The chips and salsa were basic (nothing to write home about) and the agua fresca was pretty standard as well. The burrito alone would recommend a second visit. Well, the broth was pretty great, actually,…read morebut the meat was...it wasn't chewy, but it wasn't always super tender as the best birria can be. It came with four tortillas, and then the usual lime and diced cilantro and onions, which always taste perfect in birria. I enjoyed the birria, but have had better. As mentioned before, the horchata is a slightly darker sort of horchata, meaning that it has a good amount of all those flavorful spices (and when I say "spices," this means things like cinnamon, or possibly cloves or nutmeg, and doesn't mean that the drink is "hot"). I like their horchata quite a bit. As usual, the service was friendly and attentive. This was our third time here, and we're always made to feel welcome here.

When I arrived, I noticed there was plenty of seating, and they had multiple TVs showing the World Cup coverage, which created a great atmosphere for anyone wanting to catch a game while eating. The staff was very friendly and quick to help me as soon as I walked in. When I finally sat down to eat, I tried my carne asada torta without any salsa first, and it was delicious. You could tell the ingredients--especially the beans and the carne asada--were freshly made, and everything came together really well. But what's Mexican food without a little kick from the salsa? I had asked for the green salsa, and to my surprise, it had almost no flavor. After looking at it a bit more, it honestly seemed as though extra water had been added, leaving it very watered down and stripping away the taste. Unfortunately, the fries were another disappointment. They were extremely soggy, and it seemed like they had been rushed because only about half of them had any seasoning. The torta itself was the highlight of the meal and is definitely something I'd order again. However, the salsa and fries left me with little desire to come back. Hopefully these are things they can improve because with a few adjustments, I think this could be a great place to eat.

It's a very small kitchen so a fair wait is to be expected, but they are usually great for pickup. The service is excellent. The building can get a bit hot inside, so if that is a factor for you take it into consideration. I'm a fan of places that put their investment in their food and their workers before fancy environs or trendy menus. This is definitely more in the genre of hole-in-the-wall neighborhood spot. The pupusas are excellent. Well-filled with no skimping. The flavors are excellent and I've already been a few times so I know they are consistent. The pastelitos were tasty and large and the salsas are always on-point. I saw others recommend the fruit salad drink, but have to admit it's not for me---it was mostly fresh apple bits which was not an enjoyable textural experience for a drink, but obviously lots of people like it. Can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for affordable and tasty Salvadoran food---particularly if you're in Adelanto/West Victorville.
