Forgot to include a picture of the elote and California burrito but it was fireee. The fries inside were seasoned and perfectly crispy, although I recommend eating it as soon as you get it versus waiting like we did because the tortilla got soggy from all the filling. Either way, flavor was still there and that's all that matters. The elote was top tier, I love that it's an actual cob and not one of those elote cups, those just aren't the same vibe. For tacos, we got carnitas and carne asada; both were flavored well but my only gripe is that the carne asade was basically minced beef vs chopped steak. Would go again but bring your mosquito spray!

So I gave an honest review about this food truck and the lady serving my husband food, who was super rude, her name is Jubilee. Doesn't live up to her name. She responded to my review by calling my husband a perv and laughing. If this were my employee she'd be fired. Maybe it's the owner. Who knows but Taco Bell tastes way better and costs way less. Don't bother with this place. The most disgusting refried beans I've ever had. If you click on the gray box you will see Jubilee's response to my review: your husband was a perv lol

Food was great, tasted like a true Cali taco truck burrito. Ordered the Cali burrito with asada. Salsa complimented the burrito. Truly my first satisfied taste of a great burrito since moving to Hawaii. Definitely going back. Service good. Nice tables and condiment table, very clean.

If you're in Hilo and craving some Mexican cuisine, Tacos Jalisco can definitely satisfy that craving! Ample amount of parking and tables in their lot. We got there about an hour after they opened and the area was vibing with music from their speaker. Service was quick and friendly. My first time trying Flautas and I got their Carnitas Flautas. The plate came with 4 pieces of flautas, refried beans and Mexican rice. I wasn't expecting it to come with the sides since it wasn't listed on the menu so that was definitely a pleasant surprise and made this place a great affordable spot. The carnitas flautas was fried with a nice crisp, the carnitas meat had a nice flavor and the drizzle of guacamole and sour cream paired everything perfectly. My boyfriend got their carne asada tacos and it was alright, a little on the dry side though. So the star of the meal was definitely the flautas and I would visit them again just for that.

I'm reviewing the new PunaKai shopping mall location in Pahoa. Although a good location and inside seating, local traffic is minimal unless there's an event happening. Same selection as their Hilo location. And they do have birria. The pricing seems a bit higher which is understandable (lease). I ordered the regular burrito w/carnitas and Flautas w/rice & beans total: $28. Tonight's wait time was decent (5-7 mins) as the previous time was unreal! for just 2tacos waited over 10imin. and the tortillas were hard and chewy. I do wish them luck! Once Ikaika Marzo's Western Bar opens their business should pick up also. We appreciate a new eatery in Puna . Luckily we still have Panchos and SiSi's.

#20 of 52 (weeks of trying a new restaurant at least once a week) I was on the Big Island for work and traveling from PTA to Volcano and needed to stop for some lunch. I hopped on Yelp and found this place had great reviews so I decided this was the spot. Yelp you did not let me down! This food truck is not far from Ola Brewing and it has a good amount of parking. It was a rainy day so I appreciated the tables being under a tent so I didn't have to eat in my car. I settled on the Birria Tacos. I've been on a birria taco kick lately and if I end up at restaurant where they have them then I'm giving them a try. I think the taco's were around $18 and came with rice and beans. I only waited about 10 minutes for my food which was reasonable. Especially at lunch time. You can tell this place is popular because there were a good amount of people there and lots getting take out. The taco's were hot so I started with the rice and beans. I really enjoyed the rice and the beans a lot. They had a lot of flavor and I liked how the rice was not clumpy at all. The birria tacos were delicious and the consomme was delicious. My only complaint is some of the meat was in large chunks and when I bit into it it came out in large pieces so sometimes one bite took out a lot of the meat. It would have been better if it was a bit more shredded. None of that would keep me away though. Next time I'm on the Big Island I now have a go to spot in Hilo!

I have been meaning to come to Taco Jalisco for quite some time and I finally made it a few days ago. When I try out a new taco truck I always order the carne asada tacos. That way it's easier to compare other taco trucks and Mexican food in general. I ordered the taco plate that came with refried beans and Mexican rice. Initially they got my order wrong, but it wasn't a big deal and they are gracious about it. The tacos are full of meat. The cheese is delicious and their hot sauce is great. However, I wasn't that impressed with the meat that they used. I prefer pieces of steak for Carne Asada. This is more like shredded beef. It was OK definitely not terrible. However, the beans and rice were absolutely spot on. Really good rice and refried beans some of the best I've had. Overall, it was a pretty decent meal. I've had better tacos, but it wasn't a dealbreaker for me. The Good. Solid Mexican food great rice and beans. OK Carne Asada tacos. The Bad: other than not using the kind of beef I normally like everything else is pretty good Chances I'll be Back: yes! I'll try a burrito next time and maybe some other options. Definitely worth coming back to.

Love tacos Jalisco, both their food truck and their brick and mortar restaurant. The food is not only delicious but the portions are great too! The service we've received has also been nice each time we've gone and the ambiance in the restaurant is clean and welcoming. Their food truck location is not really ideal - especially when it rains, but I'm just glad they are here in Hilo. read more

3 1/2 Best place for mexican food on this side of the Island for me, 60% of the time. BUT: I swear they switch who does the carnitas, and it ruins the other 40%. Usually, it's about perfect: flavorful, just crispy enough, etc. But other times it's nothing but a pork-infused pile of salt. Carnitas is my favorite thing to get, so I haven;t been going here as regularly: never sure if I'm going to end up giving away whatever carnitas dish I ordered to someone who doesn't mind biting into a salt crystal read more

Got the birria taco pack, and put away the whole thing in one sitting, so good! Best fresh, and they have plenty of picnic benches under the shade and lots of parking. The wait during lunch time was almost 40 minutes, so keep that in mind when you're deciding on when to come, but don't miss out - worth the wait! read more

Never had an issue with the food. Food is on point!! Not sure what was different with our visit today. Ate my 1st quesa birria taco out of the 3 it comes with. And below is what I had to spit out!! I was freaking out because from the angle. I thought it was a damn tooth!! It's a piece of a top of squirt bottle that was cut!! Unsure if there was anymore plastic that melted in the food!! The cost of the plate $18.50 plus tax. I never expected to experienced almost choking on this!! Lost my damn appetite!! Sorry but never going back!! Very good tacos. Had the 2 tacos (carne asada), and a fish taco. Very well prepared. Fish taco is either flour, or more likely white corn flour. The carne asada tacos were yellow corn. They were perfect. The asada Tacos comes with the hot sauce in a container, which is nice since my wife can't take any heat at all. The sauce does have a tiny, tiny amount of heat, but it's very tame. Tasty though. They carry a Sangria flavored soda, (non-alcoholic) which is also very good. 1/2 star off only for the ambiance part. read more

Went to the pahoa location on 2/18/25. wanted to try this place out. very disappointed. we got two plates of the tres tacos. beans and rice in the plate was cold. food had no taste to it. Asked for salt and she said no salt. Chips came out burnt. I dont like to send my food back. i ate it because i paid $45 for two meals. But wont do it again. Luquins is always my go to but figure i give these guys a try. wont make that mistake again. Nothing had taste. Not worth the price. Don't see these guys staying open for long. This food truck is a hidden gem! I decided to get out and walk around and I had noticed Tacos Jalisco when I started my journey. I was hungry as I was heading back to my room and decided to check it out. I was very excited to find out that they cook with canola oil. The lady at the window and the cooks were so friendly and were happy to make sure that it was just canola oil and not a blend. I ended up ordering 3 tacos, 2 were Carne asada and one was chorizo. They were delicious! I had an Oramge Fanta as my beverage. It was in a glass bottle and I feel that adds to this food truck being a hidden gem. I loved the picnic tables and the layout of their seating. If it was an option, I would give them more stars! read more

Bad service starting with the cashier who was very rude--- Canned beans taste "Mexican" blend cheese: not authentic. Flautas with flour tortillas with one strip of guacamole: not authentic To top it off- I Ordered $18 plate of quesabirrias and consomé and didn't get it. Went back to find out they didn't have any. I was offered a side of guacamole. I asked for a taco instead and they said no. Suddenly, magically, the consomé appeared. All that was authentic was the Jarritos drink. If you want Mexican authentic food. This is not the place. read more

Found this on instagram while visiting Hawaii. It DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The girl taking our order was very friendly and inviting. She also thanked us for our support since we also bought T's. Being born and raised in California where good Mexican food is a staple it's hard to find good Mexican food when traveling. It's usually fairly disappointing and yet we still try to find a good spot when the craving hits. Tacos Jalisco was so much better than I expected and definitely lived up to the near 5 star rating. The Carne Asada Tacos were authentic and so good! Tender, moist and flavorful meat. Serve fresh made and hot! Two for $5.50.....amazing deal. read more

Aloha I am originally from So Cal. I have been visiting The Big Island annually for over 20 years and moved here about 7 or 8 years ago. Outside of Lucy's neva found what I craved. Tacos Jalisco is the best and most authentic Mexican food I have ever tasted, bar none. I love ordering from Tacos Jalisco! The food is so yummy and they always change my order to have all rice, because I'm not a fan of beans. Sometimes the service can be a bit of a wait, but I know that my order is being cooked right then and there, and not sitting on the side in some warmer. Customer service is always great though, super friendly! Last time my kids and I stopped by after soccer practice on a Friday night and they had a big speaker playing some catchy Spanish music with color changing lights! It was so awesome, it truly felt like someplace we could sit, enjoy our delicious food and have a fun environment to chill at for a bit. read more

Food poisoning. Been sick for the past few hours after eating here. The food didnt taste bad. If anything it was on the bland side. Outside of what I ate of my meal coming out of both ends, I really don't understand all these "authentic" reviews. Have they ever had authentic, because bagged chips, canned beans, and watery salsa is not giving that to me. I don't understand why 99.999% of Mex. restaurants/food trucks just can't get it right. Disappointed again and have a rumbly in my tumbly. :( The search continues.... read more

It's Mexican food served out of a taco truck in Hilo Hawaii. Not the easiest challenge. The spot is not ideal but it works in Hilo. The locals like it. Had chicken flautas that were fine but not awesome. Also had fish tacos that were excellent. I'm a refried beans snob. The beans were ok. Spanish rice was fine. So we were at a loss for what to eat after a fun day at Craig Smith's Park and we needed something quick...good ole Yelp steered me toward 5 star food truck, Tacos Jalisco. Let me start off that I grew up in SoCal. I also live in the Bay Area, and have visited what's considered the best taquerias in California. I feel like I know really good Mexican food very very well. My family of 6 just inhaled EVERYTHING we just ordered. First, the woman taking orders was genuinely so very nice. The kind of person that is so kind you're like "man I hope that person has a great life." They also made our food crazy quick when they heard we were in a rush. We ordered: Shrimp fajita burrito Fish taco, a little spicy! Yum Shrimp taco Ahogado carne asada burrito (wet burrito) Carne asada burrito with sour cream and guacamole Carnitas burrito Quesadilla and I asked for shrimp. They asked if the fajita shrimp was okay and I said yes. Elote!! $117 they take credit cards EVERY SINGLE THING WAS sooooooo good. So tasty, so flavorful, so savory, and the fish and shrimp were incredibly tender and fresh. My quesadilla had tomatoes, bell peppers, and mushrooms and the gooiest cheese. Elote was so sweet and juicy and the mayo, cheese and chili powder was perfect. The fam wasn't even finished before they asked if they could have it again tomorrow when we go head to Akaka. Food was AMAZING!!! It was so good, we went two nights in a row!!! We ordered the Birria tacos, California Burrito with Carne Asada, Nachos with carne asada and chicken quesadillas. Went back second night, they ran out of Birria tacos (they serve Birria tacos everyday, got to get them before they run out) California burrito with carnitas, regular burrito with chorizo, and nachos with chicken. Both nights my family and I enjoyed the food with some jarritos. My favorite flavor was the tamarind. On top of the amazing food and drinks, the employees provided excellent customer service. I highly recommend Tacos Jalisco!! My family and I can't wait to get our next fix!! read more

Great authentic birria tacos! Came to Hilo, Big Island and was told by a fellow traveler this was the spot for some bomb tacos... and they were not wrong. Unless you're actively looking for it, you probably won't stumble upon it randomly. Between the two of us, we shared a single plate with garlic shrimp and lilikoi shrimp and three sides -- two scoops of taro potatoes (extra charge for having a duplicate side) and some broccoli. For close to $30, the shrimp plate feels expensive, but you actually get quite a bit of food -- definitely enough for two to comfortably share. Between the two types of shrimp (a plate comes with four of each), I liked the garlic shrimp a bit more. I loved how intense the garlic flavor was in the shrimp. In the past when I've had garlic shrimp in Hawaii, it's always been drown in a pool of butter, resulting in an oily coat around your mouth after each bite. The shrimp here uses a fraction of the butter and oil used elsewhere, leaving a much cleaner taste after each bite. With the lilikoi shrimp, my first bite reminded me walnut shrimp: there was a subtle sweetness to the shrimp. Unlike the garlic shrimp, the lilikoi shrimp are butterflied, making it easy to distinguish between which shrimp is what flavor. The fact that the shrimp can even be butterflied means the shrimp used here are quite large in size, indicative of the value you're getting with your plate. With the sides, the broccoli is well-seasoned, and the taro potatoes have nice large chunks mixed in. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my meal at Hawaiian Shrimp Company. I understand some folks would be quick to write-off a restaurant as understated as this one, but definitely give it a try if you're looking for some good tasting garlic shrimp.

The most authentic and well-priced Mexican tacos I have found on the big island. Small menu but that allows them to keep everything high quality and fresh and you can definitely tell. They have had a line several times when I have come through and I'm still in and out in under 10 minutes every time so far. The tacos are 80% protein, 10% tortilla, and 10% salsa/cilantro/onions. Bruh I don't know how anybody could give this place less than 5 stars! The Chorizo Tacos and Carne Asada tacos are the best tasting tacos I've ever had on or off the island. The only complaint I have is that it's in a small-ish lot so sometimes it's hard to see where to turn in and it's kind of hard to get out.
