I've been a loyal customer of Take 5 Oil Change in Lexington, SC, for two years. On November 14, 2024, I had my wiper blades replaced there, only to find out they charged me an outrageous $31.99 per blade--$63.98 for the pair. The same blades are available online for just $9.00 each. I feel completely ripped off by Take 5. When I called the Lexington location to address this price gouging, I was told nothing could be done because the prices are "set by corporate." I then reached out to Take 5's customer service, hoping they'd resolve the issue. Instead, they claimed I didn't have any recourse and there's no phone number for me to contact corporate directly. This entire experience has been disappointing, and after this blatant overcharge, I'll never return to Take 5 Oil Change. I would strongly advise anyone else to do the same. Great customer service, fast, and quick! I normally go to Walmart, but didn't feel like dealing with them, and waiting around. I pulled in, they gave showed me the different choices and prices, I agreed on the normal oil change/ filter. They filled al my levels and checked my tire pressure. Yes even with the military discount it was $3.00 more than Walmart but so what....I would rather pay for quick service any day. I went to the location in Lexington SC. The young man checked me in and sold me on getting the 41$ wash in and outside cleaning. I get home notice it wasn't clean or shinning as what I paid for. I return to the check-in booth. The guy there gave me alittle attitude,so I told him sir I paid 41$ and my car isn't CLEAN! He goes at a sponge and wipe the spots I pointed out. Remind you I paid for the extra shine and wax,he told me what he did didn't matter about the wax. At this point I'm getting a attitude,so i just said ok sir thank you and left. Almost two months later (I drive over 100miles a day minimum), and I decide to go to a different shop in town, Express Oil Change. While I'm there I ask the guy to check my coolant to see if it looks like it needs flushing. The guy came back and said "No Ma'am, its really clean, looks like it was just changed". To be clear - I have NOT had the coolant flushed and changed since I went to Take 5 on January 19th. Take 5 was just trying to pad the bill at my March 19th visit. they did a oil c and said I needed a radiator flush.. during the flush my car stalled and wound not restart. They pushed it out of the bay and said they would fix it. Well what the did destroyed my motor. It overheaTed the car and now it will not run. I had to replace the motor. cost me over 8 k for their mistake and refuse to talk to me and return my phone calls. I was quoted a price on a Mobil One synthetic oil change for my truck. Halfway through the oil change (when it was far too late to refuse service) one of the employees informed me that my truck required two extra quarts of oil that they were not including in the price I was originally quoted. They up-charged me an additional $9.99 per quart, essentially pulling a bait-and-switch on me. Even with the "military discount" I ended up paying about $20 more than I have at competing locations in the area. After I was told that I was "good to go" and was being guided out of the bay door, the employees started yelling for me to stop because they had forgotten to secure the access panel for the oil filter underneath my truck and the panel was hanging down onto the ground. I'm going to actively recommend that people in my community, including military co-workers, avoid this place because of their deceptive pricing techniques and lack of attention to detail. Since I am not one to present problems without solutions, the following things need to happen: 1. Clearly display prices and terms for ALL services and products offered. 2. Properly educate employees on pricing structure and how to communicate that structure to customers before beginning a job. 3. By enacting (1.) and (2.) above, avoid deceptive pricing practices that could result in dissatisfied customers. 4. Train employees on the proper use of step-by-step worksheets for each job they are performing and train them to follow a punch-out list for each job they are completing. 5. By enacting (4.) above, avoid future failures to perform adequate work and prevent missed maintenance items which could result in damage to vehicles and/or subject customers t physical danger. *Update* While driving down the highway my skid plate/access panel came loose and was dragging on the surface of the road. I spent a considerable amount of time underneath my vehicle on the shoulder of the highway in the middle of the night using zip-ties to secure the panel back in place. read more

Dealer said when someone change oil he took my original oil filter and put one cheap filter inside. This cheap filter is not work for my car. This was my first time here. I usually use a local mechanic or big box store. Charmaine, the shop manager, was amazing. She was friendly and quick. All the staff were incredibly respectful, and service was amazing. Getting the oil changed is a chore I just don't like to deal with, especially as a woman when some mechanic tries to upsale everything or imply my gender makes me incompetent. This was totally the opposite of the service I got here. I was treated respectfully and even made to laugh several times. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes! read more

When I pay almost $100 for an oil change for 6 qts synthetic oil, I expect it to be done right. Had oil changed several weeks back and after a few days noticed a small oil spot under the car, nothing big. after several more days of this I noticed that the spots were continuing. After a few days of letting the car sit, I went out and touched the oil filter. It turned easily with just a 1 finger touch. I have tried to call them 5 times and keep getting that the voicemail is not setup and then get a hang up. Ridiculous that they can't get an oil filter tightened correctly. I love getting my oil changed here. The customer service is on point. Last time I got my oil changed it was myself and my girls. They handed us a bottle of water and two Capri suns for my daughters. They were very friendly and genuine. I had a digital coupon that they took no problem and the entire process was super simple, just sit in your car and done in about 10-12 minutes. Had a subpar experience at this location. my husband and I came together to get our oil changed in our cars. I pulled in after him. The employees didn't know he and I were together and assumed we were separate customerS. After waiting for maybe 5-6 minute, an employe, Jade, asked him to back up and moved me into her bay claiming I was there first. My husband indicated at he was there first but it wasn't a big deal because it was his wife he was moving for. We backed up and switched lanes and I moved into the bay. I heard Jade tell another employee to give my husband $10 off for the confusion. The other employee nastily asked why and was not pleased by the $10 off being offered. Jade worked on my car and I presented a $10 off coupon from the website. My coupon was not applied to my transaction. my husband had a coupon and was promised an additional $10 off for the inconvenience and did not get either discount. Went to get an oil change and while they were doing it 5 employees were in front of my truck which seemed sketchy so I went home and took a look and noticed oil coming from the plug and the oil filter so I went back and told them it looked like it was leaking. Long story short if you're looking to get in a verbal altercation and have employees threaten physical harm come here. And to Leonardo (I think was his name) thank you for being the only one trying to fix the problem and being professional during this whole experience. However, I've now called three separate times and not once has anyone ever picked up the phone. That's not a good sign... I don't care what the business is in. If you have a phone, expect incoming calls and prepare for it. There doesn't even seem to be a voicemail system. Even if you just replaced them a week prior. I understand they are told from the company todo this tactic and sometimes it's needed. I was greeted this morning with a chipper smile, enthusiastic "good morning!" and a cool water by Matthew, who handled my oil change this time. He showed me my filter and what my oil looked like after changing it, and didn't make me feel uncomfortable or dumb for asking questions which is really nice, as a 25 year old female! All the guys are very polite, respectful, and kind which just adds a nice touch to their already solid customer service. They offer a service I wish I had the option to tip them for just because they make the experience great every time, even if you're only there for a few minutes. I highly recommend this shop! Took my car in for an oil change and they had trouble putting skid plate back on. The skid plate dropped down later in the week and required replacement. Take Five refused the claim rudely and abruptly. Were called me at 6:45 AM to tell me claim denied. I will tell anyone who asks not to use Take Five. read more
