We were taken to Taqueria El Guero which I suppose translates to light skinned person or…read moreaffectionately speaking "white boy." Seriously, after I took a bite into my Asada taco, I was in heaven or in our case, Tijuana. It was really that good. The meat was marinated so well, it was by far one of the best tacos I've ever had. The parking is somewhat sketchy as some people were double parked, but thank goodness I didn't have to drive here.

Amazing taco joint might I add!! I had 2 tacos de carne asada and 2 of Al Pastor. Delish!!! Not your average small 2 biters either. Had I known that I would of not got the quesadilla too. Both meats were tender and juicy and packed with flavor. They both got slapped with a heaping spoonful of guacamole which was pure avocado and not disguised by tomatoes and lettuce. Quesadilla was cheesy too. I like how the tortilla was buttery and crispy. Salsas were nice and spicy; a total of 3 to choose from along with limes and grilled green onions. Note: you order first, then eat, and pay at the end in case you want something else which is possible since everything looks and smells amazing..enjoy!

We came to Tijuana to experience the Tequila Expo and afterwards, we wanted to have some tacos and…read moremy friend brought us here. There was a long line to be seated but it moves quickly. We all got a bunch of tacos asado and wow they were fantastic! Im not much a taco fan but maybe all my life, I have been served mediocre tacos because this place was sooo good! Taco asado was 47 pesos which is about $2.50. After we ate our tacos, we pay with the cashier and I noticed that this place has been a Michelin awarded restaurant for the past 3 years. And well deserved! Loved it! All the staff here helpful, kind and happy. Next time I am back in Tijuana, definitely coming back here!

This was our very first stop after crossing the border into Mexico, and it absolutely lived up to…read morethe hype. It came highly recommended by both locals and fellow food lovers, and after seeing the incredible reviews, we knew we had to experience it for ourselves. We ordered a little bit of everything: tacos de tripa, tacos al pastor, tacos de asada, and an asada quesadilla. Every single item was packed with flavor and tasted incredibly fresh. The tripas were perfectly crispy without being greasy, the al pastor was juicy, well-seasoned, and had that classic balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors, and the asada was tender with a delicious char-grilled flavor. The asada quesadilla was generously filled with meat and gooey melted cheese, making it the perfect complement to the tacos. One thing I really appreciated was how convenient the ordering process is. They have a drive-through style setup where you simply pull up and park in front of the restaurant. An employee comes directly to your car to take your order, and once your food is ready, they bring it right out to you. It's such an easy and efficient experience, especially if you're eager to grab amazing food and get back on the road. It's easy to see why this place has earned such a stellar reputation. Between the authentic flavors, generous portions, friendly service, and convenient setup, this was the perfect way to kick off our trip into Mexico. I'll definitely be making this a tradition every time I cross the border.

Vintage Tijuana spot here! Las Ahumaderas has for decades been one of the better (top 3-5, arguably…read more#1) spots in TJ for tacos - highly recommended by tourists and locals alike. Las Ahumaderas is a collection of 5-6 taquerias on one side street off Blvd. Agua Caliente, one of the main thoroughfares in TJ. The taquerias offer very solid, relatively cheap tacos and tend to stay open until super late at night (often until 4 am). Las Ahumaderas is famously nicknamed "Taco Alley" and gained some international recognition after being featured one of Anthony Bourdain's travel and food shows. I've been several times but last stopped by Las Ahumaderas in September. The most popular spot there (and my personal favorite) is Las Tres Salsas - would highly recommend checking out that taqueria first if you've never been. The most highly regarded tacos here are the adobada (pork) tacos (my personal favorite as well). Ordered two adobada tacos, one suadero (cow belly) taco, and a Sprite. The nice thing about the food and drink at Ahumaderas is that a lot of the basic items are priced the same - each taco and the sprite were 45 pesos (around $2.50 USD) each. The tacos were all well-portioned, tasty, and filling (as usual). One thing a lot of tourists don't know is Las Tres Salsas has two levels, with the second level sometimes having a decent, relaxing view and atmosphere depending on the time of day. So I ordered and ate on the second floor (ordered from the server for that floor). Cash (dollars or pesos) are by far the most common method of payment but credit cards are also accepted at Las Tres Salsas and I think the other taquerias at Ahumaderas as well. If you don't speak Spanish there's usually someone at the register who speaks enough English to get by though the server I had that afternoon happened to speak very good English. Right after Las Tres Salsas I went to Tacos El Paisano, one of the other taquerias in the establishment. Ordered 1 asada (steak) taco, 1 cabeza (cow's head) taco, and a Fresca soda. Like Las Tres Salsas, all of the items were 45 pesos each. The tacos here were also good, though not as good as Las Tres Salsas; both of the tacos fell apart a bit due to being slightly soggy (though again they were good). I'm a picky eater but there are a wide variety of tacos, quesadillas, and other items to try between the handful of taquerias at Ahumaderas. Las Ahumaderas is about a 13-15 minute walk down Agua Caliente from Telefonica Gastro Park, another excellent foodie location in TJ. Must visit if you've never been before!
