One star unfortunately because I can't give zero! I came the day before Eid to find a dress. I am of mixed decent. I am half black, half Bengali. I'm not saying it was guaranteed to be racial, but I am saying she paid me no mind because she probably thought, "oh this black girl, she is just loitering." Anywho, the shop wasn't busy. Perhaps one family in the store already, and then another family that walked in same time as me. (I was the one that held the door open, so literally the same time.) She acknowledged them, immediately helped them, and bounced to the other previous family. At no point did she say hi or hello, or acknowledge my presence, as you're supposed to do in retail. Eventually, I said excuse me, as we were making eye contact. She literally walked passed me, and continued to the counter where she was just standing, not helping anyone. So I said "did you not hear me say excuse me?" She replied: "why, did I punch you?" With the utmost sass. I said, "no, but I've been here, and you see me looking and you just ignored me." She said "I am helping all everyone." Okay, so you're helping everyone and you just felt the need to exclude me right? And when I said excuse me -- it wasn't in the middle of her helping. It was as she was walking towards the counter. I even gave her a brief second. I would've stayed longer after and did my own searching without her help, but God forbid I put money in Tahzeens Boutique. I went across the street to find a dress, and I didn't even have to look! It was on display, and was my exact size. It was a hit at all the eid functions, and I certainly had a more accommodating experience. Idc who you believe in, God, Jah, or the Universe. Your creator will look out for you when you are a genuine person and move with love and have pure intentions. My intentions were to buy a dress at tahzeens, but I went elsewhere and left in 5 minutes. If you are not desi and don't fit her idea of someone who is in need of traditional clothing, you will be blatantly ignored. Such a shame to treat your own kind with such disrespect. Contrarily, if you love a mean, unpersonable, socially inept, grouchy woman with a lack of kindness and inability to acknowledge all her shoppers, this would be the place for you, I give it my highest recommendation :) read more

I agree with all the negative reviews unfortunately. DO NOT RECOMMEND. The ladies in the store next door seemed much friendlier and accommodating. The owner is extremely rude and doesn't know how to talk to customers. This was my second time going there once for a lehenga and now for jewelry. Both times i left empty handed. The sales lady seems nice. If the owner thinks you dont speak hindi , she thinks she can get away saying anything. I will advise her not to jump to that conclusion I have to add that the welcome i got was way different than the courtesy she extended towards a white customer. Owner seems like she didn't want my buisiness. They have pricier merchandise, not necessarily high quality, so i wouldn't recommend spending your money there. read more

Unfortunately we couldn't find anything because while they have an okay variety, things are pretty disorganized and you really have to dig to find something. I went wedding shopping here with my (now wife) and family. The owners were busy with other customers when we arrived. They did not acknowledge us until the other customers left. I told them I was looking for Sherwanis for a wedding. They pointed me to the back where I found several suits. I picked out a few that matched my measurements, but they all fit weird. Some sleeves were too long, some chest areas were too tight. I thought it was strange that all of them said 40R, but they all fit differently. The last suit, I noticed the buttons were loose before I put them on. I made a comment to my wife. I tried it on and it was too tight. When I told the owner's about the buttons being loose, they accused me of stretching out the suit. I grabbed my wife and family and I left. It wasn't only the accusation, but the tone of the lady was very condescending. Half those suits weren't even the right sizes, but they had mislabeled them. Not to mention, the whole place smelled like sewage. They really do a great job at making the shopping experience feel like you're in the motherland as close as possible. I ended up going to a shop in Houston and paying $500 for a pretty awesome suit. read more

I shopped all day for a place where someone would be welcoming and help me find a couple of nice outfits for a family event that I am attending. I finally found this place. I'm not sure of the other bad reviews, but the owner was awesome. She helped me find things that fit me well, and didn't push me to buy anything that I didn't want to purchase. I spent just under $400 on two outfits and I am very pleased with them. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good service. read more

The owner lady (annoying voice) is so RUDE. I bought a suit from her for $300 for a friends wedding and she asked me to bring it back to her for an alteration when I was ready to wear the suit. So I took it back after 3 weeks for an alteration and she asked me to pick it up in a couple of days. When i went to pick up, it was not altered to my measurements that she took and a lot of stones fell off from the suit right in front of her. She said I'll put them for you "don't worry" so I left it there for her to get it fixed. When I went back after 2 days to pick it up, I did not try it on assuming it would be fine since it's the second time. I went home and tried on my suit on and she actually made it worse. Zigzag stitches everywhere from the waste line and it was not even my size anymore and more stones were missing so I took it back to her. I told her it's not a joke for me to drive back and forth every 2 days to get one simple thing done she started arguing about how it's done right so I just stood there and told her to look then speak she finally agreed saying yea it's not done right I'll get it done AGAIN!!!! After a day I went back to pick up my precious suit lols Yet AGAIN she did not get it done the way I wanted her to get done. She hung up on me and was so rude. Please DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HER!! She is horrible and so rude with her customers and it's a complete rip off. She does not let you speak, she literally eats your face off! She does not know the value of her customers. I wish I would have read the Yelp comments before I gave her any business. P.S I bought a pair of earrings from her too all the stones were gone so I asked her if she had a new pair of the same earrings she goes no that's all She had so I decided not to buy it but the minute I said no to earrings she goes I do have them let me get'em from the back.... I am a regular customer here go for alterations anything from jeans to lehangas...and there are really good at altering the dresses the way I need and also suggest me if it doesn't work for any dress and how to go with it. They are really polite and also give the dresses on time and will notify me in advance if its going to be delayed. I haven't got a chance to buy the Indian collection they have though its a beautiful collection of jewelry and dresses, will definitely buy few dresses here. I definitely suggest anyone for alterations to go here and also to checkout the collection. read more

Wow! I don't even know where to begin. Spent $400 total on a dress and jewelry to attend a friends Indian wedding. The dress was a little snug so I asked the owner to have the bust taken out a smidge. Go to pick up the dress (mind you I am 45 mins away) and there's a note on the door with a number to call. Call ahead before going there anytime. She makes her own hours apparently. I wait on her to come back and rush out with my altered dress in a travel bag without trying it on bc I was now late to my appointment from waiting on her. I figure everything is fine, I spent $230 on the dress and assumed everything should be great! A week later I take the dress out of the bag (so wrinkled) and notice a strip of the beading is missing.. so I start inspecting the dress and there are strings everywhere, the seams are all sewn crooked making everything gather and look off. The hems don't match up in the armpits, its a complete disaster. I try the dress on and it's now huge. Looks like a tent. The sleeves are sheer and there is fabric that you can see on the shoulder that was not finished correctly. This is a disaster! And I leave for Chicago In two days. I rush to several tailors and none will touch the dress because of how bad it is. A group of about 8 girls purchase their dresses from this shop and am now hearing it was a nightmare for everyone! Do not go here! I have asked for my money back for I do not plan to wear this junky dress. I am pretty sure she won't be giving my money back but I hope many see her terrible reviews. read more
