He is so…read moreexcited to go to school every day, and in the car each morning, he talks about how he's going to hug her when we arrive. She has worked hard to develop individual relationships with all of the children in her care. She knows what's going on with them because she's legitimately interested in their lives and in figuring out how to better serve them in the classroom. My 2-year-old frequently tells me that she loves him -- he can feel that deep love from her. That means a lot to me as a parent because I know I'm leaving him with someone who truly cares for him. Her artistic talents combine with her precise attention to detail to create a beautiful classroom, but the best part is that the decorations aren't at all "stuffy." They are comprised of the children's work and photos, including family photos from home. My son is always excited to show me that something he made is hanging up in the room. Ms. RJ is one of those people who you meet and just instantly feel safe and welcome around. Her light shines brightly for all to see, and I am so glad my son gets to be in her classroom. She welcomes all parents to be involved and finds opportunities for the children to do special activities. My child is growing as a whole person under her care, not just academically. I love that he's so loved! The bottom line is she's amazing, and every child should be so lucky so have a teacher this caring and wonderful. She truly goes above and beyond.

The lady giving us the tour said they just finished mopping (which is why the mop was left in the hall). It doesn't make sense to mop with chemicals where toddlers are laying, while they're asleep. The lady that gave us the tour was sweet. The director, Lisa, has a nasty attitude and was very unwelcoming. We decided this isn't the best place to send our daughter.

I had my daughter here for a 2 week 4day program and I could definitely see her confidence and abilities improve! She loves coming here. Also, you need to have goggles for them here. I mention that because in TX, where we're from, they didn't necessarily need them until they were in competitive swimming. Oh and another tip, it's inside that big Green dome type tent enter on the right. Restrooms are in the adjacent building in the locker rooms. I didn't know all that.

At the time of this update, we have been back at swim lessons with all three kids for two months now and I'm just as happy if not more so than my first review. This is QUALITY swim education for kids. Long enough to help them make serious progress but short enough not to tax the attention span of a child. The new instructors are amazingly patient and kind. Ms Bethany is a fantastic coach, Martha is amazing as always and every week I watch avidly as my kids light bulbs go on and they master new skills. Best ever! My twins (3.5 years old) have been instructed at level 1/2 (toddlers) here for a month now. It's twice a week for 30 min each lesson. Mr. Skyler is their coach and we will be requesting him or Ms. Martha for every month long session that I have them signed up for until he has zero reservations. This program far surpasses any other instruction we've had them in since they were six months old. It beats the YMCS hands down. My son in particular was really afraid of the water to the point where he hated baths or showers and it became a stress beyond imagining. The first two sessions he was coaxed into the water with tand no allowance at all was made for his fear. It was just...ignored. And it was the BEST thing ever. He lived up to their expectations of performance and now he looks forward to swim class and doesn't hesitate to get in and while he might still have some fears, it doesn't show that much. This last class, he jumped from the side of the pool into the instructors' arms with glee, and he even goes underwater at their say so. I cannot rate them highly enough. While not every instructor we've had is experienced enough to get through my sons' barriers, they are ALL extremely nice and in a little while, those barriers will disappear and we will take any instructor that's available. We plan to continue at this school for as long as the children are still learning and loving it!

This is an awesome business and I'm thrilled that this exists in Memphis. Aerial arts is a…read morespecialized discipline, so some aerial arts gyms can seem really "closed" to those of us who just have a passing interest -- not so with High Expectations. They hosted a beginners Valentines Day workshop yesterday night that my husband and I really enjoyed! The gym sent out important info via email beforehand (bring water and wear pants that cover the backs of your knees). Instructors Danielle and Anne were welcoming, encouraging, and informative. The gym was heated (but there's no A/C in the summer), and there was a large area with thick tumbling mats, aerial silks, static trapeze (not the flying kind) and hoops (there's an official "aerial" name for that which I can't remember). We got to try out each apparatus and learn a few partner tumbling moves -- it was a lot of fun! They offer beginning class series (I think they said they are starting a new partner series in March), private lessons ($70) and shared private lessons ($35 each, you find someone to share with you). There's also open gym on select evenings for $10 (if you're already a student at the gym and want to come practice). If you've never tried aerial arts before, you should give it a shot at least once! Even for beginners, it's fun and challenging, and the team at High Expectations is kind and supportive.
