I've only been at this location during lunch, but the service is atrocious. If a guest enters your restaurant between 11am and 1pm during Monday through Friday, you should at least assume it is a lunch hour. I don't have time to wait for you to get my drink AND I don't have time to wait for my check when my co-workers and I are done with our food. Granted, the food is on par with the other Taco Macs in Atlanta. In fact, this one is aesthetically pleasing the way it is set up. However, I don't care what your restaurant looks like or how good the food is if no one comes to ask me what I want. If someone were to ask me to go to lunch at Taco Mac, I'd demand that we go to the one over at Perimeter instead of the Prado. read more

So I've been dreading writing this review, but after the last 4 experiences I've had myself, and hearing my husband's complaints, it's about time. Taco Mac was always my go-to place when I hung out with the guys to watch a game or even just grabbing some food before a hawks game, and unfortunately it seems that I will need to find a new option. Apparently Taco Mac has been bought out by another company now (that was what the waiter told me when I asked what happened to them), which seems to be running this chain into a sports-themed Chile's (no, that is not a compliment). I've been here 4 times in the past 5 months and each experience has gotten worse. First, they changed the menu and got rid of my favorite item (the Hollywood). If you even try to order it (which is just a chicken sandwich with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, bacon & honey mustard) they will either tell you that they're not allowed to place that order (yes I've been told that) or that they don't even have the ingredients to make it any more (not true - all of the ingredients are ingredients in other items still on the menu). OK, you want to change the menu, fine - I'll let you have that, but here's where it has gotten really bad. One, they put silverware in plastic cups (not wrapped, just dumped in) on the tables. The last time I ate here, we didn't have any on our table - I kid you not - our waitress walked over to a table waiting to be cleaned off and grabbed the cup of silverware and put it on our table. We were completely grossed out - that is definitely not sanitary and I'm pretty sure that would not pass a health inspection. We asked more silverware, which she brought another cup (this time not from a table we could see) so we just had to check each fork & knife to make sure they were not used. Two, it's just the little things, such as no more cloth napkins - now they use paper, no more coasters, the brand of ketchup on the tables, etc. Also the staff has changed a lot - they used to be nice and actually checked up on you - the last time I was here I went for 45 minutes before ever receiving my drink - and forget her ever asking if I wanted a second (which I did since it took another hour to get our food). I wish my experiences were just flukes, but my husband has complained all football season about how downhill this place is going - and he said they even tried other locations which were no better. My husband and his friends have been going to the same location to watch Sunday football for 5 years and they have finally had enough and are now trying to find a new option. I'm not sure why Taco Mac sold to a new owner, but the new owners need to get their act together and stop being so cheap. read more

We went to this Taco Mac for my fiancee's 21st birthday, and it was the only bad part of the night. We literally could not wait to leave. First of all, it was SO crowded. Granted, they cannot help this, and we were quickly seated once we settled to sit outside, but it was pretty unpleasant. This was only the beginning, however, to a very disappointing visit. When the server finally came to our table, we informed her that it was my fiancee's 21st birthday. She told him he could get a free shot or a piece of cake. Awesome. The problem came when she asked for his ID, which was perfectly valid except that it expired the next day. She asked for the IDs of every one who would be drinking and took them to her manager, not to return for about 20+ minutes, during which time, we did not receive any of the food or drinks we ordered. I understand their policy requires that they do not accept expired licenses, but it seemed ridiculous that she (1) took ALL the licenses of the people at our table and (2) could not seem to return in a timely manner. Later, her manager came by, and he was friendly enough and explained the situation and asked for several forms of ID (student IDs, insurance cards, etc.) that could verify their identities, which was a bit insulting, and when the waitress finally brought us our drinks and food, she was still incredibly rude, slow, and unapologetic for the inconvenience. Don't go here unless you want to be sincerely frustrated and disappointed. This experience almost ruined an otherwise totally pleasant evening. I should also add, in their defense, that the food was delicious (especially the salsa!), but the service made it a very unsatisfying experience. Seriously, go to Chili's, TGI Friday's, or one of the other "All-American" chains. These places are not one of a kind. Maybe Taco Mac should remember that. read more

Really. Tonight, we headed out to the 'Mac with friends from out of town who'd flown in today from MN. They'd mentioned they wanted a good place for beers, and I knew they'd been open the past couple of days and would suit the bill well. Great beer selection, great wings and other things. So, we were excited to take them there. The roads were totally cleared all the way from Smyrna, as a matter of fact, we'd been out on them all day, and after the snow and ice from the day before, all the snow and ice had completely melted. Roads were fine. Came in, and were seated after a very reasonable time. We waited about 10 minutes for someone to come by and take our order. We ordered some chips, salsa and queso and some beers. Those came about 10 minutes later. And the server took our food order. I ordered a single order of hot wings, and my wife ordered a BBQ chicken flatbread. Our friends ordered boneless wings and chicken tenders. And then we waited. And after eating chips and salsa, with nothing to drink (because the server didn't come back to check), he finally came and brought us waters out. The food came out about 30 minutes from ordering it. The place was busy, no more busy than any other time we've been there, as a matter of fact, we usually have to wait longer than we waited tonight. So, how was the food? Well, my wings were good, they seemed fresh. My friend's chicken fingers were fresh, and he thought they were fine. But my wife's flatbread was cold and my friend's boneless wings were cold. And because the server didn't come back to check after the food had been brought out, they just sat. When he finally did come around to check, they asked that the food be replaced. After about 15 minutes, the came back, surprised that the food had not been brought back, at which point they asked that the food just be taken off, since we were all done, and had been there for so long already. He said ok, then about 5 minutes later brought the food out, explaining the food would be on the house. The guy was just not there the whole time. We had no silverware (we had to ask another server for some), no napkins and nothing to drink. They'd already decided they were just ready to go, and since we were heading out of town in the morning, taking it to go just wasn't a good option, either. So, they gals declined and just asked for our checks. About 5 minutes later the manager (Adam) came out again with the food, and the gals stated again they were just ready to go. Here's where I get frustrated. He explained to me that they were short-staffed and were doing the best they could. He said the guy was covering a bunch of people. Now I can understand if weather conditions were bad, roads were bad and people just didn't show up, but all the roads everywhere were fine. It's not my fault they were short-staffed, it's the manager's fault, and does that mean I should expect bad service because of it? Because if that's the case, they should have laid out those expectations when we entered, and I'd have just went somewhere else. Our expectation was that we'd get great food, great service and a great beer selection. And that's based on not hearing otherwise. If they had someone that didn't show, and they couldn't get any other servers to come in, the manager should have stepped in to help, and the truth is the first time I saw him was when he came to our table when we were ready to leave. He didn't come when the food was first sent back. I didn't see him wandering around checking on tables (which I've grown accustomed to, as service is usually a non-issue at Taco Mac locations), the first I saw of him was when were ready to leave. His nonchalant attitude turned off my friends, too, who were surprised at his attitude, given the service they'd received (or not received) all night. We've had generally great experiences at our visits to Taco Mac, and love that they're a great local fixture, but I won't be back to this location (the closest to me) for a while. The manager's attitude, the server's inability to do his job well (I mean you sell hot wings, then you don't return to refill guest's glasses, offer another beer or at least water?) mean there are management problems that need to be resolved at this location. read more

Stopped in with family on Mother's Day. Major disappointment. There are too many options out there to give your money to this failed location. The place wasn't crowded and my buffalo chicken sandwich took forever and both the sandwich and especially the fries were room temp. Told what I assumed was the manager and he rushed to fix it with 2 orders of fries and a sandwich which didn't look anything like the first and had 3 giant tomato slice with both ranch and blue cheese dressing. I ordered only BC. He never came back around to check on us and I had to track our server down for the bill. There were less than 10 tables occupied. I did reach out to the organization via the contact info on the receipt. On which they asked if they could contact me. I replied sure. I used to live in this place and was a long time patron (I've been coming here since the location was a Jocks n Jill's). We moved away (we're a military family) and were so excited to come back and continue on our Brewmaster University Education! I'm very very disappointed. The FRED closed, and lately this Taco Mac location just seems to mess everything up. My last 3 visits to this location over several months have all had similar accounts to my example below. Unfortunately 3 strikes and you're out. Especially in the restaurant-smorgasbord that is Atlanta...where I literally have hundreds of options. We were seated by the host and NOBODY acknowledged us sitting at the table for 10+ minutes (yes...I'm an obstacle illusion), which is when we had to flag anyone we could find down (this time we asked for the manager)....it was Sunday night, they weren't busy. The manager took our orders for drinks (2 beers, 1 iced tea). Our waitress showed up and bought 1 beer, then the manager brought 2 beers (1 was ours the other wasn't, and she took that away), then the waitress came back with another beer (not what we ordered either...but she left it....which made my husband happy) and they forgot my iced tea. We ordered food, my salad came but we had no utensils. I had to wait for 5 minutes (after asking the host and our waitress) for someone to find me a fork. I was so hungry I started eating with my fingers.....don't judge......you'd do the same. When our food arrived they messed up one of our orders (we didn't want sour cream...We saw our server write it down...so this was a kitchen mistake). My buffalo chicken strips had 3 spots of buffalo sauce on them...and were cold and rubbery. I hope they take strides to get better. I miss my old Taco Mac. This is not my first experience with this taco Mac but it will definitely be the last. The service is by far the worst no one greets you when you come in, if you're waiting for a to go order the staff walks by you and doesn't once ask if they can assist you. You can see into the kitchen where staff is playing with their hair while preparing ppls food while others have their hand in there shirt coming out of the kitchen ready to service guest how unsanitary. I've been in ATL for 11 years and am still trying to understand the popularity of Taco Mac. Their food is mediocre, at best. I've yet to find anything on their menu that really stands out. I will say that I've been to about 5 of their locations and the Prado TM tends to have the best food (but that's not saying much). Be prepared for a loud environment, no matter which TM you visit - actually seems louder than your typical sports bar. The claim to fame of the chain is their Brewniversity program, which is nothing more than a gimmick to keep people coming back to spend $$, trying new beers and earning credits towards "degrees." There are other (quieter) venues with MUCH better food where the beer selection is equally as good, such as The Porter in L5P. Will I keep going back to TM? Yes. I have to support my friends in their Brewniversity pursuits. :\ read more

Only thing that bugged me is that I spent upwards of 3 dollars for an "oven baked Mac and cheese" side that was LITERALLY kraft brand. I've only seen Kraft served as kids meals at Friendlys and places similar, and never as an adult side that wasn't even labeled as being kraft. Honestly confused me more than anything else. This is just like any other Taco Mac with the food and beer choices, however, the tap tables are pretty cool. If you are looking to sample 3 different beers with a group of 4-5 people then it's great! You pay per ounce and the taps are right at the table! Prices aren't too bad the only downside is if you get seated at a table with three beers you don't like or don't want. But then you can always order from the server. This place has plenty of seating: high tops, low tops, bar, booths, inside, outside. As far as Taco Mac's go this is one of the best. But if you don't like Taco Mac then even the tap tables aren't going to make you like this location. read more

This management team here couldn't care less. They are clearly punching a clock and that is it. We are about to move within a couple miles of this place, and will go out of our way to NEVER return. But my most favorite dish has been taken off the menu & I'm disappointed...the chipotle turkey sandwich. I'm not a drinker, but their vast selections of beer on tap really brings in the crowd. Horrible, horrible !!! This is the only way I can describe their food and service. We came in for lunch. Were a bit squeezed on time. Order our food along with drink order and told the server we were in a rush. She took 30 minutes to get us just iced tea and water. Then she comes with no straws. Food comes after another 30 minutes. Chicken sandwich tasted horrible. Dry chicken breast. Then to top it off the server did not come with check even after 20 minutes of our lunch being done. Very disappointed in what should be a consistently good family restaurant. My kids dined in and brought takeout home for us. It was very obvious they don't care about takeout orders b/c they don't get immediate feedback. We requested toasted buns. They were not. We ordered tater tots and fries, both extra crispy(well done). We got 2 orders of fries under cooked and mushy. With other minor problems, the entire meal was just bad. In this day of delivery meals it's just bad biz to blowoff quality to customers you won't see face to face. With all the options for a neighborhood dinner Taco Mac is now off the list. (Math: family of 5, all over 21. We go out about 1x/week. Average check with gratuity $150 = $7800. If you loose just 10 families in a metro area of +6 million, then you are down $78,000 per year in revenue. All of the errors, if fixed, add $0 cost to your overhead. read more

We came here last Saturday night to watch the football games. We gave our name to the hostess and she sent us a text that our table was ready shortly after. We sat in the bar are and there are plenty of TV screens around. We asked our waiter to put on our game to the screen closest to us and t was great. We all ordered wings with various sauces etc and all came out the way we wanted. Everyone was happy with the food and drinks. They have a great beer selection to choose from. I usually love Taco Mac, but this location was the exception. First off, it was SO LOUD. We were seated right under a blaring speaker. We waited for at least 5 minutes for a server to greet us, then another 5 minutes for drinks. There were a lot of servers just standing around but we had to flag someone down to get anything. Food wise, everything was good other than my hubby's street tacos, which were just one step above dog food. Will avoid this location in the future. read more

We come here all the time and at this point it's gone down hill very fast. Two times in a row our service has been terrible. It takes forever to get our beers and the food has come out wrong. We love their beer menu and it's close to home - that's why we keep coming back. Past two times we have ordered nachos - both times it was missing the queso. How can you have nachos without cheese?!
