We love this place…read more My daughter has been attending classes for a few years now, and my son is expected to start this spring. Susan (Ma'am) is fantastic & runs a great studio with strong, fair, & competent instructors: -if your child or you are new, try out some classes, for a few WEEKS. -Shy child? Join the class with your child, or another child will help yours out (this translates even outside the studio, ie when siblings from class helped my daughter adjust to chess class at the library--great character building instructors!). -Special needs children? They're welcome too and no one bats an eye, the way it should be. -Classes M-Sa. (MWF 4:30, TTH 5:30, Sa I don't know, but this is great if you've missed a class due to illness, other activities, long weekends, etc.) -Multiple kids? I would have to confirm, but I think that after the 3rd one, others are gratis. -There's a parking lot & if you don't or can't cook, Lucy's Kitchen is 2 doors down to pick up dinner. -Having a bad day? Ma'am will check on you and give you some helpful words, including reminding you how good your kids were in class while you were running after the crazy one. -Charity: collections for Homefront & Breast Cancer, annual run on Father's Day, more that I can't remember. -Self defense classes offered to women and older girls a few times a year, for free -GREAT instructors: they are fair & they understand children & their abilities, but also push them with positive reinforcement. If my child is acting up, they focus on the children who are acting like black belts and commend those students. If you, as a parent, don't think your child should get a reward, the instructors know and respond accordingly. -If you have little kids not yet in class and the back mats are free, you can entertain your crazy one. -The star system: for good behaviour, paying attention, and acting like a black belt, there are paper stars: 10 paper stars=1 blue star to attach to your uniform or card if you're a Tiny Tiger. 10 books or following a star chart at home? 1 gold star. Attending TKD events? Red stars. Positive reinforcement. -Whole families are involved--Mom, Dad, sisters, brothers. They train together & go to tournaments together. If you're not that type, that's okay too. You're free to stare at your iPhone or Macbook or novel during class, but you also don't need to be there--it's monitored and the instructors know who is or isn't there at all times--your kids will NOT be lost or allowed to wander off. I'm not sure how they do it, but they do (hence, I'm not a teacher). My kids are still little, and *I* am not quite ready for them to train in weapons. I keep adding the number of stars my daughter needs before we make that leap. She is learning discipline & friendship. She tries, but she's still little & used up her focus at school. For me, that's frustrating, but I've also seen her grow these past few years. The environment is safe, sane, fun. The kids and instructors are great. I myself am learning more patience simply by watching the class. I know my kids will eventually become black belts--they may become more serious, or not, but do they need it? Yes. Particularly my daughter, but it will be good for my son too. Thanks Ma'am!

I have never used JSK for martial arts instruction, but I have benefited greatly from their…read moreservices and character. Specifically, in the emergency that befell Flemington in Hurricane Ida. We were en route to a family wedding near Doylestown, PA, and arrived at the US202S-South Main Street intersection the evening of September 1, 2021 as Ida's flash flooding hit Flemington. The rescues reported in the media were extraordinary.  Once they had plucked an endangered soul from the raging intersection, and had "deposited" him or her on high ground (many on the Point Mall knoll at 245 US202S), they returned to the floodwaters to save others. But what became of the numerous soaked, cold people they deposited?  There was immediate need, but no care services (like Red Cross) were available because road access for hand-off care providers was non-existent. We can tell you what DID become of about 30-35 stranded souls from about 7:30 PM to midnight: the JSK Taekwondo studio unhesitatingly stepped up and opened its doors to all comers.  JSK's on-duty staffer was a model practitioner of The Golden Rule.  Not only did he provide a safe, warm place out of the storm for the terrified people on his doorstep, he offered what food and warm clothes he could.  And not incidentally, he also made bathrooms available, not only to the refugees under his roof, but also to those who had driven to high ground in the Mall and parked outside the studio for 4-6 hours.  All of this came at great personal cost ro the staffer, having to re-clean the studio from his dripping and dirty charges, before endeavoring to make the long trip home himself to Basking Ridge.  Given the road closures that night, I suspect that he may have ended up sleeping overnight at the studio. I'm sure that JSK's extraordinary kindness is reflected equally capably in its instruction, and I hope this review encourages many locals to seek out JSK's martial arts instruction.

The instructors are amazing. My kids and I were invited to a birthday party here and they loved how…read morecool the instructor was. We're looking in to signing up for classes...

It's been an excellent experience training at PAMA. I wish I had discovered this gym much earlier!…read more Sifu Mike, Sixiong Max, Sihing Harry, along with the other instructors are all phenomenal and encompass an extraordinary blend of expertise and professionalism paired with a respectable degree of gravity towards self-defense/martial arts. Sifu Mike and the PAMA staff manage to greet each student by name, which shows their intentionality towards knowing, developing, and valuing each individual student. The dedicated classes for Jun Fan Gung Fu/JKD, Muay Thai, and Kali are taught with a high level of expertise and structure. Admittedly, I gravitate towards formats that are disciplined and structured. As a result, I've thoroughly enjoyed the composition of the classes at PAMA. The instructors are always prepared with a lesson agenda for delivering quality content through warm-ups, technique breakdowns, and partner drills. While martial arts are taught in a fantastic way at PAMA, in the very words and encouragement that's often shared with their students--it's truly up to the individual to develop and progress through the time and dedication one puts forth. You get what you put in! Come and check PAMA out--it's definitely worth it!

I'm sharing my experience with both billing and program structure…read more From a billing standpoint, I enrolled at a discounted rate secured through an upfront payment. On early termination, I was still required to pay a fee for months not attended, and that fee was calculated using the non‑discounted rate rather than the rate I had prepaid for. The combined effect was a higher charge applied to unused time. This was confirmed as standard policy, and no adjustment was made. From a training perspective, progression was not clearly defined. A curriculum existed but was only shared upon request, and classes did not make sequencing or advancement explicit. Without a grading system or clear milestones, it was difficult to understand how skills were intended to build over time. Overall, this combination significantly impacts the value of the program relative to its cost. Prospective members should look closely at both the billing terms and how progression is structured before enrolling.

Originally I started Taekwondo with my grandson in upstate New York - class…read morestarted as a fun activity and I never took it seriously because my thought was , "I'm too old , I have chronic rheumatoid arthritis , how far can I really go" . After a few classes my confidence grew . I decided part of my bucket list was to get my black belt . A year and half ago I relocated to New Jersey and ask my grandmaster kim for recommendation of the best schools in the area. He called black belt world for me and spoke with master kim . Two years later I'm testing for my bodan belt - black and red - which will be preparing for the next year and half on testing for my black belt . This school is incredible . I'm in awe of the skills , hard work , dedication and tender patience each instructor exudes. They meet their students where they are at - individually- understanding each students unique needs and skills . Enhancing on those skills , they teach kindness, patience , self awareness and it's a killer work out . I've lost 15lbs since starting - their constructive critical lessons take their students into advancing quickly - when I first started i had NO flexibility NON I'm still lil rusty however it's incredible feeling when you can see the difference and feel the progress yourself . I'm amazed at what I can do . I used to compare , however when I compare my self to the beginning I'm truly astonished . Never thought I'd be able to do some of the things I've done this far - can't imagine what I'll look like in three years - " I swear it by the old gods and the new " , I plan on training til I'm a hundred - if the gods will. Thank you master Kim , Master O, Master Chung and Master Troy. This school is incredible !

Life-Changing Experience at Kickside Martial Arts!…read more Joining Kickside Martial Arts has truly been one of the most transformative decisions of my life. What began as a challenge quickly became a passion thanks to the supportive community, expert instruction, and motivating atmosphere this school provides. I'm currently a Sr. Blue Belt, and every step of the journey--both physically and mentally--has pushed me to grow in ways I never imagined. The instructors at Kickside are nothing short of extraordinary. They're not only high-degree black belts with impressive skill and experience, but also incredible teachers who are genuinely invested in their students' progress. Their passion for martial arts and dedication to helping each student succeed is clear in every class. The community here is something special. I've built meaningful relationships with fellow students who encourage and inspire one another every day. Whether you're just starting out or have years of experience, there's a place for you here--and you'll be surrounded by people who want to see you thrive. Seeing my progression (and the progress of so many others) displayed proudly in the front lobby is such a powerful reminder of how far we've come, and how much this school believes in celebrating every victory, big or small. Kickside Martial Arts isn't just a place to train--it's a place to grow, to challenge yourself, and to be part of something greater. I'm grateful every time I step onto the mat, and I'd highly recommend this school to anyone ready to start their own journey.
