They will match you with jobs that are way beneath your experience or what your looking for.

I gave this agency 1 star because I couldn't give it a zero star rating. I was placed by them in…read morea job that I was dubious about at a salary far below my experience level - but took it anyway and decided to give the place a chance. The firm I was placed with was terribly disorganized and the equipment I had to work with was either broken or on its way to the scrap heap. But I decided to persevere. Then I wasn't paid for my time. I advised Ranstad that unless the issue was resolved, I would be leaving. They assured me that they had resolved the matter for me and I would be paid (I found out later that I was told that so I would stay). I was not paid for all my time, so I again warned Ranstad I would be leaving. I did speak to management and was not successful in resolving the matter. So I did leave. However, I was in contact with Ranstad and reached out to the firm via telephone and email a number of times with no success. Now I know the agency relies on their commissions - and of course I made them no money. So I was dismissed and Ranstad wouldn't return my emails or calls. Very shoddy behaviour - they could have rescued the placement by helping me when asked to, or at least listening to my side of what happened. The recruiter I was working with was discussing me with another placement they had at the firm - and information was exchanged which should have remained between myself and the recruiter. In short, a very unprofessional agency.
