If you're in a rush don't go here. You'll be waiting almost an hour for your food. Drive thru system is outdated and SLOW.

The absolute BEST Mexican fast food in town! Their breakfast burritos are fresh, not reheated, and the best I have tasted any where!

I went there yesterday and this guy named Walter was really rude to me. I was asking for a burrito and he said we don't do that here.

Well, well, well, what a day it was. Been 6 years since we last visited. We figured we would give…read moreit another try and see if it has improved and boy they did not disappoint. What's different being seated was they use to have bottled hot sauces on the table which are no longer there, they don't even have them to ask for, but they do have a hotter salsa for a $2 charge. Yes it was tasty and yes it was hot but not sure I will pay $2 for it again I will just bring my bottle of hot sauce I usually carry in the car and put it in their regular salsa. Only needs more heat for us flavor was good it has cilantro but doesn't overwhelm it. The complimentary chips were warm and really thin, wonderful. We ordered enchilada platters, I ordered three cheese and was so pleasantly surprised I didn't have to cut red sauce and add queso it was already on it.. plus.. plus.. I substituted the beans for another rice and they did... the cheese enchiladas were so good and filled with a cheese blend so flavorful, the rice was presented so pretty on the plate not in the usual pile, and so very, very good, finally I can say that the rice would be like their grandma would prepare at home with love. Best plates of Mexican food we have had anywhere even from down south with the exception of Pedro's in Duluth. Hubby ordered all beef enchiladas his had queso on top as well, he said it was wonderful full of ground beef seasoned perfectly with onions and bell peppers, he had beans and rice, beans were very good, I wish I would have gotten them now too, they were not just watery goop on the plate they where actual refried chunky beans with flavor. Very friendly waiter quick to be seated, received our drinks took orders and within 15 minutes had our food, we even got drink refills without asking. I hope this is an example of how it is every day because we are excited to go back.

This one was started by a woman who is actually from Mexico, and many of the employees are her family members. Yes, it's Americanized, but it is much closer to the real thing. Campaneros is a legend in the town of Dorset. If you don't know anything about Dorset, it is…read moreconsidered the restaurant capital of MN (maybe the world) because they have more restaurants per capita than many other towns. In fact, calling it even a town is a stretch. It's basically a group of restaurants and shops (and a church) that line a single road in the heart of MN cabin country. But boy, is this place hopping during cabin season. And Campaneros is one of its anchors. Campaneros is the perfect example of a quintessential MN Mexican joint. And what I mean by that is Mexican food that has been catered to softer palates and Midwest perspective. Nothing wrong with that, its just like calling Taco Bell a Mexican restaurant, it kind of is and it kind of isn't. The food is pretty good, you will find all the Midwest Texmex staples here - fajitas, seafood chimis, smothered burritos, etc. All loaded with melted cheese and refried beans and rice. Portions are belly- busting huge. You will probably have a whole extra meal to take home if you partake in the free chips and salsa. Also, margs are large and pretty strong. It's exactly what you crave when on vacation, and cabin time is a time to kick back and indulge. When I said legend, I wasn't kidding. This place has been in Dorset for a long time, ever since I can remember. It recently burned down but they built it back newer and better with recipes and heart still intact. That means the place offers a much better seating arrangement and a large, beautiful patio area. Even with more seating, expect to wait for a table as this place is busy almost all the time. Good place that has stood the test of time (and a fire and long MN winters). Next time you are in town, do yourself a favor and sample some Dorset history. Ice cream can be found next door for dessert.

There is not a lot of spice or seasoning involved and their hottest sauce is not quite as hot as Whataburger ketchup. The people here love it and it is always busy. They have a great showing at Taste of Dorset even though most of the offerings are right off the Sysco truck and into the fryer. Give it a try if you're near Dorset but bring your own hot sauce.
