Be fair to say this is definately a gastro pub as meals are its main priority and punters are not allowed to go there for just a drink. Drinks are a bit pricey (just as well it is not a drinking mans pub !). The place is ideal for family, groups/friends & couples. The place is always very busy (they can have up to 500 booked in on a Sunday lunchtime !) so booking is definately advisable. (As it happens my current employers frequent the White Lion, so I was volunteered the phone numbers of the landlords. So I took them up on that and booked for Easter Sunday.) My family and I were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent. My father and I had garlic mushroom for starters, whilst my sister and her husband & daughter had French Onion soup. We all had carvery lunch, there was a good choice of vegetables and meat and two types of stuffing even (the small joys of carvery!). My mother had her vegetarian option of quorn fillet with vegetarian gravy for main plus veg. The family followed on my rather large ice cream sundaes. The cost was reasonable for the meals £8 for one course, £11 for two courses and £13 for three courses - so quite competitive with other rivals. The staff are very friendly courteous and pleasant. The service is quite quick & prompt. The atmosphere is very family friendly too. In all a very enjoyable experience, made for a nice alternative to some of the offerings at chain pubs. The advert stated they are available to take your orders now and to book your table, delivery or takeaway. Often passed by the pub as it is on the main bus route to Swansea and about 10 minutes ride from the center of Llanelli. This unassuming village pub is in on the main road in Bynea. Decided to go with two friends it check it out and give it ago. Never set foot in the pub before, it was small cozy and friendly. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. We were served swede, mashed potato, carrots, cabbage, roast parsnips, soaked peas, roast potatoes, stuffing, Yorkshire puds and homemade gravy! Myself and my companions tucked in and found it very enjoyable. We followed on with dessert ay £2.95 each; I had chocolate fudge cake & cream whilst my companions had a jam sponge and ice cream. Also understand the landlords are relatively new and the pub also does evening meals & breakfasts too. Highly recommended will go back again soon.

Unfortunately where I was sat the beepity beepity bong of an attention seeking quiz machine somewhat disrupted any spell. Evans Evans Warrior from a barrel behind the bar was good and Theakston dark made for a competent sidekick (The supervillians being The Speckled Hen and The Abbot). Looks like they normally have a couple of beers served from the barrel, but possibly by Sunday a weekends heavy drinking had weakened them.

I've only ever seen one on at a time - when it runs out, another is tapped - but it's always worth trying a pint (it's quite reasonably priced, about £2.50 a pint right now). The staff are lovely, the pub quiz on a monday night is always packed with a mix of older locals and younger students (getting along fine!), and there's often live music courtesy of local bands and singer/songwriters.

Mike keeps Reverend James and London Pride on the pumps at all times and there is always a great guest ale too. Last night he started with Sharp's Doom Bar and then changed the barrel for Tribute two great beers that were well kept. The place was a hive of activity last night and the locals and visitors alike obviously enjoyed the beer and the good company. Mike has created a fantastic beer garden too, which overlooks the marsh and the beautiful church at Llanrhidian. He keeps ducks and chickens, which children enjoy watching, and these birds provide fresh eggs both for the kitchen and for the out sales customers. A large car park is available, and the pub is just down the hill from the bus stop.
