I hope that this review can be changed later, but for now, this was a pretty bad experience, and it isn't clear that this is an ethical dentist. My daughter had 4 teeth extracted. Prior to choosing Dr. Takahashi, and given time to review our insurance, they wrote that the estimate was about $280. After the surgery, they waited a month or two, then billed us for considerably more. Remembering the estimate, I did some work because the bill was not at all clear what they were charging me for, and found that they were charging us full price for multiple anesthesia shots. So I called. The woman reviewed the bill and agreed that they were charging us full price for something that the insurance was suppose to pay for. She mentioned that their office had not submitted all the info to the insurance company, so it was rejected, and then they just billed us. She said they would re-submit to the insurance. This was a little weird in that if I had just paid the bill, it wasn't clear that they would have also re-submitted to the insurance. But she told me not to pay it. Another month or two goes by and sure enough I get the same bill, now 60 days overdue and again intentionally unclear as to what they were billing me for. At this point, I wrote them a letter to document that I had tried (and succeeded) to contact them and was told not to pay. I asked that they bill me correctly and make the bill not overdue. But I didn't hear from them. So I am not sure what is up, except that I was hoping to give them the benefit of the doubt that they made a simple mistake and accidentally overcharged. But this doesn't seem to be the case. It's hard to believe that an insurance wouldn't pay for part of anesthesia during a surgery, and they had confirmed this in the quote they gave us, and in the conversation with their staff. Instead, they seem to either want to be double paid, or they just have a significantly incompetent billing system. Either way is not good. read more
