Review #577 None Elite Squad With So Many places to choose from at the World Famous Plaza Mexico.. I chose Tacontento. Never and I repeat Never Judge a book by its cover .. and trust me, most that go to this I guess ill call it food court area in the 2nd floor above the swap meet don't because especially on weekends these food courts get packed with customers with mouth watering appetites but today I may have made a poor choice and should have trusted my gut. I decided to get the Carne Asada Fries. So let me get to the positive ... -Friendly Staff -Good Fries The Negative... -The Prices -The Quality -The Quantity The Fries Cost over $13. They serve them in the Half Portion To Go Tray instead of the full Portion Styrofoam tray. Though the Fries were good or I imagine them being good with some Ketchup.. The ingredients on the fries were not good. Wheres the Carne Asada? They serve you bits or Crumbs of meat..its definitely not Carne Asada.. I won't even classify it as taco meat. The Beans taste old. The Cilantro tasted like Parsley or maybe it was but it didn't go. The Cheese was melty and good..maybe it was Monterrey Jack..not sure ..It has Sour Cream which needs to be refrigerated ...but overall for $13 its not worth it. Ill give it 2 stars because im being nice but it definitely did not live up to the Yelp Stars. Since it was Friday and 5pm, Parking was a little hard. If you feel something is not right..go up to them and tell them, the staff is young and though they are friendly I dont think they'll take the food back and make it right..but you never know ..I didn't..I felt I had eaten a 1/4 of it and I wouldn't get it my issue fix.

Let me start by saying, in order for me to write a review it has to be good or bad today was bad. I always try to give business to the inside food Cort since the majority of all customers buy outside. 3 months ago I tried the carne desebrada and feel in love with their soft tender shredded beef, it felt like I was eating birria . I know it was cooked for a long time because the flavor infuse with the meat . I was like here take my wallet, not checking the price because it was that good. Today Tacontento let me down so much that I had to check how much I spend. (Carne desebrada)Let's start with the star dish ,carne desebrada. Carne desebrada needed more time to cook the meat was tough and dry .never serve a food that is not ready because the customer will remember.(menudo) the menudo tasted like can menudo, super oily alot, almost no meat, broth tasted ok,(menudo sides) yellow lemon is not for menudo only for Baja tacos or lemonade stick to the green even if it cost me more, no oregano side I had to ask twice for it,the tortilla was not home made and was crunchy and dry like my grandma feet.(tacos de pollo) baked or air fry tacos, the chicken was try and un appetizing. I understand that you trying to please all customers and that's why you have a big menu and I know by having a big menu many items are not freash but like my cousin said ,,no manches 55 dollar for that type of food plus 2 drinks..please learn from your mistakes ask customers for their inputs and grow remember true bad reviews will give you a chance to evolve . The sad part is that I had to go to rubens bakery bakery down the road to buy myself a burrito.

This place was quite a surprise it was a lot better than I thought. They took a little long to serve but the wait was all worth it. The food quality and taste was very good and exactly what I was craving for. I totally recommend this place.

The tacos were incredible, extremely fresh. I had a shrimp taco that was served with a medley of grilled vegetables and it had just enough crunch. It was LOADED with plenty of shrimp. The Korean Asada had a different unique flavor and I would definitely order both tacos again The ambience was great, and everybody working had a smile on their face, and the music was great. Overall, some of the most unique interesting flavors I've had. Thanks Chendo! I'll definitely be back. Wishing this place all good things

Their barbacoa is wonderful, really juicy, and I love that they garnish with pickled red onion. I also tried their Tinga Masala, yes that's chicken tinga cooked in curry! It wowed me, it tasted so good! Their tortillas are hechas a mano, handmade corn tortillas which made it even better. Definitely going back, gonna try their burritos next time! I'm just shocked I overlooked this spot, I live really close and they just opened a coffee stand in the same spot which I also recommend! All the staff are friendly and lively, they were very nice to chat to!

TACOZ is a special business that reflects both cultural pride and dedication in a way that is…read moreincreasingly rare. Demanding as Mother's Day, when most places are overwhelmed, they still managed to deliver an experience that felt intentional and heartfelt. Despite the long wait, it was clear that the demand far exceeded expectations, yet the service never lost its warmth. At one point, she even offered me an agua fresca as a gesture of kindness while I waited. I respectfully declined, understanding that a day like Mother's Day comes with heavy volume and pressure, and that delays are simply part of supporting a small business doing its best under strain. What stood out most was the owner's presence. She carried herself like a mother to everyone there serving each customer as if they were family. She stepped away from her own personal time to make sure other families were fed and cared for. That kind of sacrifice and commitment is not just business; it's cultural preservation in motion. TACOZ brings authentic heritage flavors to the city in a way that feels irreplaceable. The tamales, carnitas, and overall food experience were deeply rooted in tradition and full of flavor that reflects generations of culture. People should understand that moments like this are not about convenience they are about supporting something real. On busy days especially, patience is part of respecting the work being done. Instead of criticism, there should be appreciation for what it takes to keep a small, culture-driven business alive and thriving. In the end, TACOZ delivered more than food. It delivered a connection to heritage, family, and community. That kind of experience is something worth valuing and protecting. Keep Going gurl ! I'll be back and so many of your audience ! One person doesn't bring down a team ! Thank You ! *Your food brought tears to my family knowing they will never be able to go back to Michoacán for several reason but was able to revisit them once more !

Both meats were good, but a little under-seasoned for my personal taste. I also tried the Jamaica agua fresca. It was refreshing, but I'd personally give it about a 2 out of 5. On the other hand, the salsa macha was really good and added a lot of flavor to the meal. The place is a bit small for dining in, especially when it gets busy, but the customer service was great. The staff was friendly and welcoming throughout the visit. I'd definitely come back again because I noticed several other menu items I'd like to try next time.
