Fantastic first time experience!! With an excellent instructor, Mr.Christiane Baccol. He is professional, methodical, thorough and prioritizes safety over everything else. I highly recommend him for flight lessons. He ran through the checklist multiple times with me and answered all my questions very patiently. This experience has truly inspired me to sign up for more classes with him. read more

Our son participated in Take Flight, and we are still owed a $6,500 refund. The owner, Ryan Mayo, sent a check months later, but payment was stopped after we posted a negative review. We've since learned of other families facing similar issues. Be very careful before enrolling here. read more

This place was ok. I had a mixed experience here. I probably wouldn't be back. But the scenic views were great!

First off, let me start by saying that the personnel at Take Flight are very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. I take my Cessna 182 there for maintenance and I've received exceptional service. Jim Markey is a very talented IA and runs a very tight shop. If you're looking for a a reputable maintenance facility and flight school, I highly recommend Take Flight. John Bowley read more

My daughter 16 goes to this school. Excellent! This is in Montgomery NY which is a sweet , beautiful town upstate NY. The aircrafts are the Diamond series. Nice looking and modern. Monica is at the desk, her personality is so incredible that we looking forward to going just to see her! This flight school is about 2 hrs from NYC and even less without traffic. On the way we see lots of horses and cows. Actually there are stunning cows that you can look at that are behind a fence at this airport! This school is serious , you are here to become a professional high level pilot. The clean and new office area has lots of Aviation reading and it's where the simulators are. Hours of flying are recorded in the Black Book and can be kept at this office. I've met so many student pilots and instructors at this office /seating/waiting area and learned so much about becoming a pilot just from hearing the conversations. Everyone here is dead serious about becoming a pilot and many instructors are heading to the airlines. So my daughter requests "Tim" when she flies and hopefully he is available, otherwise every instructor is awesome as well. Tim is just very much like her , he's serious yet funny and really smart. Close by about 5 min drive is the town with a pizza shop and convenient also super friendly, seems everyone here is. Definitely worth the travel from anywhere. Oh , and my 12 year old son had an introduction flight last week and loved it too! Here are some pics ! Thanks a ton! read more

Great School! I'm a rookie student pilot and the folks at Take Flight have made me feel safe and welcome from day one. My instructor Mike is calm, cool, and knowledgable. I'm going to be a rookie for a long time, but I feel like I'm getting a great education. This is a family run, friendly school with kind and knowledgable staff, instructors, and mechanics. The airplane I'm training in is a Diamond 40, which is a modern and well maintained aircraft. They have different kinds of aircraft here, as well as a simulator for those foul weather days. Safety is my biggest concern as a student pilot. The more I train with Take Flight Aviation, the more my safety fears dissipate and I focus on the task of becoming a safe Pilot. read more

I've been looking for a new rental place since I moved away from my old one. I can finally afford to rent and I found this place. I had about 2 hours of Diamond single time, and I haven't flown a GA aircraft for about 2 years. Take Flight took me from "zero to hero" quickly, cheaply, and safely. To tip it all off, their aircraft are outfitted with the modern avionics I am used to, which definitely moved the process along. I'll be renting from here more after this experience. read more

I just completed my Commercial Multi-engine add-on rating at Take Flight and I can see why AOPA named it the 2018 Best Flight School in the Nation. I hold a commercial license with instrument rating and Cirrus Vision Jet single pilot type rating so I have experienced a lot of aviation training. Take Flight reaches a wonderful balance between a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and a professional, curriculum based training program. I flew with two different instructors who were both outstanding. The flight school uses Diamond airplanes with modern, glass cockpits. I flew a Diamond DA42 NG twin with FADEC controlled diesel engines. The plane is fun and easy to hand fly and the required maneuvers weren't overly challenging. Orange County Airport is an uncontrolled field a little over an hour outside of Manhattan. Unlike some of the busier airports in the area, you seldom have to wait to take off and the practice area is right next to the airport so you don't pay for a lot of unproductive ground or flight time. Perhaps most importantly, I was overprepared for my FAA check ride and I am now comfortable and confident flying twin engine airplanes. Thank you TakeFlight! read more

Went in so my 10 year old daughter can use the bathroom and I wanted to inquire about flying lessons .First off I must say after attempting to let my child go use the restroom, one of 6 employees who were just hanging out doing nothing stood by the bathroom and blocking it so she wont go in.That pretty much told me that they aren't interested in doing any business.I didn't know I had to make a purchase in order to use there facilities that I drove an hour for.If your thinking about flying with these clowns I suggest finding a place that won't nickel and dime You. You have been warned. PILOTS BEWARE!!!!!!!! read more

I needed to sell my light twin and Ryan and the staff at Take Flight took care of me like I was one of their regular customers. I felt like they really prioritized my needs. My plane was prepped, annuelled as per buyer's request, and the complex transaction that is an aircraft sale was made seamless. I was also impressed with their modern rental fleet and facilities at the growing Orange County Airport. They are my first stop when I need to rent in the future. read more

My wife bought me a lesson for my birthday. I had never been in a small plane before, and was nervous prior to getting there. Once i got there and met the staff i felt reassured that i was going to be in good hands. The flight Instructors were very experienced and have a lot of information to offer. I felt very comfortable never being in a small plane before. Great experience, now I'm thinking about getting my license. read more

I am a corporate pilot, I've been looking for reputable flight school where I can rent airplanes from. I'd love to take my wife and kids on pleasure flights, so they can be involved in meeting other pilots and their families at the local airports. Searching in a flying magazine I came across Take Flight Aviation. I decided to visit their facilities and I met with a great man Mr. Ray Wagner. From the first minute I began talking with Ray he made me feel great about his flight school. His costumer service and his aviation background are amazing. That day I was so please with everyone's attention that end up signing up for check out on one of their Diamond airplanes. I've been renting planes from Take Take Flight Aviation a few months now and every time I come back their customer service is better and better. I strongly recommend any one to give them a chance just like I did. They are awesome group of people to deal with. You won't be disappointed!! read more

My boyfriend has wanted to fly since childhood. He started out at a New Jersey airport that was congested, expensive and inconvenient location wise. We looked around and found Take Flight at the Orange County airport. Everyone is friendly and accomodating. The instructors know their stuff. His check flight is next week and we're both super excited! Check them out if you're thinking about flying. read more
