But the function is more like boutique farmer's market. There's not much variety of actual farmers, although there seems to be a pristine example of each category of agricultural goods -- honey, cheese, meat. But don't expect to get your green grocery shopping done here, and the variety within even basics like berries or greens is more limited than Sprouts or even Smart & Final. The food trucks are a sparse but typically mediocre and expensive. And the market is already too crowded. The big treat is the yard-long tube of popped corn that distracts the youngsters while mom and dad peruse the beeswax soaps. My biggest gripe is that the City likes these little demonstration projects, and makes no attempt to get real quality farm-to-fork food, or to coordinate it with the other efforts at Laguna/Big Horn or District 56. Good ideas, all of them, but pick one that works.

Old Elk Grove really needed this boost. The setup on Sunday has your basics: kettle corn, a food truck or two, fresh veggies, local cheeses and honey and some arts and crafts. But the extras did it for me. The coffee vendor, the loose leaf tea vendor, the vegan mayo/spread vendor- all fantastic. The organic produce was also reasonably priced. Parking is not a problem. There's a small paved lot across the street from the market, or a large dirt lot directly behind. Bonus is that you're in Old Elk Grove, which means you are walking distance to a handful of good brunch and lunch spots too.

Just two pretty normal guys, who are super kind, knowledgeable and excited about their product. We sampled fresh sprouts of purple kohlrabi, broccoli, arugula, cilantro, wheat grass, and more. My favorite was the mild kohlrabi. Super fresh, mild, sweet and tasty. I could feel myself getting healthier instantly! :) Super powers! They sell trays of microgreens, or by the bag. They also sell seeds and teas, that they source. Everything is certified organic in their business, and they go to great lengths to certify everything, and do everything to the highest standards. The cool thing is some of the green germinate in a few days. So you can eat healthy all the time! There's a store a few doors down that sells organic soil and everything you need to start you own mini garden and be healthy! Talk about one stop shopping! The items are always fresh and sometimes unusual (but that's the fun of it, right??) My experience with customer service has definitely been a pleasant one. They are very informative and accommodating as much as possible to my questions and needs. I think the best thing that has come out of this for my family is that my children always look forward to our Thursdays deliveries and opening our box of goodies, it has heightened their desire for fruit and veggie snacks over other pantry items, and since we are a juicing family my kids have have become more involved with added kale or spinach to their smoothies! My produce always seems fresh, but it is ORGANIC and does not carry a shelf life like other pesticide and GMO inflamed foods. So my family and I always try to consume it all before it expires.
