I walked to the tranquil downtown Coyoacan area and saw La Casa de los Tacos was open, so porque no? The girls were so nice. And they were open with a few diners inside. It was kind of empty and chill, but the ambiance was festive and exciting due to the music and activities going on in el parque nearby. I was so hungry I wanted to eat everything, so I got the tacos con chapulines (HELLA FIRE) and a side plate of arroz con platanos. I also ordered a beer, but that never came out. Their salsas are hella good. Especially that insane truffle one, who knew! It was SO good. The pan fried platanos were so delicious and the perfect little craving I needed for a sweet treat afterwards. They accept cash and card, and make sure you tip you extranjero/turista!

After visiting the…read moremuseum (if you decide to go, you do need to purchase tickets 1- 2 weeks in advance because they do not sell tickets at the door), we visited this mercado in search of something for lunch and also to browse. We visited this market 2 Tuesdays ago. We ended up deciding to stop by a food vendor (Jugos y Coctetes Alexis) that is known for their fruit juices and fresh foods because I decided that I really wanted a salad. As much as I am truly loving a lot of the local food (and the street tacos are amazing here in Mexico and so is the birria), I was longing for a salad and something nice and fresh. I ended up getting a burrito and a fruit salad (which was much larger than I expected and really a perfect size for 2). My husband got 3 tacos that came with fries and nopales. We also got a mojito which was really nice and refreshing and was perfect (this is non alcoholic and do not think this food vendor serves alcohol). I think it was not made with any added sugar, which is what I really loved. Afterwards, we did browse the market and ended up purchasing some souvenirs to bring back home such as Lucha Libre Masks for our nephews (they do sell kid size masks if you are looking for those and are a little cheaper) and also a few masks for our friends (adults) as well. Purchasing these masks here in Mexico City is significantly cheaper than purchasing at home (They are $20 USD for the cheaper versions on Amazon and $25 USD from the vendors selling at the LA County Fair for those that are from my neck of the woods). I also purchased a few small Día de los Muertos figurines because I really love the way they look and also love that Día de los Muertos celebrates our loved ones who have passed away. We also purchased some vegetables as well to take back to our Airbnb to cook (yes I am one of those people who cook even on vacation). Overall, we had a really great experience at this market and would recommend coming here for a visit.

So come prepared with your own bc their tortillas are also now very thin! You still get two, but they fall apart. Now with all that said, flavors are still amazing. I gave -1 star because their potatoes were like a porridge so watery and not the brut mash they used to be. Surprised they weren't many people eating here on a Friday night 8pm. So I think customers have noticed it. Back in the 90s this place was a revolving door of non stop customers any time of day. I'll come back on a next trip, but only if I'm in the area. We are so glad that we were able to check this joint out. Its a bit unassuming from the outside and they offer some patio seating (with a cover) and then it opens up into a very modern/clean restaurant interior with the bar being the focal point. They also have a 2nd floor which i imagine is opened up during peak/busy times. The service was very rapid and very good english spoken by the entire staff. Loved the interior vibes and it just made me settle right in. The menu was broken down by Apetizers, soups, salads, main plates, etc. They also have a great adult beverage selection and they even have a childrens menu. The mezcal drinks were absolutely brilliant and we kept those flowing throughout the meal. For food, we went with the Huitlacoche Fondue, The tortilla Soup, the duck enmoladas, the chamorro tacos, and the catch of the day and a children's quesidilla as we wanted to try it all :). All the food came out promptly and i'll make this simple... this was our MOST enjoyable sit down meal during our entire CDMX trip. The quality of all the ingredients were fantastic. The fondue was absolutely delicious and a perfect way to enjoy a piece of fungus :). But it doesnt taste weird at all it was fantastic and so addictive.  The soup was absolutely refreshing and i loved the thoughtfulness of how they split up the bowl for two adults as they knew who was sharing. The kid's quesidilla which was a bit of a joke but it turned into a fantastic little plate with high ingredients and the guac that came with it. The chamorro Tacos were absolutely tender and well seasoned and so simple but just made so well. Left quite the impression for an upscale taco. The Duck Enmoldas was ABSOLUTELY fantastic. The two mole (black and green) sauces were absolutely the BEST ive ever had. Perfectly delicious and the duck was really lovely. The catch of the day was also a really well executed seafood item that felt fusion eque. Loved all the flavors and the ingredients again were perfectly flaky and tender.  Honestly this was an absolute delicious experience. Absoultely my favorite sit down meal during this trip. Cant wait to come back when CDMX beomes a consistent destination for long weekend travel

The difficult thing about the tacos de canasta is that they "move" and they are usually not in just "one place", so we were happy to find two guys which sell them every day at the same spot! They are conveniently located two blocks from Frida and Diego's house in Coyoacan and in front of a bodega. We tried their chicharron and bean tacos, and they were delicious!
