When I see a food truck, I see a business. I've followed Taco Arcelia since I moved to Houston. It's a family-owned business at the same location for many many years. It doesn't move at all. Coming here can be challenging. From Clay Road going westbound, first try park at the same lot with Newthings Furniture Store. If not successful, try to park across the field at Advanced Auto shop. Coming from other directions, you can try navigate around to park. When the food is that good, I would drive extra block to come for some comfort food. But I only come here on weekends because of crazy traffic getting here during the week. I'm not 100% sure of its closing time. I see the truck pulls out around 10:30 p.m. as I heading home. You get to pick between grilled and fresh onions on their 4.5 inch double-layered tortilla. Besides tacos, they serve tortas and quesadillas. The food is wrapped with foil and piping hot. It's my warm-up food in the winter and comfort food for the summer.

Big bust in the ultimate Taco Truck search. I had been told by several people that the Arcelia taco trucks in spring branch were pretty good. I had driven by this location several times and always seen people there so I figure they were in fact good, plus the menu could be seen painted on the truck as I awaited for the green light in my car, and I saw they served tripas. We arrive and this is a pretty busy intersection, always cars around, I ordered one tripa and one pastor on corn tortillas. While we waited for our tacos, I sat on the stools which were tree stumps, a pretty neat thing I had not seen at a taco truck. When we finally get our tacos, they looked sad, I cannot explain how but I'm Mexican, believe me, I know a sad taco when I see one. Next the server did not offer us salsa, my wife asked him for it, he then gave us a green bottle and a red bottle. Most rookie taco eaters will immediately put the salsa on their tacos but not an expert, i put a drop of each on the back of my hand and had a taste, it was terrible. I omited the salsa from my tacos which were as follows, the pastor was not pastor and the tripas were flavorless. The tacos were a dollar, cheap is not always good.

I really like the tacos here. They are $1.25 now, but they came out quick and pretty tasty. They had two kinds of Salsa. I found their red salsas flavor OK, but the other was too dang hot. This place is hard to get to though. you can only enter from Gessner, and it backs up at the light. But if your stuck you can always shop at the furniture store there.

Southern California has arguably the best Mexican food in the United States and having experienced…read morethe joys of streetside taquerias in LA, I was elated to learn about Street Tacos Migue which has been operating near Bellaire Chinatown for the past few years. The experiences have been mixed, but I am holding out the hope for future potential. The setup couldn't be more ideal: visibility from the busy streets, plenty of free parking due to being in a lot, and a display of food with a proper pastor trompo and stewed meats, aguas frescas, along with a line of people. The eye test alone would fall in favor with my biggest desires of a taco scene minus the absence of any kind of seating. As far as I can tell, the following meats are offered: trompo, tripa, suadero, longaniza, pollo, asada. The fact they don't mention "fajita" is clearly a nod to how LA they are. (#1) Tacos are the most popular item but the meats are also available in quesadilla, torta, and burrito form. The process is an assembly line of sorts, where one orders, pays, receives, and then manually add all the condiments. I love their tubs of pickled onions, limes, cucumber slices, and a plethora of excellent salsas. Food wise, the suadero and trompo have been the most consistent. The former has a hint of lard but a crispy and juicy finish. The longaniza, asada, and pollo have been solid, but there have been some moments of dryness where even the salsa couldn't save it. One thing that isn't similar to LA is the price, which has been conveniently removed from the signage as of last year. This is an issue with many streetside taquerias in Houston frankly, which is disappointing for the lack of transparency. Last I recall, each taco was about $3. The other issue is the wait -- which depending on one's order can definitely take a while. I appreciate the need for replenishing and making things to order, but aguas frescas and sometimes tortas are tougher orders to fulfill quickly. This is not a place I'd recommend visiting if one is in a hurry. They operate only on the weekends (Fri-Sun) between 8PM and 1AM, on the Bellaire Blvd (& Gessner) side in front of the Jefferson Dental Clinic. (#2) I do think there is a lot of potential here, and I hope they manage to get some of those issues corrected soon. ___________ (#1) Please, can someone explain to my why taco trucks in Houston call asada, "fajita?" These tacos are very fresh and they basically are cooking the meat in front of you. I think they need more flavor, salt, seasoning, or something. The salsa lacks flavor - green salsa was mild, and red salsas were hot! Pina agua fresca was good, be ready to wait about 30-45 minutes so be ready!

The tacos are well priced at $2 each unless you get the tripas which are a bit more. The pastor is my favorite meat followed by the campechano, suadero, and tripas. The fajita and bistek were just okay to me. I typically get tacos and the pastor quesadilla which comes in a small or large. I love the grilled onions that each order comes with. The green salsa has a good kick and the orange is too spicy for me. Overall, this is a great taco spot. Service is good and everything is nice and clean. I've come here quite a few times and there was only one instance where they got my order wrong which they quickly took care of. I highly recommend trying it out!

Both corn and flour tacos are $2 each, as of July 2025. Tripa tacos are extra, at $3. They also give you grilled onions instead of raw onions for the tacos. Been here a few times and there were inconsistencies with flavor almost every time. Specifically, the fajita, chicharron, and trompo are sometimes not as flavorful as in the past. Nothing bad, but sometimes a letdown when I know how good it can be. If they were consistent, I'd probably give them 5 stars. Also, one time, I noticed the flour tortilla sizes were inconsistent, which makes me think they get them handmade from somewhere. FAJITA: Good flavor, moist, tasted just like the suadero. I didn't like that it's in tiny chopped pieces, even though the menu says they're in strips. SUADERO: Good flavor, moist, tiny chopped pieces, tasted just like the fajita. BISTEK: Very chewy. Too chewy. Accidentally got it again because I got it confused with the fajita, and, that time, it wasn't as chewy, but it was still tough. Definitely not juicy like it says on the menu. Wouldn't get it again. TRIPA: Great flavor, moist, large and slightly crispy pieces! TROMPO: Good and moist! CARNITAS: Decent. Not super moist, but not dry. CHICHARRON: Good! Very soft. CHORIZO: Good! Light spice. Very flavorful! Crumbly. FAJITA TORTA: Light, fluffy bread. They're never very generous with the meat in their tortas, but the fajita tastes great! POLLO TORTA: It was fine. Fajita was better. Got small complimentary CHARRO BEANS because they forgot which meat we asked for in the tortas and we had to wait another 10mins. They were pretty good.

Do NOT sleep on this place! You will regret it!…read more Chavez Mexican Cafe is tucked away in the corner of a shopping center, which gives it that exclusive hidden-gem feel. Everything about this restaurant made me love it even more. We had a small gathering here for a retirement celebration, and from the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and genuinely cared for. The decor beautifully celebrates Mexican culture and creates an atmosphere that feels both homey and elevated. The service was exceptional. We were lucky enough to be served by Melo, who absolutely elevated the experience. He was knowledgeable about the menu, made thoughtful recommendations without being pushy, and accommodated every request we had. What really stood out was the attention to detail, it honestly felt like Michelin-level service. From placing the salt neatly on the napkin, to turning drink handles outward when setting them down, to the way he took orders starting with the retiree, then the elders in the group, and then everyone else (even though that wasn't our seating order). It was incredibly thoughtful and intentional. Those small details did not go unnoticed. Melo was engaging, personable, and attentive the entire time. The food was delicious. The drinks took a little longer to come out from the bar, but they were absolutely worth the wait. And the salsa? Incredible. I genuinely wish I could have it at home every day. I'd put it on everything. I ordered the Skinny Avocados and was slightly nervous because avocado can make or break a dish. Too hard or too soft, and the whole meal suffers. But wow! There was absolutely nothing to worry about. The avocados were perfect. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and while the dipping sauces were great, I barely needed them because the avocado and chicken were already so delicious on their own. I'm so glad we came here and already looking forward to our next visit. This will be my go-to Mexican restaurant going forward.
