If there's ever a place that fits the "hole in the wall are the best places" saying it's this place. It's not fancy, it's not the most updated aesthetically, and sometimes the staff themselves can be very loud with no music or tv on, but at the end of the day it's the most authentic. The quality of the food is great, and so are the flavors. This place is hands-down my favorite Mexican restaurant! I just moved from Chicago Illinois and this restaurant taste better than any restaurant that I've ever eaten in Chicago, it comes with a good portion for a good price the food is always fresh, avocados always ripe, they don't speak English at all but they still understand what I want! My favorite meal is to order number 11 which is the Carnitas plate, that's what I would recommend anybody eating there. I drive 20 minutes at least twice a week to eat here, it's my son's favorite too! The best taco spot in the area. The tacos are only $1.25 and they come with 2 tortillas and so much meat!! Of course, they serve more than just tacos. You can taste the authenticity of this place. They have a variety of toppings such as salsas and veggies that you can serve yourself. They even have a pot of hot beans at all times. Please try their aguas frescas! It's so hard to even decide which one to get because they are all so good. The staff is very polite and friendly. If there's a mistake with your order, they kindly fix it right away. The restaurant does get hot sometimes but there's a couple of big fans inside the restaurant. They always have Spanish music playing which is a good touch. read more

Anything with pastor is delicious! Place is small nothing really fancy, but their food is good. I tried their asada once but the meat was to dry... I have been El Primo's customer for a good while. Lately, I've been having bad experiences, related to service and food quality, such as missing items,( we got tacos and she forgot to put cilantro and onions, and the meat was really bad my wife felt like throwing up after) attitudes from a female cook they have and so on. That lady gets the order-which is usually to go- and she keeps on doing tasks instead of taking care of the pressing matter which is a customer. WE HAVE TO LEARN THAT BECAUSE OF OUR CUSTOMERS, IS WHY WE HAVE OUR JOBS. AND WE'RE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT. WE ALL ARE CUSTOMERS AND WE ALL ARE SERVICE PROVIDERS AT ONE POINT OR ANOTHER OF OUR LIVES, AND ON ANY KIND OF RELATIONSHIP YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT. Today I ordered the super nachos to go as usual. Because I live 3 miles distance from where they're located, I ordered everything separated to avoid the corn chips from becoming soggy. So the cook that took care of the order started talking as if he was gay, then the other guy followed along. As if I was being gay just because I wanted all separate. The two ladies there,- cashier and prepper- were just observing them with a funny look as if in agreement or maybe like saying: "You'll are mean." I am not sure. Anyway, when I got home I was missing the beans, the avocadoes, and one of the cheeses. I had to call and go back to get a reimbursement. I did not feel comfortable with them fixing the order after their demeanor and attitude. When I went back in the same cook started singing a Mexican song and dancing as soon as he saw me. My family introduced this place to me, and after eating here once, I realized they must truly really love me. The tacos are amazing and addicting. I highly recommend the al pastor tacos, plus the food is affordable, we usually order the minimum of 30 tacos to share. Their salsa is ridiculously delicious. I sometimes dream and obsess over the tacos like they have this invisible hold on me. I don't know if it's lemonade, but there's strawberries and all things happy in that drink. If you go, you will see a few containers filled with juices by the cashier, the pink one with strawberries.....yes, pick that one. Oh, and the horchata is good too. I usually order tacos de tripa-extra crispy, al pastor and asada, with a side of grilled onions and grilled jalapeños. You need to ask for it. Great food! Great service! The green salsa it's one of the best I've tried at a taco restaurant IMO, the al pastor really good. I saw the negative review about the tripas being burned and I asked to have a sample, and they were fine, I actually like them crunchy and he gave me the choice, maybe he got a burned one bit to me it tastes fine, definitely not the worst... I don't give 5 stars any more unless it's AMAZING GOD LIKE RESTAURANT but this is definitely a 4.5 fresh food good taste great customer service... For what it is I would most likely go back if I'm on the area again. And it has an "A" from health department so that's a plus. read more

I came here because it was recommended from a family friend. She talked so highly of this place that the carne asada was so delicious. So me and my mom came in to order tacos de carne asada and a burrito. When we came in the restaurant looks dirty and it had no ac. You can see the cook prepare your food in front of you so thats good... But.... They pull out the "carne asada" out a boiling pot and slightly cook it on the flat cook top. Ew!!!! They have authentic al pastor, not that kind that is just marinated and cooked on the griddle...they have it on a vertical spit (the same way the the cook the meat for the Gyros in authentic greek rest) Great hours Weekdays they close at 10 and 11:30 on weekends and they have great customer service. Found this place through Yelp and I have to give it two thumbs up! My family, of five, enjoyed their meals and drinks. We ordered tacos de tripa (crispy, just how I like it), tortas de asada and carnitas, carne asada plate, and horchatas. The asada was delicious and the carnitas were not greasy. Totally felt like I was in Mexico eating with my family! I highly recommend this place. My husband and daughter even went back the next day, and she is extremely picky.
