I discovered Taco Time a few years ago as a taco truck on Nicholasville rd. They have wonderful tacos but my favorite hands down are their "gringas". Served on a flour tortilla stuffed with seasoned pork, fried cheese, onion cilantro and pineapple. They have had my family be return customers. They opened a restaurant in the Zendale Shopping center but I think it's closed and they are now serving from a taco trailer again. The service is absolutely wonderful. The food is always delicious and it doesn't matter if they are cooking in a restaurant or a taco trailer I 10/10 recommend and will continue to order the gringas. My husband always orders something different and has never been served a bad meal! read more

I remember their food truck on Nicolasville Road, but hadn't been to the brick and mortar spot. I checked in for a takeout lunch bite. I told the very friendly owner that I had been to his food truck, and a full blown conversation started, in Spanish, which I don't get to use very often. There's a lunch buffet, but I do not do buffets. Just not my thing. I ordered two tacos, al Pastor and Campechano, and devoured them at home. Of the two sauces, I preferred the green to the red. This place is tucked in the plaza and is truly a hidden gem. I walked in not really knowing what to expect. As a California native, my standard for authentic Latin American or Mexican food is sky high. Since being in Lexington, I have been disappointed countless times until I stepped foot in this wonderful slice of Heaven. Yolanda, my Angel of a server, was incredible. She started me off with a sampler of their Agua Frescas: jamaica, horchata, guayaba and tamarindo. I decided to go with the delicious tamarindo. As a self proclaimed Elote addict, of course I had to order elote. It did not disappoint. I followed up with a barbacoa plate that was phenomenal and also got a chicken burrito to go. Seriously....I danced with the idea of getting up to hug her because the food was so good (obviously an over exaggeration but I did shed a tear of happiness). Real authentic. Accessible. I had rolled tacos and two street tacos. We're good. Sauce on the table was a verde and a medium red sauce. No guacamole. Kind of a bummer. I loved the Tacos at Taco Time when I visited for the first time a few weeks ago. They even have a lunch buffet but I haven't tried it yet. It is on my list of places to go back to. What time is it? It's TACO TIME !!! What a great place! The owners are super nice and explain everything on the buffet. What? There's a buffet? Why yes there is with several traditional Mexican dishes on it (check out the pics). They also have a menu with tacos, tortas, and quesadillas. I've had several of their tacos and the a milanesa torta and it's all been great! What? You want dessert? Your in the right spot! At the counter there's an ice cream chest full of homemade ice cream pops. I had the super yummy mango con chile, which is sweet, sour, savory, whoa what a dessert. I like Taco Time. The owner & our server were so nice. Last time I came they had only bottled water, not tap water. Now you can get tap water. Thank you!!! We both got tacos. The meat was drier this time unfortunately. I'm hoping it was just a bad day for the kitchen. Another delivery during COVID 19. And as always, I get that things are not normal. Businesses can have an off day. I ordered four tacos: the pastor (pork), chorizo (sausage), gringas (pork, pineapple, melted cheese), and barbacoa (shredded beef). They were delivered smashed together in a greasy mess in one sheet of aluminum foil. Despite being greasy on the outside, the fillings were dry. No flavor in the meat at all. The chicken quesadilla was also dry and the vegetables were not sautéed and were still fairly raw. This place gets good reviews, so either they had an off day or there are some people with decidedly different standards than me. Wouldn't try this one again. read more

Ok...I was dropping off a package at the UPS Store and was heading back to my car, when I noticed this taco joint in the strip I thought, hmmm I like tacos, I'll go take a peek. I looked inside, then head back to the car again. Then, like a shooting gallery duck, turned back again and went in. The people, friendly and inviting. The tacos .... the real deal. I had one with asada, one with chorizo. I'll just go ahead and say it. .. the best tacos I've ever had! They made them exactly how I like. Perfectly cooked meats, onions, cilantro, on a tender corn tortilla.. Oh My! I wasn't even hungry but wanted to try.. and after trying, I could have easily eaten them until I was sick. Please go give these nice people your money and they will feed you something wonderful! read more

This place is great for authentic Mexican street style tacos. I had several of their taco options and they were all great, pastor was my favorite. Although they don't have a salsa bar, they do provide a couple Salas to try at your table. They also have a buffet that I haven't been to, but will check out soon. read more

I've been to this place 3 times since Saturday and today is Thursday ... it's that GOOD! When it comes to Tacos I'm very hard to please and this restaurant has surpassed all my taco hopes and dreams lol. I've had the Asada, Pastor, Chicken and Arabe tacos and they were ALL DELICIOUS! I'm thinking Pastor is my favorite . Good sauces is well and As much as I love Spicy food the red Sauce was a force to reckoned with! Mix the green and red sauces together and don't forget your sour cream. When I find time I'm gonna hit up their buffet too. Very reasonably priced and the staff is extremely nice and hospitable. One of the best places for food in Lexington period. From being the only taco truck with ambiance and then indoor seating for winter to now a brick and mortar spot. Simply amazing. I eat here sometimes once or twice a week depending circumstances. The buffet is an awesome addition to them now having a full time location. Its easily become my new fav for eating in. This was my first meal after moving to the area and have been back many times since. Really enjoy this neighborhood taco place - double corn soft taco shells and some awesome salsa leads to many a take-in dinner. Lots of more traditional options like brain, tongue, and tripe tacos, as well as chicken, al pastor, etc. Juan is unfailingly nice and the tacos are always delicious; don't sleep on the torta either. Wish there were more veggie or seafood options (only veg options are veg tacos or veg torta). Also note it is not open on Tuesdays, a fact I have forgotten on a few sad Tuesdays. read more

Stopped in here on a whim one day a few weeks ago because I was at a business in the same strip mall and it smelled SO good so I couldn't say no! I am a huge street taco lover, so discovering a place in lexington with street tacos at a low price and a variety of meats at great quality, I was hooked. The first time I went, I got the carne asada; amazing. The second time I went I got Chorizo, barbacoa, and pollo street tacos; again absolutely amazing and that barbacoa is TO DIE FOR!!!! The third time I went (keep in mind this was all within two weeks, lol!!) I got the Carne asada, barbacoa, and pollo and I bought my vegetarian friend the cactus taco and once again, they knocked it out of the park! What other restaurant gets it perfect 3 times in a row?!? Not to mention, all of the workers there are so nice, and load you up with green and red sauces! Also each order of tacos comes with limes, cucumber, and radishes. They also have a Huuuugeee menu with all kinds of authentic mexican foods, desserts, and drinks. I cant wait to explore the menu! Will definitely be back here ALOT. We love to try real authentic food from Mexico.So this is fresh and and from different areas from Mexico.The menu is in spanish so we try the Lunch buffet for $11.99.When you walk in it says please be seated so it's nice to pick out your own table.The were enough meat items to choose from.I am a big squash and zucchini eater, it had corn in it and I really enjoyed the spices in it which was mildly spicy.There was a chicken verse that I didn't like at all, but that could be a personal preference.The owner or manager came around several times with a friendly smile which was very genuine and asked if everything was good and if we have any questions.Another part of the buffet was large purple grapes, cantaloupes, and peaches.The rice pudding was terrific.Just a laid back new restaurant upcoming and did very well. The music was sort of a soft music like Cuban bolores.Which was smooth and relaxing.There are several kinds of candy all which are hispanic.There is ice cream cicles that look like home made from several fruits which means a return trip.I say bravo ! read more
