Some people say I'm girlie, others say I'm MACHO Some people know real Mexican food, others just eat NACHO I cross the Rio Grande at will, you just watch RIO BRAVO And when I'm in Columbus, I come straight to TACO NAZO Barbi doesn't like to suck but me I love to SWALLOW Anything for Barbi or for money is my MOTTO I've had some problems down in Houston just like the APOLLO But when I want some Tacos in Columbus, I hit NAZO I've been to South America, the Mid East and MORROCCO I've been labeled deep AF while others think I'm HOLLOW Some people think I'm Gandhi, Lennon, others say I'm PSYCHO But one thing that I know is that I love my TACO NAZO I like to pretend I'm okay but that's just my BRAVADO Sometimes I feel so cold inside like Frances was in FARGO Sometimes I feel so frozen I'm like Barbi in CHICAGO But when I'm in Columbus, f*** me, I get TACO NAZO WHAT Not to be confused with Taxi Nazo, which is actually a form of Uber founded in Guadalajara, perros. This was one of my introductions to real Mexican food, many years ago, and one of the reasons I fell in love with food trucks before you all did (and before hipsters sort of ruined food trucks and jacked up the prices). The prices here are still low, and the quality is still great, but not the life changing food I used to remember from here. Is that because my tastes expanded, adapted, I found many more great Mexican places? Or did they change owners or get less good? Either way I still love eating here. Not to be confused with Taco Nazi, which closed down in Berlin in 1945 and hopefully will never reopen again even though for 4 years or so Trump was trying to get it back in business. So I used to come here for the gorditas and I was completely in love, they were the best I ever had. These days there's Gorditas Santiago in Chicago and I can't remember any other Gordita being that good as Nazo used to be. Nobody could make tacos and gorditas like these guys, and they were just so good, so it was hard to put into words how delicious these products were. Not to be confused with Taco Napster, which illegally took tacos from other places and handed them to you, never making their own. But only Lars "Taco King" Ulrich had an issue with that, greedy f***. Over the years things changed somewhat, and it might even have gotten new owners (not sure), but I'm not sure. As I said - unsure. The menu is still the same, but I don't enjoy the products as much as I used to. I might have given it 4/5 based on my last 2 experiences here, but the first dozen were life changing so I'll give it 5 for the memories and hope that my next visit is back to the stellar level I remember. Not to be confused with "Taco Nasty" which is owned by Janet (Miss Jackson if you're at Taco Nasty). There was a time I would have said this was the best horchata, and some of the best tacos, and the best gordita, that you could get in the whole country. These days I would say it's more like a four-star meal and honestly I had 2-star horchata here rather than the old-days 5/5 horchata, but because of the wonderful memories and the fact that this place helped put Mexican food on the map for me, and I mean the real kind, I will have to give it five stars. Not to be confused with Taco Naptime, which is what happens after you eat any form of real Mexican food. Luckily Los Guachos, which originally was always second best for Mexican in Columbus, but best for Al Pastor Tacos maybe in the country, has maintained its ridiculous standard over the years, so I hope that one of these days when I go back to Taco Nazo it will taste exactly the way I remember and as good as Guachos has continued to be. Now I have to go and "Guach" the election results, but that's "Nazo" bad because Biden is about to be declared the winner. More tacorap now. It's like tacocat, but a rap, and less feline. Perfect. Okay did I say perfect. It's authentic and it's out of a food truck. I have ordered everything on the menu so I will say it's all good. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 star is because if it's a long line you will have to wait 15 to 20 min for your food. However the food is perfect. It doesn't matter what you get just get something. The first time I went I told the lady to just give me what you like the best on the menu. She gave me a steak burrito. Blew my mind. It took me back to my days in California. Okay I know you ask why California and not Mexico? Well, the Mexican food in Mexico sucks. The best Mexican food is in California. Wow! I just had the best barbacoa burrito that I've ever tasted. It was packed with meat, all the trimmings and it was well under ten bucks. They even toasted it a little bit to add some crispiness to the tortilla. With a grilled jalapeno on the side and some sliced cucumber, it made for a perfect, yet inexpensive lunch. I've had tacos from Taco Nazo before as well, and they're delicious too. But if you really want your money's worth, go for one of their burritos. You will NOT be disappointed. In the evening, Nazo's really draws in the crowd, so I've found it's best to call ahead. Many Mexican-Americans come here, which to me is a credit to the authenticity of the food they serve. Sunny skies and Fall temps brought me out for lunch at the little yellow trailer in the big lot off the north side of 161 'tween Maple Canyon & Spring Run drives. Got there just before noon and placed my order for a pair of steak tacos and a pair of chicken tacos, Mexican style plus a glass bottle of Coke. As I waited for my order a steady rotation of cars rolled thru to pick-up orders but, I didn't have to wait too long. I hit the quartet of tacos with a nice green chili sauce and retreated back to my Elemental for some dashboard dining. The steak tacos were wonderfully spiced and really hit the spot. The chicken was not as good in my own tastes since they use a diced instead of shredded chicken for their tacos. While it still had great flavor it was definitely on the dry side. I really enjoyed how they dress their tacos here and the addition of limes, cucumber slices and a grilled jalapeno made it meal worth coming back for. As I sat enjoying the eats and wonderful views of the back of tennis club building with the "no more prisons" graffiti sprayed on it and fire station number 6 I was suddenly reminded that it was Wednesday and Noon in Columbus... 50 Feet away from the weekly storm siren test. Overall for a first try I was impressed, a clean little operation with fresh and tasty eats on the cheap. Ok so a couple of my friends told me about this place and swore by it. So I tried it after my one of my favorite spots were closed for the day due to cleaning. I should point out that I try to keep a open mind when trying new places out and that I'm not trying to hate or be negative here. But at the same time, it is what it is. I was very excited as I waited for the food, the aroma in the air smelled very good. The guy told me your food was done and I walked over to pick it up, then sat in my car and took a couple pictures for Yelp and dug in. I must admit it looked good but I felt the the steak was over cooked and the tacos were really bland. Also the meat had a lot of gristle.The gordita I had was greasy but however I did like the crunchiness of it and it too had a bland taste. Loved everything about our first taste of Columbus! Easy to find using our Garmin, located in the back of a practically abandoned strip mall. Very popular when we were there (Saturday noon). We tried the steak, chicken, chorizo, and buche (which I now know is pork stomach!) tacos (Mexican style, of course!!!), and split a Coke. Steak and stomach were super tender, with just the right amount of onion and cilantro. Their hot and mild sauces were amazing. Chorizo had so much flavor. My first taco truck experience, was looking for something new to try during the lunch hour and the reviews on here pointed me in the right direction. Upon first impression I was a little bit weary of the location, it sits in the middle of a pawn shop parking lot but its really not a big deal. As with all Mexican places I have a hard time deciding because everything sounds delicious, I went with 3 asada (steak) gorditas, they were great...perfect amount of food. You can easily get full on about six dollars or less, make sure you bring cash as no credit cards are accepted. The only downfall is that there isn't really anywhere to sit except in your car. I recommend deciding upon a place to sit down and eat before ordering. As mentioned already you get the choice of ordering the american or mexican version which is nice and the side salsas are great. read more

Oh sweet beautiful taco!! Nazo is sooo good. I wanna say this is my 7th or 8th taco truck I've been to, so I've had a lot to compare. I'm trying to think what to say about Nazo and feeling just illiterate. Stopped here on a cold wintry night for tacos. Its a bit hard to find, nestled between the Walgreens and a pawn shop off one of those weird service roads at Morse and Maple Canyon. We we told to get gorditas, as its a bit of a specialty, and the Campechano - a pork/beef blend. Nazo did not disappoint. Now, I usually don't go in for fried stuff, but those gorditas were out-of-control-amazing. The 'tortilla' (is it a torilla?) is thick, a little bit cake-like, and fried in oil on both sides. The meat and onions and sauce is in the middle, but definitely get a little of the extra salsa to go with as well. The messier it is, the tastier it becomes!! Also got my usual lengua tacos, which were very juicy, very yum. My only complaint is that I didn't order more! At ~$2 a piece, its ok to splurge here. If I had a magical food genie (best kind of genie, btw), then I would wish for automatically refilling Taco Nazo! read more

I was very weary of this place at first. Let me explain - I moved to Columbus a few years ago and had no idea of the popularity and legitimacy of the food truck. Being a college student, I assumed these were "street meat" vendors and were a health department inspection away from doom. After doing my research, I realized that these places are real AND delicious. I decided to give Taco Nazo the honor of having my food truck virginity. Best. Decision. Ever. This little truck is jam packed with authentic Mexican ingredients, flavors, and smells. The options of meat are extensive, and all that I've tried are seasoned to perfection and very tender. I remember my first order like it was yesterday - 3 tacos, Mexican style of course (onion and cilantro, versus the American styled lettuce, tomato, cheese, and sour cream). One chicken. One asada. One carnitas. They were double wrapped in warm little corn tortillas and served with hot and mild sauce, and sliced radish on the side. Since then, I have tried the barbacoa, chorizo, and chicharron. All are delicious. I really enjoy the gorditas - crispy little pocket-like sandwiches filled with meat, beans, tomato, lettuce, cheese, and sour cream. The tortas are also great. I've only tried the regular torta, but a friend of mine expresses delight towards the Torta Cubana frequently. If you're down for trying Taco Nazo, I would strongly suggest calling your order in ahead since they get pretty busy with a wait up to 20 minutes. Also, CASH ONLY! The best tacos in columbus and yes, it is a taco truck! Tucked in parking lot behind walgreens and I'm same parking lot of pawn shop...bright yellow truck. I love the carnitas (pork) mexican styled tacos (pork, cilantro, onions). Green salsa is my favorite and it comes with either cucumbers or radishes and 1 jalapeño. I've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed! If you call ahead, it usually takes between 15-20 minutes. If you order there, it takes less than 10. Due to language barrier, I always recommend checking your order before you leave. They are always very nice and serve with a smile. This made me rethink what Mexican food can taste like. It's so good that I began to question the so-called 'Mexican' food that I have had throughout my life. What was that? It's like the difference between Kool-Aid and wine. It's like someone has been purposefully diluting my Mexican food of its essence all along. I've had authentic Mexican made by authentic Mexicans, everywhere from Ohio to California to the East Coast, but nowhere has it tasted this good. I gave my mother a disclaimer before I let her take a bite, "you'll have hard time truly enjoying Mexican from most places you go after this." It may sound like I'm overselling it, these were really my thoughts as I took my first bite of Taco Nazo's chorizo gordita, and again as I bit into the tacos mexicanos with barbacoa, and again and again until everything was gone. At that point I had no choice but to greedily eye the rest of my party's food. Alas, no one left me any scraps. But how could I blame them? Hell yes, Taco Nazo. This average sized yellow Taco Truck, can be easily missed if you don't keep a good eye out for it, but as everyone else on here has stated, it's in the middle of an abandoned parking lot, that's kind of hidden behind some other businesses. I partially wish they'd just throw down some cement and mortar and call it home, because this place is unbelievably amazing. One of the things, which confused me is the fact they offer an Americanized version of their tacos, and to HELL with that, because the Mexican taco is beyond amazing, and the way that tacos should be eaten. I tried the barbacoa taco, and a pork (can't remember which one) taco, and it was mind blowing. The boy just ordered some steak tacos, and saddened when he took a bite off of mine, because of the flavor difference. Taco Nazo only offers Jarritos and a handful of other drinks, but they just add to the greasy, meaty goodness you're about to devour. Well, I got to admit, what I think I find off putting about a food truck is not the fact it's a food stand--it's the fact that it's a food stand on wheels. I mean, they could wreak havoc on my GI tract and be off to some other spot to dupe more suckers with their potentially tasty albeit tainted wares with ease. Well, here I am 12 hours later, and I am not experiencing any of the tearful sobbing ("Oh, Lord, what have they done to me!") that typically follows a visit to my local Chipotle. The food was better than any I've had at any of the local Mexican restaurants. Even freakier, the best meat topping that I tried, and I had almost all of them, was the lengua--cow tongue. I went with chorizo gorditas and campechano mexican style tacos... Oh. My. Goodness. I'm not one to talk with my mouth full, swear out loud or talk to myself but their food made me do all three... I think my actual words were, "Ogh mfy Gofd, thiff ith tho fthucking gfoofd!" Or something to that effect. It's not in the greatest part of town and the ambience leaves much to be desired. Then again, it's a truck in the middle of a dead store's parking lot next to a pawn shop. I will preface this review by saying that I have had better mexican food; however, ever since moving to Columbus Taco Nazo comes the closest out of any mexican venue to satisfying my cravings. I can't believe how highly rated some of the taco trucks in Columbus are when I personally feel so indifferent about their fare. Anyway.... Taco Nazo is in a weird location and really far away from where I live. My boyfriend and I rarely take the time to drive all the way over there (plus the strip of road it's on is de-pressssing). The food is pretty good. Their corn products (i.e. gordita shell, sopes, tortillas) are tasty and satisfying. My boyfriend really likes the chicharron (pork) tacos. I personally order the egg sopes and one egg gordita. When we pay together the price is around $13.50 for both. Considering the lack of delicious mexican food in Columbus--this is pretty much your best bet. The flavor profiles are far superior to juniors tacos. If only they were closer.... read more

Taco Nazo was my glorious introduction into the world of Columbus Taco Trucks. I have since visited many, and have had stellar experiences at quite a few. But I will keep coming back for Taco Nazo's barbacoa. Oh, that sweet sweet barbacoa. The lg. quesadillas are gigantic and their green and red sauce is to die for. I don't know if they sell it separately but they should. The parking lot of Lev's Pawn Shop is a bit McSketchy, but that's kinda what makes it great. Don't let the fact that this is a "taco truck" detour you from stopping by and tasting some of the absolute best, most authentic tacos Columbus has to offer. After years of cooking and being generally obsessed with mexican cuisine, I am ashamed to admit that Taco Nazo was my first stop at a taco truck. I should know that the best places are oftentimes in the worst areas, and look like dives. Taco Nazo is one of these and I couldn't have been more pleased! Like others have said, it is located in an abandoned strip mall next to a pawn shop. I thought it would be hard to see from 161, but the bright yellow was easy to pick out. The guy who took our order was quite nice. The food was cooked fresh while we waited for about 10 minutes. 6 tacos for $9! Can't beat that! We took the tacos home and scarfed them down. Wow! These tacos were great! However, some meats were clearly frontrunners. The carnitas, pastor, barbacoa, and chorizo were fabulous. Greasy, but fabulous...these are fatty meats. Full of savory, awesome flavor. I was less impressed with the lengua and asada. The consistancy of the lengua was wonderfully tender, but it lacked flavor. The asada was a tad on the dry side. We finally got around to eating at the Taco Nazo truck this past weekend, and I'm glad we did. Tucked into the back of a parking lot of a pawn shop and shady looking little casino type place sits a yellow beacon of glory. Once again, Columbus tacos rival anything I've had in Chicago. And also once again, cheap. $1.50 a piece for these delicious little parcels of goodness. You can get them "American style" with cheese, lettuce, and tomato, but we pretty much always opt for just cilantro and onions which they call "Mexican style". Between the two of us, we sampled the asada, carnitas, and chorizo. Everyone of them was cooked perfectly. They were juicy and tender and not over stuffed. The onions and cilantro were cut small which is always a bonus, plus they were very evenly distributed. The quality of the tortilla surpasses Junior's on Fifth, and for that they get an extra star. Does that mean that this is the perfect taco stand? Maybe, maybe not. But it's definitely the perfect taco for the perfect price. Jeez JB, you really going to eat tongue tacos out of a beat up old truck plugged into a lamp post in the middle of a parking lot that looks like the Sea of Tranquility adjacent to a pawn shop? Yes. What I do know is that you'll eat better here on the hood of your car than you will at any brick and mortar "Mexican" restaurant in town I've tried. Overrated. It is a taco bus, not an atm machine blowing out free cash the way some of these reviews made it out to be. I found more then a few of the different meats i picked to be far to dry despite dripping fatty oil everywhere (Carnita aside which was in fact amazing). I also highly recommend gordita as i regretted not getting more of those and less tacos. It may be one of the better taco bus joints out there, but with Fiesta J's across the street i'm hard pressed to come up with a reason why I should eat in a parking lot instead. This was some awesome food and may end up being my Mexican food must have. -Derek TROY: First I would like to say that if it had been summer or even late spring...or early fall, I would have been able to give a more thorough review since we had to huddle in the front seat of the car. So try the food when it's comfortable eating outside, but go back any time you need a quick authentic Mexican fix! DEREK: Yes Troy, it is OK to go to a taco truck during the dead middle of winter. Quit crying you big baby! Well, it was cold outside but the food at this "hole in the wall" taco truck was more than enough to warm the heart. TROY: So I had 2 tacos Mexicanos (onion and cilantro), 1 with chorizo (spicy ground pork) and 1 with barbacoa (spicy shredded beef) and about passed out from how good they were. I had 2 tacos Americanos (tomato and lettuce), 1 shredded pork (carnitas) and 1 steak (asada) and I think the pork was okay and the steak was pretty good. TROY: The tacos are not the "crunchy yellow corn shell" that you find at Taco Bell, instead they're the double wrapped soft small corn tortillas that is authentic to true Mexican cuisine. The hot sauce/salsa was a good compliment to the tacos but I was still desiring more heat...more spice. Deke was sniffling and sweating, so for the typical customer I'm sure it will suffice. DEREK: I tried several items from the menu because the food was just that good. I had a pequeno (small) queasily, half chicken and half steak, and about melted in the seat - probably because Troy had the heat turned on so high. The chicken side was fantastic, and surprisingly enough I liked the steak side even better. Cheese and fresh ingredients were just excellent and gooey. The hot sauce was not melt your mouth hot but had plenty of flavor. No Troy, I don't want the roof of my mouth on fire nor do I want it so spicy it hurts me. TROY: OK, so I'm a big baby for complaining about it being 22 degrees, but you can go on and on about the "melt my face off" hot sauce I like and you're not the sissy?! TROY: I added a chorizo (cause it's my favorite) gordita to the order and WOW the gorditas are a huge hit with me. It's the deep fried pocket of crunch that brightens the soul. The chorizo was a little overcooked but oh well, this isn't a 5 star restaurant it's a great food truck. DEREK: I enjoyed the small (pequeno) queasily so much I opted to try a big (grande) burrito. The burrito was packed full of goodness but was missing something. You may have to ask for sour cream and extra cheese on this item. DEREK: Troy pointed out that there were 2 menus after ordering this, Mexican on right and American on left. Had I been ordering from the English menu from jump it would have helped, apparently my Spanish is not so much. TROY: Esto ayudaría si usted no fuera tal dumbass...haha! DEREK: The food just keeps getting better so we decided on the final test. Barbacoa meat on a gordita. Jackpot! The crunch of the gordita along with the barbacoa meat was Cabo Wabo! TROY: I agree that the barbacoa is awesome, but not in a gordita for me cause it soggy's up the shell a little. I would recommend ordering a meat that is not sitting in it's own juices to add to the gordita so you keep that sharp crisp snap to the shell. But the flavor combination was still amazing besides. And as a side note, Deke doesn't mean "Cabo Wabo Tequila by Sammy Hagar", he's just trying to learn to speak some Spanish. DEREK: Surprise of the visit was that everything was exceptional. No desserts. TROY: I'll be back for the gorditas and the Mexicanos tacos with different meat combinations until I find the Holy Grail of Mexican Food Truck menu item. First off, NOT open til 10p - we got there at 9:30p and they were driving away. We thought it might be because it was a slow Thursday night, but nope - went the next day and they're closing at 9p now. Might just be for the winter, but be aware. We've gone to a lot of taco trucks in Columbus. This one wasn't my favorite but it's really close to us and absolutely solid! You will not be disappointed. We got some tacos and gorditas. Tacos - excellent. My favorite meat was barbacoa which was fantastic. The campechano was also really good, I was expecting a little better due to all the rave reviews, but still a good pick. The gorditas were pretty decent. You can get them much better at other trucks, they were a little overdone in the crunchiness. Overall, worth the trip! read more

Me and the boys (my sons, 13 y.o. and a 16 y.o.) checked out Taco Nazo last week. First, it does take some getting used to. They are located in a parking lot of a defunct business, and right next to a pawn shop. Once you're past that, the goodness begins. The menu is very clear, and lists the detailed ingredients of each item. I've probably eaten my last "American" taco, and will now stick with the original "Mexican" version. The meat is incredible (we had steak asada and chicken.) All of us rated it as some of the best Mexican food we've ever had. Next time, we'll order it carry-out and take it home. Eating out of the back of our van wasn't that comfortable! If you've never tried out a Taco Truck before...try this one first. read more

Have not tried too many trucks in town, but as good as this is we can't bring ourselves to keep looking for something better. Working thru the menu but very partial to the tacos and quesadillas (love the cheese), all the meats are good, but the chicken is outstanding in the quesadilla. We have come to crave it. I love this truck..... They not only have the best tasting tacos, but the portions are huge and they give all the extras. I love Mexican style over American and they are actually better than tacos I've had on the streets of Mexico. The real go to for me is the gordita's- again Mexican style. OMG- yum! They can be a bit greasy, but the crunchy goodness makes up for it and they are fried, so you should expect a little grease- if not, get a taco (lol!). mmmmmmm! I've tried other trucks and none offer the variety, quality or even as good of service. And I must say, these are vastly superior to restaurant tacos. Come on food trucks...I love them! read more

I must confess. I lost my Taco Truck virginity at Taco Nazo. I've giving it 5 stars because i just love this sort of thing, and the food was better than most "mexican" joints in Columbus. The food was great. Main problem is I wanted to try like 6 things. I went for a large burrito with chorizo. It was a nice size for lunch. The salsa (hot) had a nice flavor and the roasted jalapeno on the side had great flavor and heat. The location was easy to find. They had a nice little tent/canopy up to keep you out of the heat. Remember, this is a truck. No seating, no air conditioning, no chips while you wait. The food is worth it, though. read more
