Talay Thai wins awards. These awards aren't like those awards for participating in your high school sports day. These awards are for being the best at what they do. Thai food. I mean how many Thai restaurants are there in Brisbane, heaps. How many of those Thai restaurants can say they've won an award for being the best? Not many, if any. So if you want the best, Thai Talay is the place to go.
A friend introduced me to Thai Talay. He had just come back from a holiday to Thailand and was obsessed with the cuisine. For the first couple of weeks he was set on finding the best in Brisbane. One night he invited me out to Thai Talay. He described it as better than the real thing.
We sat down and ordered, he was excited and I was hungry. I kept my meals simple: curry puffs for entree and a yellow curry for main. When the appetisers came out, at first I though nothing of them. After biting in I was amazed by how much flavour and spice could be injected into such small and delicate puff. Then the mains came out. They were big servings. My dish was thick with rich yellow curry sauce with plenty of chicken and vegetable swimming in it. I wolfed it down like a starving pauper.
The only disappointment about the whole experience is that there really wasn't a crowd in Thai Talay. Instead, the atmosphere was filled with the incessant ringing of the telephone, no doubt for the huge demand for takeaway orders. read more
