It is amazing to see how much he has grown in such a short time. The teachers are simply wonderful! They are kind, patient, and really care about each child. They make learning fun with games, songs, and hands-on activities. We feel so lucky that our son is in such a warm and loving environment where he feels safe and happy every day. The Pre-K program itself is fantastic. It gives children a strong foundation for school while encouraging creativity and curiosity and religion. What I especially love is that Catholicism is part of the curriculum. Our son has been learning about faith, kindness, and respect. It means a lot to our family that his religious growth is supported along with his academic skills. The school is a well organized, well run safe place. The last day I was there all the teachers stayed late to rotate the toys- something they do regularly to keep the class room fun and interesting.

They keep everything clean! Super clean! I get there towards the end of the day sometimes and see some of their cleaning regime and it's beyond thorough, and I don't even see what goes on beyond the scenes! They take the children on wonderful field trips! Just last week they baked cookies and brought them to the local fire department down the street. I have seen them leave for some of the field trips and the adult/teacher to child ratio is perfect. They seem to be right on par with every code I have researched and go above and beyond to make it a fun, safe, and clean learning environment for our kiddos! We enrolled our daughter in the math program here about a year and a half ago. We are super…read morepleased with how much this program has done for her both in the classroom and also on her standardized testing that is done in her school. Before we enrolled her, we looked at two similar businesses in the South Meadows/Damonte Ranch area and found that this program was significantly less expensive than the other two. Additionally, we had a family friend recommend Best In Class to us. We decided to enroll our daughter because she had always received good grades in school, and we were truly shocked that her standardized testing scores showed her math below the 70th percentile! When your child only gets A's and B's on their report card, it's worrying when their standardized testing doesn't reflect that. After about 7 months of math lessons here, once a week, she tested at the 96th - 99th percentile range on her last standardized test for math in her school! We were so pleased with this improvement, in such a short time frame, that we recently signed her up for the English lessons too. Our daughter really enjoys going to the weekly lessons here. They give her "Best In Class Dollars" when she gets 100% on her tests and she can use these to buy fun little trinkets for rewards. She brings home a homework packet each time, and does 3 pages a day. It takes about 15 minutes a day generally. The next class, she takes a quick test to ensure she has learned the last week's lesson. After that, she reviews the next lesson with the instructor. We've found the lessons are broken out in very easy to understand concept groups for her. Most importantly, she tells us the teacher to student ratio is low in her classes, so she gets a lot of individual attention in each lesson. We definitely recommend this Best In Class! The staff is very kind and professional, and our daughter has had excellent results with this program!

For this first portion before I go into detail why I am relating Sierra Lutheran a 1 star rating, I…read morewant to highlight some positives of Sierra Lutheran. This review is of my experiences at the High School, it will differ to each of their own, but I believe sharing my experiences can be beneficial to know. Sierra Lutheran is a high school that is focused on community with students. You get to know everyone. Whether if that is a good thing or a bad thing, is up to your opinion. With that in mind, I met a lot of people that I can consider to be lifelong friends due to that small community. Along with that, I had some of the best teachers I've ever had in my years of education from public education to private education. Those individuals know who they are, as incredible men and women who dedicate so many hours to show that they care about their students. Here is now, the next portion, of why I am rating Sierra Lutheran 1 star and I will try to be as direct to the point as possible for any possible future students and parents: From my time at Sierra Lutheran from 2019-2023, I have seen the school changed dramatically. Multiple shifts in leadership and constant change that harmed the student body in many ways, both mentally and spiritually with religious practices. I have seen staff members who left unexpectedly during the school year from some kind of fallout with the school. I have seen really bad things that have been covered up in the process of that. As someone who was known as "The Voice of The Falcons," I was high enough in status to see many things that should have not occurred in an educational institution that most students would not normally witness. Behaviors such as covering up certain wicked situations so parents would not unenroll from the school. You can ask any student that went and graduated in the last 3 years or longer, of their experiences and quite a few would express a similar view. You can even ask any current students at SLHS who have been there for over a year too. Among this, I was treated horribly by the school with my hours of volunteer work I poured into the school. To not even exaggerate, I at least put in over 500 hours, if not more, of volunteer time for Sierra Lutheran. Late last fall, I was called to volunteer for the school, which I put in my time as I wanted to help the school, which later on I was laid off without reason. I asked the Head of the School at the time about why this occurred, which they did not know. This led to the staff member who laid me off, to call me and insult me over the phone and call me a "crying child" and a "small child" among various insults that should have never been stated. No consequences ever came from that, as far as I know. That staff member is still at the school. There are many things I wish I could put in this review, but literally for legal reasons and to protect myself, that is as far as I will go. I made this review because recently, I was informed of still ongoing issues that are occurring at SLHS from a few close friends who still go there. It made me disappointed, that the school hasn't gone for a more positive direction. If there is anything I realized, some things in life will just never change, even under "new management" or if you try to advertise with flashy statistics or numbers. If you are contemplating whether if you want to send your child to Sierra Lutheran High School, I wouldn't. I would never send my child to SLHS knowing what I experienced from the school. I would heavily suggest you to look elsewhere, such as Bishop Manogue in Reno, if you are seeking private education and for your child to have a deeper learning experience with Christ.
