Always a line passing by a couple of times here, so we finally got to try it this time! We got the special burrito with carne asada and the carne asada fries to share. The burrito itself was pretty nice, which it was soft and tender. Although, it didn't really feel like a packed burrito. It felt like it was mostly rice and the sauce they had. The overall flavors were pretty nice tho. The carne asada fries were pretty good too. Very generous with the cheese, but wish they added some pico de gallo with it to make it taste more refreshing. The crinkle fries in it are pretty thicc. There's limited seating outside and cash only. There's another mexican joint in the area, El Pilon, that I actually may like better. Not sure if I had high expectations for this place since I always see a line when we pass by, but I think it's just average. Easy parking in the lot and the place had some outdoor seating available. You order at the window and pay at the other one when your order is ready. They do close fairly early compared to some other places that'll open later Biggest pro is the staff is very efficient, friendly, and thorough. You place your order, then they prepare it iin front of you, they may ask for your customization options for your dishes. They had the usual protein options, al pastor, carne asada, carnitas, lengua, etc. We got carnitas tacos, al pastor tacos, asada quesadilla, and carne asada fries. Portions are good for what you are paying, maybe slightly on the higher end. Tacos $3.50 each, asada fries $17 and quesadilla $12. Maybe it was just this batch, but they proteins didn't have much flavor and if it did, like the asada, it was just salty. The al pastor and the carnitas really didn't have any flavor. The asada fries had a lot of fries, but it felt like the ratio of fries to everything else was off. Not sure I would go back with all the other options in the area read more

I was running errands across town and it was almost dinner time. I spotted this taco joint that someone mentioned was pretty good. They have the "Special" taco that includes sour cream and Guacamole for $3.75. I decided to try one Carne Asada and a plain bean and cheese burrito $6.00 since the beans are made fresh, not canned. I paid and decided to stay and eat in their patio. Lucky for me I didn't take it to go. After a few minutes, I heard someone beside me saying, "excuse me, did you order a bean and cheese burrito." I didn't look up and decided to ignore him because I thought they were going to ask me for money!!! They walked around the partition and approached my table and asked me again. I looked up and it was Jose, the Cashier. He gave me $7 back because he mistakenly thought I ordered a Carne Asada burrito for $13. Now, that's an honest employee!! As for the food, it is authentic, tasty and worth a repeat visit. It's a small menu of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, hamburgers, and French fries. Choose your protein (Carnitas, Carne Asada, Al Pastor, or Lengua). The tacos are soft with two corn tortillas. The pack on the ingredients, you'll need a fork because one taco overflows and is more like two tacos. Based on Yelp reviews, I had to try Taco Del Rio which happens to be in the same shopping center as the second ever Yelp Elite event that I attended (S/O to Birrieria La Suprema) What caught my eye was how the prepared their tacos and the fact that the offer an all meat burrito. And, to my surprise, they have Chili Verde as well as Asada, Carnitas, Cabeza and Al Pastor. Definitely get the Special versions of the tacos and burritos for 50 cents more. CASH ONLY, EASY PARKING I've been visiting this spot since 2017 and they always manage to stay consistent and hit that spot with their tacos each time. Taco del Rio's staff are all incredibly friendly and welcoming and will always get you right each visit. My favorite thing to order are their soft tacos (I will note, prices have inflated since 2017 but that is to be expected) and they offer a variety of different meats set aside on a sign right by their menu. Our go to is the asada, and they season and cook the meet very well. Probably not typical but I also love their fries - generic but they actually slap so I would really suggest ordering a small for 4 bucks as a quick side! This spot differentiates themselves due to a lack of other toppings on their tacos besides cabbage, onion, and cheese, but I will say that is why they're special: I think it always comes together well and this spot is definitely worth a visit if you're ever in the area read more

Make sure to bring cash and not like me, having to use the ATM machine at the liquor store that didn't work :( Sadly the day we went, they didn't have al pastor.. The tacos were fresh and delicious, The tortillas themselves were a little dry but still malleable so that when I bite the taco itself doesn't come apart easily. The meat was nice and tender with the sauces they put in just added an extra kick to the whole thing! I got the special taco with asada. In fairness the sauce is what saved it, the asada flavor was good but not something that makes you fo wow! the service was quick and to the point, as expected of a taco shack style spot, they really pump out the order as quickly as they can since the line was fairly long, but despite that, I didn't feel like I was bothering them or feeling like they were being pushed to an extreme work load with my order of 4 tacos and burrito, so I gotta appreciate that they atleast don't make you feel like a hindrance to their daily life. The atmosphere as a whole is as you would expect from a taco shack, everyone is either waiting in line to order their food or waiting for their food and people seem either indifferent or hungry. The carne asada fries come with meat, guac, sour cream, cheese, and a drizzle of green salsa. It's good, but I do crave an element of freshness. I still like it better than the tacos though. Don't judge a book by its cover- the food here is delicious. While they may not have a physical seating area, there are seats so if you plan on eating here, I suggest bringing some wipes to clean the table and seats down. I ended up here after a sort of "crash out" a few days ago. Without judging myself, in coping the best way I could, I ordered a carne asada burrito and it tasted just as it had when I used to visit Taco Del Rio, with my family, circa 1997 to 1999. You see, for those years, my family and I would eat here, as a sort of tradition, after going to Saturday afternoon mass, at the church up the street. Just as then, I stood in the same places in line--and began to feel similar feelings that arose when I used to pray that my parents would 'stay together' in the weird and tumultuous times they created. After my parents divorced in those years, came back together, and again divorced in 1999, my dad and I would sometimes come here, after middle and high school classes, on days I didn't have extracurriculars, trying to beat their then-unusually early Monday to Thursday closing time of 4 PM. This, too, was a tradition until I left for college in 2004. It's hard to believe--an exemplification to the fleeting of time--but my visit to Taco Del Rio last Saturday was my first one since 2004. Just as then, there was a line. Just as then, they accept cash as their only form of payment. And just as over 25 years ago, I stood in the same places in line, but this time reflecting on how life sometimes rhymes--in this case, quite abstractly--full circle. So, while there is a sort of nostalgically tragic feeling in getting food from here, I nonetheless finished the carne asada burrito feeling ok again. Just as I remembered it. read more

I saw the guy bored just stirring the beans. The burrito and drink, almost $20. What a shame after all these years to start ripping customers off. Charge a lot and cut the quality by 1/2, double dipping. I will never come back again, went to In and Out for my kids, got 2 double double cheeseburgers , 2 fries, 1 Shake and 1 large drink for just a little over $22.
