Will update my rating/review as this progresses... The service at this particular location under Shane is amazing. But I did have an issue that's still pending resolution. Took my truck for an oil change and the jack they use to open the hood (which I assume is for safety, totally understand) pushed my hood back further than it usually goes. As a result, I have a crack on the corner my windshield. Took it for an estimate immediately and was advised it has to be replaced - almost a $700 charge. Let me say too, I've gone here for a few years, and I love the guys who work in the shop. They're professional and friendly, and have never an issue previously. This time, I did mention the crack at the time of service, and the poor gentleman doing my oil change looked terrified I was going to make a scene. So I resolved to contact the corporate office. Called Thursday afternoon on my way home from the oil change, was sent to voicemail. Twice again on Friday, one to the office in Apex and the other to Charlotte. Both sent to voicemail. We went back to Shane and he took pictures and submitted a claim on our behalf. So just pending his boss's review. read more

I am happy to write a good review of this experience! Quick service oil changes can be hit or miss, but this was a pleasant time from start to finish. They were able to promptly pull me into a bay, where they gave me a bottle of water while I waited. They have several different options of oils, and the mechanic knew which options were best for my car. I got my car in August and have not done much to it since. I was able to get everything done there (air filter changed, coolant changed, etc). They talked me through everything and were very transparent with all they were doing. It took maybe 15 minutes for all that to be done, and I know it was done well. Trent was able to give me a discount as well, that was much appreciated. I do not recommend this place when they break stuff they do not replace it. They come up with excuses for there Actions. They broke my oil cover off of my car and never told me that it was broken.So I found out when I went to get my tires changed from another dealership and went back to take 5 and asked, did they break my oil cover off and they said that it has previously been broken off since 2023 and there's nothing they can do about it. read more

First time at Take 5 and I was pleasantly surprised at how quick, friendly and easy it was to get my car serviced! I usually go to a local mechanic where I have to drop off my car (who I love and will return to) but sometimes it's not convenient to do so, and I have to go out of town so I needed to just get it done. I took my lunch break and took my car about 12pm. I pulled up to wait my turn and someone immediately greeted me and offered me a cold water! That was so nice! I pulled forward in just a couple of minute, I was checked in and it probably took a total of 20 minutes. It is more pricy than my usually car guy but they cleaned my windshield. These people will completely sabotage your car! While I was there, they not only took an hour, but they cut some wires by my engine block to get out my oil filter. It wasn't until after I pulled out that my check engine light came on. I turned around and went back and that is when a worker came out a admitted he did that to my wires. The manager refused to take responsibility and said that they shouldn't break easy, so it is my fault they were in his way. That is negligence and illegal! On top of that, they messed with other parts under my hood, didn't put back on caps, and even messed up my coolant sensor to where my computer thought my engine was overheating! They break stuff and refuse to fix it. They will be sued soon. I also asked for full-synthetic and they told me that is what they gave me, but then say I only have 5,000 miles until my next oil change. It is not full-synthetic if it only gives me 5,000 miles. Either they lied about the miles or they lied about the oil they put in my car. I wouldn't trust them with my life! Rude people who destroy your stuff so that you spend more money! read more

Was excited about getting a quick oil change, but during the process I overheard the workers saying he thinks that something broke. I was reassured that everything was fine only to hear a rumbling noise a few days later. Turns out they whatever they broke caused a leak and ended up costing me 500 dollars to fix at the auto shop. My friend just got his oil changed and they 'forgot' to put the lid on the oil. he was driving home 4 hours away and only got an hour. He could have died if the oil got on the engine and started a fire. NEVER go here they are fucking idiots. read more

Take 5, more like take 40 minutes waiting. I asked them not to put synthetic in my vehicle and they argued that it would cause damage to my engine. I said I understood but still wanted the economy. After attempting to upsell me windshield wipers (mine were brand new) air filter (of course) and a flush of my coolant system (they said it'd run me about 100 bucks. BS) my total came out to $95. Because they used synthetic after I asked them not to. Feel pretty taken advantage of especially after waiting that long. Do not recommend coming here for literally anything. read more

DO NOT take your car to this company for service. On 2/10/2023, my son took his 2015 VW Jetta, that has been well maintained, to the location on Market St in Wilmington, NC for an oil change. When he drove away the oil pressure light went on and he returned to the shop for them to look at it. He was then told that there was a "part" missing and they needed to go to the VW dealer to buy one then was later told they couldn't get the part and that is was probably a faulty sensor and that he should take it to the VW dealer for them to run diagnostics on it. He immediately went to the VW dealer for them to run diagnostics and was told it needed a new engine. The mechanic stated the engine damage was a result of the oil change. I called the location and was told that they would not cover the damage and would not provide the name of the general manager or regional manager for me to discuss this with. They are well aware that they caused this damage - they refunded the oil change entirely and tried to replace a "part" that they noticed was missing. This is complete and total negligence. I tried to reach out to the various customer service lines and they all went to voicemail. I am warning others because "quick service" is not worth risking extreme damage to your vehicle. read more

Went in for service at Take 5 in Wilmington, NC on 3/11/2021. A week later the car literally sounded like it was going to explode. Even with the keys out, I've never heard sounds like this, plus the windshield wipers started running and the clock started flashing a date in January. The service visit from Take 5 ended up costing me $825.98 in damages, which I believe was a discount since this service person felt bad from what happened. I am also attaching several photos of broken parts and failed diagnostic tests showing complete incompetence. You can see in one of the photos, they simply decided not to bolt down the bar over the filter; Instead, just tucked it in the corner. They neglected to check levels which ended up causing major damage. Replying to your Yelp message. I was contacted by the local store once. He told me he would get back to me with a resolution. I have been taking my car here for 2 years now and they have been slowly increasing prices and adding charges. They don't tell you and make you feel silly when you ask why it's there. Was charged for a "shop service" and extra oil. Took my car to Take 5 Kerr/Market Wilmington, NC to get an oil change. Less than a week later my car starts acting funny, had to take it to the dealership. $250 later we took all the supporting documents up to Take 5 and asked them to reimburse us however in return they said that they would give us $300 in free services. Are you freaking kidding me??? There is no way that I'm going to take my vehicle up there for them to fix when they can't even do an oil change. I have taken my car here multiple times and unfortunately had a issue where I had to have a specialist serviced. I went ahead and asked that they give the car a once over and tell me what needed to fixed. The oil and filter from what I was shown and told looked to have been there well over just the 3000 mile limit. Keep in mind I work in town and drive maybe 100 miles a month. So just throwing this out there. Might want to stay away. read more

They communicate with each other, they are efficient, they are not pushy at all. They had my "hard to find" air filter in stock!! They are conveniently located right on Market and Kerr. Went today for the first time. Was in and out within 10 minutes only to have to turn back around 30 minutes later because my oil pressure light turned on. This light has never come on in my car before leaving the shop. I drove back to the shop only to find out someone had placed the wrong oil filter in my car. Just a careless mistake that could have been thousands of dollars in damage. It was stressful and the workers could have cared less. Will not be returning ever!! Pissed! read more
