First time to try this place and was very happy with our experienced. The place is not very busy and we had dine in service. Staff are friendly and serving time was really fast. Heard rave reviews about this new Mexican joint in Maple Ridge and stopped by for lunch on a Saturday to check out their offerings. It's a cute space with lots of instagrammable corners e.g. lots of greenery, the light up sign on the wall, etc. and I can see it doing well in the neighbourhood. In addition to salads, tacos, nachos, burritos, quesadillas, tostadas and bowls, Taco Fan also has a wide array of imported Mexican products and hot sauces/salsas. Corn husk tamales, cotija cheese, and different kinds of canned beans are available so you can achieve that authentic Mexican taste at home. I'd come back for the cotija alone so I can make some authentic elotes in the summertime. Price points are extremely fair considering the amount and quality of food you get - I'd say the price point is similar to Chipotle, give or take a dollar or two. My boyfriend decided on three tacos, which were probably a substantial snack for him, and I had a burrito bowl, which was probably a meal and a half for me. He got the fish, steak, and chicken tacos and we agreed that the steak and fish were the best. I really enjoyed the light batter on the fish, which paired nicely with the fresh flavours of the salsa and accompanying vegetables. When I initially picked up my burrito bowl, I almost dropped it - THAT'S how heavy it was. I got one of the steak bowls which came with Mexican street corn and it was absolutely delicious. You get a really healthy serving of rice, beans, and vegetables, plus they load up on the meat. My only critique would be that the grilled vegetables could be a little more charred/well-done, which would pair better with the other bowl ingredients, as opposed to them being more on the raw side. Last but not least, I wish they had two additions to the menu: homemade al pastor, which is my favourite taco meat/filling, but I do understand it's super labour intensive, and homemade horchata/agua fresca. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Jarritos, but there's nothing quite like a homemade Mexican drink to cut out the spiciness of your food. All in all, Taco Fan is a really promising new spot and I will definitely be back to try out more of the menu. read more

Nov 11 I placed an online order. They called me within 10 mins to state that they hadn't received a shipment in and couldn't process my order. Ok, no problem. Unfortunately I paid for the order via credit card online and the employee stated management would have to refund me the next day. Again, no problem. I heard nothing, so a week later I follow up by phoning the restaurant. The employee takes my message to once again pass to the manager. The same scenario has gone on 10+ times since the day I placed the order. I have also contacted them via Facebook, their webpage messenger, emailed them and by phoning. I am most upset by the fact that management/owner has not even bothered to contact me in regards to this. I really enjoyed their food prior to this incident. read more

Big portions, and pretty tasty. Thought that food was priced reasonably. Really liked the nachos, very filling, tasty and saucy. Had the burrito, it was okay. Tasted decent but had the steak. The meat was kinda chewy which made me not like it as much. But aside from that it was okay. read more

The burritos are rather delicious - and they are quite big. I had the vegetarian option. Love the quinoa. Yum! But the price... I don't know. $55 for three of us to take out a burrito with a drink. It seems like a lot to me. When you enter the $20 per person territory for take out, you have a lot of options. You could skip the drink and take out a plate of food from just about anyplace in Maple Ridge for that price - so why wouldn't you? If you take out a lot, this could be a once every month or so kind of place, but they couldn't draw me in to become a regular without offering some specials. read more

This is our FAVORITE spot. There's great options for vegetarians too. We are here a couple times a week because the food is just that good and the staff there is a ray of sunshine. You get what you pay for here - dinner for two very hungry people with a tip is $40 but the portions are great and you can leave feeling satisfied from high quality ingredients and not gross from greasy low quality food. Disorganized. Quesada quality and service is so much better. However, I love supporting small businesses. We're local and try to support as much as we can. However, this place has gone downhill. We used to come about 3 + times a month before the service and food started changing. We were in the area and didn't want to drive far so decided to give this place another try. I got a 20$ build your bowl item. When you walk in you HAVE to go on the right side of the plants. They will STOP you and tell you to go on the right side even though you end up in the exact same area. They will NOT let you on the glass side to pick your toppings which is two feet away and built for that So you need to look at a piece of paper however, this time they said they lost it. So the cashier lists off items and you say yes or no. Problem is some things you want more of and will pay extra, some less. They also don't list all the toppings they actually have there. I got a lettuce bowl with toppings. Then they tell you to go stand to the corner after ordering (the place that your not allowed to stand prior which is in my photo!). Already the situation was poor and regretted going we were going to leave but decided to just wait. Service was slow because now after taking the order the person making it is reading off a receipt on what to add. Got home had no lettuce in my salad bowl just some cabbage (actually it was more like soup). I called and spoke to the manager Kelsey about my experience. Her reply was "oooookay...". I asked is that really her response? She said well... you can come back and we can re make it. I told her I'm not driving 30 min and I'm not calling for a remake or a refund it was feedback. Could have just said - so sorry I'll take that feedback in. But didn't care at all. They should either be dine in only or go back to what they had before which was take out. read more

Get the fish tacos with chilli oil. Tasty and fresh. Light. Yumlicious. Other meats were ok - nothing special but lots of great topping choices and sauces and the staff are A+. read more

This place is very nice decorated, great atmosphere. The food was okay, not real Mexican food. A very whitewashed version at best, even Chipotle is better.
