We stop at this Taco Mayo every time we're driving back to DFW from OKC - it's right off the highway and easy to get in & out without much hassle or delay. We typically eat at the restaurant since I'm the driver and the driver can't properly enjoy tacos while driving! The staff is SUPER friendly - not the fastest but they take the time to greet you, actually engage in conversation and help with your order...a welcome change from "WHADDYA WANT....NEXT!" The food is very fresh, made to order and delicious. There's fresh pico and 3 hot sauces you can add yourself. Also they have one of those Coca-Cola Freestyle Machines where you can choose from a ton of different drinks and flavors - awesome! We're fans of Taco Mayo and of this place in particular...it's a winner! read more

Terrible customer service. The lobby was unlocked, so I walked inside, only to have an employee immediately yell at me that the lobby was closed. What made it even more frustrating was that he had just seen me get out of my truck with a horse trailer, which obviously could not go through the drive-thru. There was no reason to speak to a customer that way. If the lobby was closed, a simple "Sorry, we're closed inside" would have been enough. The rude attitude was completely unnecessary. After this experience, I can understand why this location is usually empty. Unfortunately, it seems like the customer service is just as bad as the experience I had today. Food is never HOT , and i swear sometimes the beans are not fully cooked/hard pieces. They take forever to get it out the window, could be a soft taco and a plain burrito and it would take 5-7 minutes...no body in line. When I went threw the drive thru I had to tell the lady twice that I wanted 3 soft tacos with no lettuce, potato locos, a nacho supreme, medium Dr. Pepper, and a large coke. When I got home I looked in my bag and I had 2 soft tacos, no potato locos, a nacho supreme, and my two drinks. read more

We didn't actually eat here. I walked in while my husband was getting out of the car & there was one employee who was wearing a medical mask sitting at a table. It wasn't busy so I understand why there wasn't many employees but the one you haven't working, with food, should be in healthy condition. read more

We went to Taco Mayo during the 5:00 rush hour, which means that there were approximately 4 cars in the drive-by area. Big deal. When we went inside, the person that I assume was a manager (long dark hair, tattoos) was on the front line with a young woman that was clearly in training. Two other people were attending the drive-through customers. The manager was barking out orders to the other people as though they were her personal slaves or something. I heard no polite respect for her co-workers, no common courtesy....just barking. There was no "Welcome to Taco Mayo". There was no polite, "May I take your order?" There was on polite, "I'll be with you in a moment..." In fact, there was no polite ANYTHING!!! This was a rude manager if that's what she called herself, and the other employees acted like whipped animals. They performed their jobs without enthusiasm, as though they genuinely hated being there. They were clearly not given a voice in anything. If I had been one of them, I would have walked out on the spot. There is NO excuse for the way that the manager was treating them, acting like they were stupid. The only stupidity that I observed was coming from HER. Now, when I managed a restaurant, I would prepare for the oncoming rush hour (which wasn't really a rush in Purcell, Oklahoma) by making certain that we were fully stocked on things we'd need. It always pays off to think ahead. Well, this clearly wasn't the case at Taco Mayo. They had run out of meat. They had run out of this. They had run out of that. The salsa bar was practically empty, and virtually EVERY table in the place was dirty. It's a sad day when customers have to clean their own tables..but we did. I don't eat meat, so I ordered 3 meatless crispy tacos with sour cream. The manager person tossed some lettuce into the crispy shells and started to put sour cream on them. I remarked that I would also like beans since that would have been the only protein in the tacos and because it's sort of a given that a taco isn't just lettuce and sour cream. She barked at me for not telling her ahead of time, and instead of simply adding beans to the tacos she had partially-prepared, she grabbed them and dramatically threw them into the garbage. POW! POW! POW! What a drama queen. She made absolutely sure that her customers knew we were SO much trouble. It was quite a show! Then, she got mad about someone else's order and did the same thing with two other tacos. Horrible waste of food, if you ask me....but you didn't, so I'll simply say that it was rude. Her behavior was rude. Meanwhile, there was panic at the drive-through window as there was no meat to put on anything and the young woman in training had not been taught to prepare it. Shouldn't a manager be able to anticipate the need of her customers ahead of time? Why wait until you run out of something before you begin to bark at the employees rudely because of your own lack of insight? She knew 5:00 was approaching. Wasn't it HER job to make sure everything was ready? She acted like she could take no responsibility at all, and as though it was the other workers' faults when they were simply trying to follow her orders. THEN she started acting like her incompetence was the customers' fault....not just us, but the other customers that followed us. It was not the fault of her co-workers and it was very unprofessional for her to have been barking at them as she was. They didn't look bad nor incompetent at all...but SHE sure did! She spoke to that poor woman in training as though she was some kind of unwanted dog or something. My husband ordered their potatoes, which were overcooked and just SOAKED in grease. They were really gross. I asked whether the beans had lard in them and was told that the manager didn't think so. When someone has a dietary restriction not knowing the answer to a question of that nature really doesn't cut it. Either they have lard in them or they don't. We ordered queso, which was salty and virtually inedible. It didn't even remotely resemble any queso that I'd ever tried before. It was disgusting. The manager got all huffy when I asked her to check on the ingredients like I didn't have a right to ask before I put something in my body. Not cool. The lettuce was strong and stale tasting. The crispy taco shells were greasy and cold. And did I mention that the salsa bar was almost empty, so we really didn't get our money's worth, because we couldn't put on the toppings that we liked? Dirty tables. Grouchy manager. Crappy food. Yeah...I think I'll pass next time. This place needs to clean up its act. The only reason I even gave it the ONE star is because we had been there before and a really nice guy (with an earring) had demonstrated great management skills and had been friendly and accommodating. It's about what you expect from a fast food Mexican place, the bonus is that they make the food right there in front of you. You can see everything they're doing. And I've always found the staff to be pretty courteous. Hey if you're looking for gourmet Mexican food there's plenty other places in this town that you could get that, however if you're looking for a quick Mexican fix on the go I would certainly recommend this over the other options in this town.
