He's here almost every Sunday, and we make it a point to stop by whenever we can. Chef Kingsley is not only super friendly and hardworking, but he also pours his heart into the food. He's always experimenting with new menu items, and everything he makes is both delicious and reasonably priced. Today we tried both the fried catfish and the grilled catfish, along with sides of potato salad and coleslaw. * The fried catfish was perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside--comfort food at its best. * The grilled catfish had that smoky char flavor with a squeeze of lime that made it bright and flavorful, while still juicy and not overcooked. * Both the potato salad and coleslaw were fresh and creamy, great classic sides that complemented the fish perfectly. Chef Kingsley's food always feels like it's made with care, and you can tell he takes pride in what he does. Between the quality, taste, and his kind personality, this is the kind of local gem that makes Houston so special. Highly recommend!

First off--this place nails the vibe. Colorful, cozy, and just the right amount of spooky elegance thanks to our fancy skeleton friend keeping watch(he's hanging from the ceiling lol ) It felt like Day of the Dead meets taco Tuesday, and I was here for it. They had a lot of cool collectibles and some dope wall art too. Especially bc I love the month of October and being a Scorpio myself I truly enjoyed seeing all of that. The food? Unreal. The I got was the 4 street tacos my personal fave was the Birria ones they were so good I almost cried (and not just because of the salsa)(Beware the green one it's HOTTTT).Portions were generous, flavors were bold, and everything tasted homemade. My brother who joined me that day had the enchiladas verdes and they were amazing as well! We washed the food down with A limonada Fresca that had cucumber bits in it.And again it' was free refills and we even took some of those to go. Even the chips felt like they had a little extra soul in them--probably La Catrina's doing. And let me mention that the cheese was complimentary and soooo good as well! Service was fast and super friendly, like they knew exactly how to keep the good vibes rolling. Honestly, if I could give this place six stars, I would--and I'd even share with La Catrina next time.

We would definitely recommend Uptown Catering and will keep them in mind for any future events we host in Houston!

I just catered breakfast for a family event with 20 people and spend $442 (including tip/delivery)…read more The food was mediocre and the portions were so small. I ordered "The Convention" breakfast which was "Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Breakfast Potatoes and Buttermilk Biscuits" - it came with literally 20 tiny sausage patties and biscuits total. So one tiny sausage and biscuit per person. I didn't count the bacon but it was a similarly stingy portion. No one had more than two pieces. The eggs were bland. The potatoes were actually good. But overall, it was so embarrassing to have the food show up and it be these tiny trays of hardly any food for over $400. I would have been better off ordering individual dishes for each person from a local restaurant. I thought with the high Yelp and Google reviews I saw, this would be a safe bet! I also ordered a 20 mini pastries for $3.25 each which were like pastries you get at a 7/11. At least if you are overcharging, let the food be good and not like you unwrapped pastries from a Costco haul. Worst of all was the coffee which was watered down and disgusting. Everyone threw theirs out so I just dumped it. What an utter waste of money. Also they only sent 8 cups with the coffee even though the breakfast was for 20. Stingy and bland all around. If you are catering for a small group, please save yourself the trouble and embarrassment and just order takeout from a local restaurant. I wish I took pictures of the spread but I was just too upset. All I took was the coffee which you can tell even from the picture was watery. ***The menu listed the items but didn't say only 1, 1oz piece of bacon per person - that's absolutely absurd for a normal breakfast portion. Who would cater one piece of bacon per person?

This Mother's Day, I wanted to do something truly special for the four most important women in my…read morelife -- my wife, my mom, my sister, and my aunt. I didn't want to just take them out to dinner -- I wanted them to feel celebrated, appreciated, and completely pampered at home. Chef Kane with Taste of the Sophisticated (TOTS) brought that vision to life with elegance and soul. From the moment she arrived, Chef Kane was completely locked in. You could see the passion in her eyes and the confidence in every step she took in our kitchen. She worked with a quiet intensity and grace, and watching her create was like watching an artist in her element. Every dish that came out was more than food -- it was a moment. The evening started with Truffle Macaroni Bites, perfectly crisp and paired with roasted tomato-garlic coulis and truffle aioli -- a rich and flavorful opener. The French Onion Soup, topped with golden gruyère and comté over toasted brioche croutons, was the best I've ever had -- bold, warming, and luxurious. Then came the Chicken Velouté, a velvety, refined dish with crème fraîche, fresh tarragon, and smoked sea salt. The Truffle Caesar Salad was a sophisticated take on a classic -- pancetta and parmesan crisps added the perfect punch. The main courses were stunning: Baked Salmon with citrus beurre blanc, roasted heirloom carrots, and fingerling potatoes -- light, bright, and beautifully balanced. Spinach-Stuffed Chicken in white wine garlic sauce with truffle mashed potatoes and wild mushrooms -- rich, earthy, and comforting. And the crown jewel: an 8 oz Filet Mignon, flawlessly cooked, served with creamy truffle butter, roasted Brussels sprouts, and silky mashed potatoes. Dessert was a celebration in itself: A Molten Lava Cake made with Valrhona dark chocolate and topped with 24K gold leaf -- decadent and unforgettable. And a delicate Madagascar Vanilla Bean Cupcake with strawberry coulis -- light, fragrant, and a perfect final note. What struck me most was not just the exceptional food -- it was how Chef Kane made every woman at that table feel seen and celebrated. Her presence, care, and artistry elevated the night far beyond any restaurant or typical catering experience. If you're looking to turn a meaningful occasion into a luxurious and heartfelt experience, Chef Kane and TOTS are who you need. I can't thank her enough for making this Mother's Day unforgettable.
