Consistent Excellent Service & Quality After visiting 6 times during the past 12 months I can honestly state that Taco Giro deserves 5 stars. Why? Because each time we have gone there we were immediately greeted and seated, food and drinks were consistently very good or excellent and compared to other restaurants in Cochise County, has maintained that consistency and excellent customer service over time. My first review was written after they first opened a few years ago. I gave them only 3 stars then and offered suggestions for improvement. Since then, they have met or exceeded my expectations. My companion is from Sonora, Mx. and loves to prepare recipes passed down from her grandmother from the late 1800's. Thus, she really knows good Mexican food made with fresh ingredients, thus, is VERY picky. Since we live in a desert and not close to the Gulf of Mexico, fresh seafood is nearly impossible to obtain. I'm not generally a fan of flash frozen fish since I'm spoiled, having eaten fresh caught oysters and seafood from the gulf. However, they have found a distributor who provides flash frozen seafood and it tastes pretty good. Most frozen seafood, in my opinion is not tasty, but this is a good substitute for those of us who can't go to Mariscos in AP (where they have fresh seafood delivered daily). Try the QuesaBirria tacos or carne asada which are delicious, (even my companion agrees!) Tableside prepared guacamole (per your liking) with warm chips plus salsa is also excellent and fresh. Happy Hour Margaritas are also excellent at a great price! I just hope they continue to sustain the excellence they have strived for so we can continue to dine at least in one good restaurant in SV. Ambiance is good too, with natural light, comfortable booths and tables/chairs (they keep the windows clean and no flies trying to steal your meal!) I came in during the week for lunch special. I ordered a plate that came with rice, beans, chicken taco and a cheese enchilada. The chips and salsa were good! Very fresh! I really enjoyed the beans they had great flavor and were a great texture. The rice was ok. As for the taco, it's your average taco. Nothing crazy but good! The cheese enchilada was not that great. It felt bland and the sauce was less than ideal. I left not eating the enchiladas or rice. Considering it's AZ Mexican food and I'm from So Cal I went in with no expectations. I would be willing to try this place again and see if other things on the menu are better! However I DO think the price is great for how much food you get! I've been here 3x and it is one of my most favorite restaurants in town; ironically, the other 2 in contention I believe have the same owner. The marinade for the fajitas is very uniquely good and the fried tilapia was, as the kids say, bussin. I don't even like fish but I had to try it since I've never eaten a full fish like this and, frankly, I'd order this despite my fish aversion. The refried beans are excellent, as is the Spanish rice. Chips are made in house and are often served warm. Salsa is pretty good, as is the guacamole. Love it. read more

Having lunch with my sister, she's here visiting from California and wanted to try Taco Gio on 2097 East Fry Blvd. They greeted us right away and were seated right away. I ordered the number one lunch special taco and enchilada. My sister ordered Chile verde with rice and beans. The food was excellent. Loving the new look, the new menu look and the plates. My family and I were in town visiting my son at Fort Huachuca, and he raved about this amazing place - and boy, was he right! The menu is HUGE, seriously so many choices we actually ate there twice! We sampled everything from fluffy omelets to yummy street tacos and delicious burritos. I'm obsessed with their carnitas - pork dishes are hard to find where we live, so it was a real treat! Everything was piping hot and the portions were so generous, we were stuffed each time. They have a lovely outdoor patio, perfect for soaking up the sun (being Texans, the heat didn't faze us!). They even have some powerful fans and shade screens if you need a break from the sun - nice touch! The staff were all super friendly and attentive. Oh, and did I mention they have a full bar? Perfect! We'll definitely be making this a regular stop whenever we're in town. You absolutely HAVE to check it out! read more

Absolutely horrendous Chicken Fajitas. Was served with no silverware (a tiny mistake), but also with no plate. There was one grease-filled tortilla that tasted like rubber. there were raw vegetables in with the cooked ones, and the chicken was extremely overcooked. No accompanying items to add in to the single tortilla except refried beans and rice, which to be honest seemed to be a side dish to another meal. sure, it was "a bucket of food" in size, but a bucket of garbage is no better than a small portion of garbage. I ate a few fork fulls, as the tortilla was inedible, but just stopped and left the plate filled rest of it for the bin, or perhaps someone's dog. i have no idea why this place was so packed. read more

Taco Giro is one of my favorite restaurants in Sierra Vista. Service is always friendly, food is hot, and delicious. Tonight's server was Leslie. She was friendly and very helpful with the menu when I was looking for something specific. We eat breakfast here probably 3-4 times a month on the weekends and dinner once or twice a month. read more

Being from Los Angeles and Mexican, I naturally have higher standards when it comes to Mexican food. Plus, having a great cook for a mom has made me a bit stricter with my reviews. That said, Taco Giro is a solid spot! The menudo was solid the meat was incredibly tender, but the broth maybe lacked a little flavor and needed a bit of salt. It came with tortillas or bread, cilantro, and onion, but I did notice it was missing chile de árbol and oregano, which would've added more depth. I also ordered a michelada, which was good overall, but I wasn't a fan of the olives in it not really my thing. All in all, the food was good, and the service was great. A few small tweaks would make it even better, but I'll definitely be back! read more

I wanted to write a review about the variety of items on the menu, ranging from a plethora of many different colorful cocktails and margaritas, daily deals, breakfast items, seafood, tacos, burritos and all other kinds of Mexican cuisine you could be craving! I ordered the Tropical Totstada. One of the features items, it had tuna, mango, scallops and shrimp covered and resting on some especially flavorful tamarindo sauce. It was delicious but another major point I wanted to rave about was the portions. Incredible portions for a great price. My colleague ordered rolled tacos and even those were much bigger than your standard rolled tacos. Staff was great and accommodating for our large group. Some of the best Mexican food I've had. The place is clean. The waitresses are nice and are pretty good about refilling your drinks and checking on you but don't bug you. You are given huge portions that will last you about 1-2 more meals after for a great value. The food is fresh, good quality, and tastes like genuine Mexican cuisine. Our first experience was good with a tasty taco platter and mini chimi plate. The ambiance has been upgraded as have the prices which range from about $16 to $70. Service was good on the first trip. They seat you with chips and a really good salsa and slightly spicy bean dip. Our second trip was very disappointing today. The taco chicken salad (read tostada) and burrito had bland grilled chicken. Even El Pollo Loco does better. The hostess started to talk to us, then ignored us when a kitchen employee interrupted us to go on and on in Spanish about how the door to the kitchen was slamming in the wind. When the hostess finally finished that conversation, she started to take us to a table when someone else distracted her to point out that a very tall man (the owner? ) was hitting his head on the ceiling decor. That man proceeded to stop her (yet again) and get in a discussion of some sort. We were over the interruptions so took ourselves to a table. After it became apparent that she was going to continue her conversation, I got back up to get the menus from her, at which point she gave them to our soon-to-be waiter who refused to hand a menu to me but took it down to the table. This is but one of a gazillion Mexican places around......but I will confidently state it has the best carne asada I have EVER had! This is my standard-bearer for most any cantina....and I'm judgy about it. Here, it is VERY special! The shrimp were a spur of the moment, darned good decision! They were clearly VERY fresh, and were char grilled to absolute juicy perfection. Based on the shrimp alone, it is a 10 already. The asada....was just MORE. It's thicker, more seasoned, more smoky.....just more delicious. I would order literally any component of this dish as a standalone. In combination, they are revelatory. Rice: flavorful and light. Beans: creamy, hearty, and smoooooth. Veggies were crisp, but delightfully grilled. Not kidding here. There are a lot of distractions around. Had dinner here with family, and it was pretty crowded for dinner, but we had a great seat out on the patio. Our waitress Katrlynn was very attentive and came over immediately to take our drink orders. The drinks came fast, but it took forever for our food to arrive. I ordered the chicken fajita. It had a really good teriyaki type flavor with plenty of veggies. Everyone in our group really enjoyed their meals. The price was very reasonable also. Solid Mexican food. I really liked all the seafood choices. Ultimately I decided on the Molcajetes Mixto, with chicken, steak and shrimp. The steak was thin, overcooked. Chicken and shrimp were good. Not a lot of spice -- toned down for American palates I suppose. The bartender was friendly. The Cadillac Margarita was not too my liking -- not much lime, too sweet and too much other fruit added in. The house margarita was better-- they must use a mix -- not real limes.
