When we arrived , around 12:30, there was a small glob of prime rib on the buffet ... the chef recognized this and brought out some more prime rib and made the comment " I would have prepared more if I knew I was going to have this many people ... what he served me on side was dried up whet leather ... the other side was a bloody pulp ... I did not fuss because I did not want to upset my guest ... but they will not have to worry about me returning after that dining experience

Though, they have those too. This under-discovered Kerrville Grille is offering up some of the best and freshest, homemade food in Kerrville. And, it's 5 page menu offers an amazing selection. For starters, they have an impressive list of appetizers - real homemade Fried Mushrooms, Onion Rings, Chili Cheese Fries, Shrimp Diablo, Southwest Eggroll, Wings (7 flavors and the size they use to be in the good old days), the best Cheese Curds I have ever tasted and many more. Their menu also offers - delicious meaty burgers (12 choices), salads, chicken, steaks, fish, BBQ; and oh yes, hotdogs. I liked the New York Dawg with grilled onions and sauerkraut. We can also recommend the Double Brew Burger. It's a full pound of lean burger topped with avocado, mushrooms, bacon, cheese, etc - made to order. Take home what you don't eat. It makes great leftovers. The Ribeye Steak Sandwich is also a good choice. They serve it cooked and dressed anyway you like it, on a real Brioche Bun. That's a real Brioche Bun. Not what fast-food restaurants want us to believe are "brioche buns". One taste and you will know to difference - soft, warm and pillowy (if that is a word) Brewdawgz's BBQ is perfectly seasoned, lean or moist with a great smoke ring - not too smoky and not dry or overcooked. BBQ sauce is truly optional here. BBQ is sold by the sandwich (7 choices), as loaded potatoes or by the pound. On special occasions/holidays, Brewdawgz serves BBQ beef ribs. These are a must try - big, smoky, meaty and rich. And, you don't have to go the San Antonio or Boerne to snag one. As for refreshments, 14 beers on draft (I liked the Dogfish 90 IPA or Firemans 4), 11 beers and ciders by the bottle, wine as well as soft drinks and tea. And finally desert, Cheesecake or Carrot Cake which they serve by the wedge. Not a little sliver, but a real wedge of cake. Highly recommend the Carrot Cake. Today marked the first time I actually drove in and parked to see what's inside. I was meeting a colleague to meet with the manager to solicit their participation in an event in September this year. Wow, the people are very nice and generally helpful. We walked around a bit and checked out their facilities. They have a dining area that serves lunch and dinner and brunch on Sundays. My colleague and I tasted some of their beers and we found out that their beer is delicious! I liked their Peach Radler and actually got a glass. Their German pilsner is also surprisingly good too. They have plenty of other choices but these were two of many. Overall, I'm coming back with my wife on Sunday to try out their brunch offerings. The staff is very proud of their brunch service so I made a reservation. Overall, this place looks first class all the way!

Beware The "Pastrami Reuben"…read more I saw that hundreds of people on Yelp had reviewed Cibolo Creek Brewing and overall ratings were over 4 stars. I should have done a bit more reading and looking at the pictures. We stopped in on a mid-afternoon Sunday in early June. First impression upon entering through the front door was confusion. It was not really clear what the process was to order and get a seat. We approached the bar area and then noticed the "order here and seat yourself" signs. Several people came in behind us and so we felt a bit rushed to order. There were several craft beers on tap, but I was told I could not get a flight at the moment. I was able to get a taster, but with all the people behind me waiting to order, I didn't feel I had time to find out more about the beers before committing to a 16oz pour or lose my place in line. Shame on me for not doing my homework. We tried "The BEST Burger" and the "Pastrami Reuben", both with fries and two beers for close to $60 plus tip. The burger wasn't the best. It was sort of "meh". The homemade fries were good. The so-called Reuben was closer to a brisket sandwich than an actual Reuben. The meat was very mesquite-wood-smokey and then appeared to have been fried on a grill (definitely not steamed). It was very chewy despite being thinly sliced and had NONE of the flavor good pastrami has. The menu claims the meat is tri-tip, but tri-tip is known to be a tender cut. The meat on that sandwich was NOT tender. Cibolo Creek Brewery is in a great location (which sort of explains the prices) right next to the Cibolo Creek Trail and River Road Park and they do have a nice covered outdoor seating area with large family-style picnic tables. I may return to sample a few more of their beers and see if there is something I like better on the menu.

Jägerschnitzel - A fair sized slab of fried pork goodness smothered in a red wine mushroom gravy. The pork loin was a good thickness and not an overly pounded thin cutlet. Breading was good, but didn't stick much to the protein. Gravy was just okay in my opinion and had a hint of sourness to it for some reason. Not a terrible entree but wasn't mind blowing either. Currywurst - The bratwurst with this meal was a solid portion of meat that was full of porky goodness. Curry ketchup had the spice flavoring to it, but wasn't particularly strong. It was a fair entree, nothing mind blowing, but still a good comfort dish. Sides - All the entrees came with a choice of two sides. Fries were just fries... good, but nothing special. Mashed potatoes tasted like the usual suspect, mashed potatoes. Potato salad was properly cooked and prepared with some simple vinegary and cream flavors. Red cabbage tasted like vinegared red cabbage. All in all, the sides were just okay. Everything was for the most part clear cut of what was good and just okay. In that terms, there seemed to be a strange and wildly large chasm between what was okay and good in terms of the food. I was satisfied at the end of the meal, but at the same time not unhappy nor super happy with my meal. I was just... satisfied/okay. Food felt a bit overpriced for what we received, otherwise this establishment felt more like a one-and-done type of place.
