The Tacontento street taco cart
Wallace W.

Nice east side street taco venue featuring a full line of authentic tacos, burritos, tortas and sopas. I only wish they had a condiment cooler with jalapeños and salsa to add to the flavors. But the food is fresh and especially tasty with a bottle of Mexican Coke.

The pork burrito. Incredible taste. Fresh ingredients. Absolutely delicious.

Incredible food from such a small mobile restaurant! I've been to this place a few times and tonight's delight was a pork burrito with medium-spiced salsa. Lean ground pork surrounded by tender rice and perfectly cooked whole pinto beans and garnished with diced onions, a little spray of lettuce and cilantro. Amazing flavors and $8.50. Fast, friendly service. You can eat in the parking lot, but taking it home gives the ingredients time to gel and work together. Either way, you'll be glad you tried TaconTento.

Delicious! I ordered two tacos, chicken and asada. My picky-eater ordered and ate three chicken.

Have seen this taco truck everyday for a while and decided to finally try. Have been back a few times! A great and casual taco truck located in a parking lot on 2100s. I've tried the tacos, a burrito, elote and torta. All were delicious!! Would recommend the pastor as your meat. Definitely a great spot for authentic Mexican food.

I've had these tacos at an event and also at their food truck - delicious on both occasions. My favorites are the chicken fajitas and asada. The food truck was kind of slow and there was quite a crowd during weekday lunch but it was worth the wait. There is a number on their website to order ahead and that might be a good idea during the lunch rush.

The tacos here are simple and focus on the meat, which is delicious, and topped with a little bit of chopped onion and cilantro. I tried the carnitas, chicharrón, buche and cabeza. Though I liked them all, the buche and cabeza really stood out to me. It was perfectly crisped and not supremely fatty like a lot of other places tend to be. My friend also reported that the Al pastor was very well marinated, with a bit of heat to it as well. I'll have to try those next time. Oh and they also have elotes!

Yum! Pastor and chicken tacos were delicious with plenty of flavorful toppings. Went for lunch a little unsure they would be there or open, but I was glad I trusted the location and went! Great price and fast service.

Carnitas. Crispy meat.

Overpriced, overrated, overcooked. I used to love this place but they've gone down hill.

So glad to have amazing street tacos on the east side. These tacos are far better than any I've come across along state st.

Santo Taco USED to be the well-priced value spot for authentic Mexican food..Not anymore…read more And I'm just not that into what they call a birria taco around here..Too much meat, not enough cheese, and to be true "quesabirria"-style they need to be griddled much more (like Del Barrio does). Plus their consommé was a too bitter for my liking. Al pastor here is the much better option - greasy, saucy, tender and flavorful chunks of pork. But these are average sized street tacos, not worth the $4.00-4.50 per price tag. I also tried their asada steak fries, one of the worst I've ever had. Fries were swimming in waay too much cheap, nasty Velveeta-style cheese, NO GUACAMOLE, and not nearly enough asada meat.***It's hard to believe, but an order of these has nearly quadrupled in price in 6 short years, up from $4 to one of the higher prices in town at $15!! But do keep in mind, an $8 half order is more than enough for one person. Salsa bar here is decent but lacked on salsa options, no creamy green or orange salsas here. They wouldn't even grill me onions when I asked, he instead pointed me down to the salsa bar, where raw onions were diced, unrinsed and very pungent, gag. They do have daily specials that help some with prices. Sunday wasn't even on their list and ended up being 3x birria tacos for $10. So the counter service was friendly enough but not very accommodating. Ease of communication was only so-so. The dining room is small, order in back by the soda machine. Atmosphere is more modern than your average hole in the wall taqueria, complete with photo op for the Gram. I was super annoyed that they only have tall bar height tables. And the speaker blasting music was too loud according to my kiddos. I usually agree with Guy Fieri on his picks, but I just can't do it with Santo Taco.

After I grab the alcohol, I stopped in for some food. I really dig the place as it has that nice hole in the wall type of feel. The menu was also pretty interesting as you can mix and match a lot of combos. I was pretty hungry so I went with the burrito rude bull. I ordered the food to go and it only took about 5 minutes before it was ready. The cashier also gave me some coupons when she found out it's my first time visiting the place which is a very nice touch. Now the burrito was amazing! It was delicious, huge portioned and the fried cheese on the tortilla just took it to the next level. I'll definitely try to stop by next time I'm in town for the tacos.

Absolutely delicious!…read more I got a BOGO free burrito coupon from their FB feed, so why not? So glad I did! I had the spicy green chili burrito--delicious! Smothered inside and out with their very fine green chili. The tortillas seem homemade, it was fresh and good. My wife had the carne asada burrito. I got a bite of it and the beef is delicious! Such good flavors. I also had the pinto beans and rice, both are very good. The horchata, made with almond milk, was creamy and just the right amount of cinnamon and sweet. They serve flour and corn tortilla chips with three salsas. The chips were excellent. The flour chips are deep fried, really good. The red salsa was the hottest but not bad for heat. The green was good. Now the crema sauce was my favorite, it is really excellent. Nice restaurant, comfortable chairs, nice decor that goes along with their theme. Looks like a comfortable bar. Service was friendly and accommodating. I would like to eat here again and take advantage of the FB coupon for their tacos. Highly recommended! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

They are putting the street in street taco that's for sure. We went right during sunset, and it was actually so gorgeous with the mountains. I got Al pastor tacos and my husband got Al pastor, carne asada, and tripa. The Al pastor was soooo good!!! My husband enjoyed the carne asada and also said the tripa was amazing and super crunchy. They have a cooler with toppings and you get to load up the tacos yourself. They also have a cooler with drinks, but they didn't have any Diet Coke. The guys working were super nice and quick. The people in front of us ordered burritos and they let you load them up before wrapping them. I'd love to come back for a burrito. Overall, it lived up to the hype! Staff wasn't the friendliest but hey it's a hot day with a huge crowd so no big deal. The orders were limited to burrito and taco combos, that come with a canned soda, rice and beans. The taco combo comes with three. Went with the asada and boy were these mediocre. Cheapest cut of chewy meat drenched in oil to help enhance the flavor nestled inside of a store bought tortilla. Tiny tacos with subpar meat filled with the sort of gristle you won't enjoy. For $15 I felt ripped off. The burrito was mostly bright orange rice, not the usual light red rice an abuela makes, filled with half melted cheese, and what appears to be canned beans with a sprinkle of that ghastly meat. Not sure what the hype is about but this place is substandard at best. If you're hungry with no options it's better than nothing but really not worth your money at $5 a taco.
