I've been going to Take 5 on FM 1960 in Humble for quite a while, but I've completely stopped coming here--and to other Take 5 locations--because of a bad experience that shouldn't happen anywhere, especially from management. During one visit, my hood was slammed shut very hard, and I was told the person who did it was a manager. That's unacceptable. A manager should set the example, not treat customers' vehicles carelessly. I did not appreciate that at all. Because of that incident, I no longer trust them with my vehicle and won't be giving them my money anymore. I'd rather take my car elsewhere or directly to the dealership, where I know my vehicle will be handled properly. Very disappointing experience. read more

On April 21, 2026, I visited Take 5 Oil Change for a routine oil level check and top-off after having my oil changed about a month prior. I have used this location multiple times without issue; however, this visit was different due to a new associate servicing my vehicle. The associate checked and topped off my oil but failed to replace the oil cap. The very next day, my vehicle began making unusual noises upon startup, and within two days, black smoke was coming from the exhaust. Due to work constraints, I was unable to address it immediately, but when I finally had the vehicle inspected, I was informed that the oil cap had been left off, causing oil to spill throughout the engine compartment and into even the ground. This negligence created a serious risk of engine failure and required me to spend $800 on degreasing, oil treatment, and another oil change to correct the issue. This was entirely avoidable and directly caused by improper service. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of attention to basic procedures. This type of oversight could have resulted in catastrophic engine damage or total vehicle loss. Based on this experience, I will not be returning and strongly caution others to reconsider using this service provider. I am requesting reimbursement for the $800 in repair costs due to this incident. This is not just a bad experience--it is a clear service failure. Forgetting to replace an oil cap is a basic step, and the consequences I described (oil spraying under the hood, smoke, engine noise) are exactly what can happen when it's missed. Negligence that cost me $800 to fix. After looking more into the business, Take 5 has an enormous amount of liability and lawsuits cases--research for yourself. 5 minutes of a quick oil change isn't worth gambling my vehicle for and I'll rather wait 1 hour in the future than risk not having a vehicle at all. read more

I recently visited this Take 5 location and was disappointed with my experience. During my service, one of the employees slammed my vehicle's hood very hard -- and I believe it may have been the manager. When I expressed my concern, I was told to return to have the hood checked, but I don't feel comfortable going back after that incident. Quick and easy car inspection. Troy was on duty and I interrupted his lunch but he didn't seem to mind! He informed me of my gas cap not passing inspection and he directed me to the nearest O'Reilly... I was back in 10 minutes and he got me all squared away. I truly understand why this facility has a 2 star rating. The gentleman greeted me right away but all 3 of the employees seemed to have other engagements such as walking around with the phone and in his personal vehicle. The other one was in and out of the pit. To say the least I understand things take time but if they treated the cars there like a priority and done their other duties we would feel important. Had my oil changed and they charged me $100 bucks. They did not put an "O" Ring on my filter housing, or on my drain plug, so my car leaked oil all over my driveway and caused a huge mess. I had to re-change my oil. I'll NEVER go back! read more

Stopped at this location because they had a big red sign in front of their location that says $24.99 Oil Change. I spoke to the employee and stated that I wanted a Oil Change and my oil and filter were in the vehicle. At the time of payment they charged me $32.99. I asked why I wasn't getting the special price and he stated that they gave me a full service oil change and not the $24.99 special. Apparently the fact that they checked the tires and fluid levels this constituted a full service oil change. However I never asked for these additional services I only stated I wanted a oil change. The manager on duty was no help. They have lost a longtime customer there are to many places to get a oil change and not be treated in this manner. read more

Sent my girl friend there to have an oil change, they took advantage of her being female and alone and up charged her for double the cost. Her SUV is an old 2014 CRV and takes regular oil which normally cost 32 dollars. But they told her that her car will need an synthetic oil change which cost 80 dollars. This place is very dishonest and who knows if you would get the actual product and service that you paid for or not. They may just have you pay synthetic while only use regular oil. read more

I would mush rather be writing a positive review but after my recent experience I can't. I have been using KWIK KAR LUBE on 1960 in Atascocita for many years. After today I will NOT EVER go back. One star is too high for the scam they tried to pull yesterday. We all know every lube place tries to upsale their customers. I get it, I even expect it. But there is a difference between a questionable upsale of wiper blades or an air filter and flat out LYING. They told me my front brakes were thin and need to be replaced. They didn't bat an eye when I informed them the brakes are relatively new. I had a complete set of new brakes in February. He even offered to show me how thin they were. I told him if there is a problem I'll take it to who installed them. I went straight to NTB told them what happened and asked them to look at my brakes. The man at the counter told me that they get a lot of people come in for second opinions after they went to Kwik Kar Lube. My brakes are perfectly fine! They looked almost brand new. KWIK CAR LUBE has lost my business permanently. That will be the last $88 they get from me for an oil change. That is some SHADY BS they are pulling. I posted on my neighborhood site and discovered they have pulled the same or similar scams with other customers. I detest any business that will stoop so low and scam its customers. read more

Abranda and her crew provided exceptional service on my oil change. Abranda discovered a problem with the oil filter housing. It had been put on too tightly by the last place I got an oil change. The housing had to be broken in order to get it off, and Abranda replaced it at no cost to me even though it wasn't her shop that caused the problem. ABSOLUTELY STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS! Sent my wife in for an oil change and tire rotation. When she came home she said it was wobbling. One lug nut was missing and I unscrewed 4 with my fingers! She literally could have been killed leaving here. When we got it rectified they would only refund the tire rotation! Thanks for the $20 back! I had great service here. The GM, who is new, took time to answer my questions and did an oil change without trying to over sell me stuff I didn't need. I will be back. By the way, the upcharges for synthetic oil is normal at oil change places so I wasn't surprised about that. I am glad I listened to my friend and went in to this Kwik Kar. read more

My dashboard was accidentally broken by the technician during an oil change. The parent company took care of it and replaced my dashboard in a timely manner. I want to applaud the new management. BEWARE!!!! You can get a cheaper oil change from the dealership, than from here. They say they use the best oil, but then they charge you for semi synthetic upcharge, bottled oil up charge, syn blend charge, this is a scam. And I just had my air filter replaced at the dealership, and they told me that I needed a new one, and I needed my engine flushed. Go somewhere else, don't give them the business, like they are giving their customers. read more

Zero stars would be more like it! BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! They stripped the oil pan on my car and caused a leak. They tried to blame on previous dealer. My car never had the oil leak till they got a hold of it. Then told my husband it came in with one. Then told him if he didn't leave he would have him arrested. They wouldn't give us the owner information. But I called around and got it. The other place said they were shady crooks and carry no insurance. After doing some research, Google reviews and so forth, this is a common practice for this place. PLEASE PLEASE BEWARE!!! Hope this helps others. read more

They are quick, and didn't get the inside of my car dirty. What you want in a oil change.

Not being a car expert, I don't know whether they did a good job or not. They were very quick and pleasant. But I don't like the pricing and upsell tactics. The lowest oil change price listed on their price board is 31.98. But a basic oil change with synthetic oil for my Lexus SUV was $98. The reasons given were a required oil filter change, the fact that my car requires more than 5 quarts, and the upgrade to synthetic oil. Maybe this is what every place would charge, but it sure seemed steep! And I didn't like the efforts to convince me to change the air filter for $45 or flush the engine for around $99. With both of these "strongly recommended" services, I was told I could get a discount for doing it today. Generally when I'm told there is a price, with a special discount just for me or for acting right now, I feel like I'm being scammed with some ridiculously inflated price or uneccesary service. Perhaps I'm just a cynic, but I felt as if it was the old, "here's a girl that knows nothing about cars...let's get her to pay a bunch of money for stuff she doesn't need". read more

STAY AWAY! In November 2013, we brought our late model, seldom driven vehicle in for a basic oil change. Everything checked out fine with no concerns brought to our attention or documented on our receipt. Shortly after we got home we noticed a leak, so my husband brought it back because it had never leaked before (not since the day we bought it brand new). They told him that it had been overfilled and they cleaned it up. It continued to leak and finally on the 3rd trip on that same day, the manager said that the drain bolt had been stripped. He explained that this was common with older vehicles. They said they would put a "sealant" on it and that would stop the leak. Today, with less than 1,100 additional miles since the oil change, I noticed it leaking again, so I brought it back in. I spoke with the manager. Before I could finish explaining what had taken place, he told me that he wasn't the manager then and couldn't verify that they had done the damage. As I continued to explain and try to show him my receipt, he continued to tell me how they would not replace my oil pan or put in a new bolt that is meant to fix this type of problem. He also told me that I had been misinformed about the "sealant". It was actually something used to determine whether or not anyone had tampered with the area. He said he could check it but he had no way of knowing if they had actually been the ones to put it on. He never looked at my receipt to see what was on it or when the work had been originally done or on the computer to see if anything else had been documented until I asked him to, which of course hadn't. After this, he mentions that a new owner had bought the business (in Feb. '14) since I had the work done and such complaints have been frequent. Technically, he may be correct because of the lack of documentation from the previous owner's staff but he didn't know this until the end and was unwilling to even discuss a resolution from the beginning. Since according to him, they don't pay for any of the options to fix a stripped bolt; I wonder what it is they do when they strip a customers bolt? read more
