It had been a while since we went in any Taco del Mar. They give ya large helpings, but the price is high for fast-food, and it's not that good, so we just stopped dropping in. But we went downtown Bremerton to eat at one of our favorite spots and it was closed for renovations! Big disappointment. A burning hot muggy day, we stepped inside what looked like a good alternative, and it was not air conditioned; it was hot as hell, so we promised to come back on a cooler day. Didn't want to search endlessly so we stepped inside Taco del Mar, telling ourselves it can't be as the so-so food we remembered. Well, it was worse. It was downright unpalatable. On mine I paid extra for a big slathering of their enchilada sauce and hoowee was that ever a mistake. It would've been a mediocre burrito otherwise, but with that disgusting sauce it was a totally miserable meal. My sweety's burrito had nothing totally gross on it at least, but she wasn't thrilled either. As bonus, we listened to muzak and I was wondering if any of the workers have ever gone mad from hearing that all day long. Then unexpectedly a radio DJ's recorded voice said, "You are listening to Taco del Mar Radio!" It was like if we were on an elevator and the elevator muzak stopped for a second to tell us, "You are listening to Highrise Elevator Radio," and we'd look startled realizing, "This elevator has it's own radio station!" I'm sure we'll end up going again to this or another Taco del Mar, but it'll have to wait until we kind of forget how poor it was the last time, a few years I'd guess. And since we get to design our own burrito then and there, I'm sure we could find the right combination that wouldn't be horrible, but frankly, NOTHING should be horrible, it shouldn't be that easy to end up with something this bad. read more

The first mistake I made was ordering nachos. I watched homie behind the counter (which granted he's just following the cooking instructions) put my nachos in the microwave. It cost me over 10$ for a drink, which was flat, and a side. After I ate the first layer of garbage on top of my nachos, I realized all that was left was stale chips. Horrible, absolutely horrible. I seem to forget this every two years, and make the mistake of hoping for change as I walk through the door once again. I thought I'd give them another chance today, and -- as always-- was sorely disappointed. The topper came when the trainee dumped at least a few ounces of water from the meat pot onto my burrito, asked the manager for help... and then the manager proceeded to roll the drippy mess up. As she was rolling the foil onto the burrito, juice was SPLASHING OUT! What was the fix? She just wrapped it up in another piece of foil!?! Please don't eat here. My husband and I both got sick after eating the tacos here (with pork carnitas). The employee -- there only seemed to be one -- spent most of the time in the back and didn't seem very friendly. I asked for my tortillas on the side (limiting carbs) and never got the tortillas even though he warned them up? Not sure why the bad customer service but the food poisoning makes it not worth it. Kind of boring (but I'm use to real Mexican food). Just boring: the salsa is not spicy, the meat & beans are bland, the tortillas are lightly heated & store-bought quality. Good customer service. Tacos del Mar is A-OK. I used to eat here all the time when I lived here because there weren't any of my favorite C-named Mexican assembly line type of fast food on this side of Puget Sound. I think the food is fine, not great. My main complaint is there is so much liquid in the ingredients and when I'm eating the food (burrito or tacos), it ends up being very messy with lots of liquid draining out the back. I don't want dry meat, but at the same time, they should be able to figure out a way to strain the meat and not have so much liquid. Service at this location is friendly and professional. Cleanliness was fine. Prices are pretty cheap. All around OK and I would eat here again - just expecting it to be messy so I will eat in the store with a tray under my chin while I eat. read more

She mouthed that they were closed. I pointed at the hours sign. Cheap. Fast. Satisfying. If you work nearby and need a quick place to grab lunch, this place works. On Tuesday I got the Two Taco Combo special (they have daily specials) so for $6.72 I got a drink, rice & beans, and two tacos. I chose carnitas & fish. Rice: okay, beans: okay, carnitas: watery, fish: small fried piece of fish that was okay. The food is nothing special. Inside is clean enough with plenty of room to sit and eat. It basically feels like a cheap/streamlined version of Chipotle. Not authentic, not a shining example of Tex-Mex either. The Bottom-Line: It's food. You can get a lot of food fast and for cheap. It's works if you're already nearby and need a fast lunch, but don't go out of your way to eat here. There's got to be better if you're craving Mexican. read more

I normally try to find a smaller local business to support before resorting to giant corporate chains. however, Bremerton isn't the most "vegan" friendly of towns....so i have become a reoccurring customer. last time i went in here i had a huge order for the tattoo shop i work in....8 orders to fill. My boyfriend I go here every so often and it's usually the same guy who does a great job. This time we were welcomed by a new face, we went in about 7:45 (an hour before close) I ordered one fish taco and a cheese Quesadilla. The gentleman was rushing through our order first of all. My fish taco was HARD I mean I took one bite and that was it. My cheese quesadilla didn't have any of the additional things I asked and paid for on it. And the guacamole was BROWN. So- Taco Del Mar is always usually ok. Good for a quick meal.. never spectacular but always edible. Today- this location.. definitely not good. Husband ordered the shrimp burrito bowl. They microwaved the shrimp right in front of us, then put dried rice in the tiny bowl.. I stopped watching knowing my husband was going to eat it. The kid had a heavy accent and was so quiet we had to have him repeat everything. My burrito was way too soggy. The rice was crunchy- the pork was warm at best and over salted and way too much liquid. The guac seemed watered down as did the sour cream. I couldn't finish the burrito, I was getting disgusted. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. It was literally the nastiest place I've eaten in a long time. There were other families inside, so we stopped for lunch before our ferry ride. The food was freezing cold, the tortillas were sticky (not sure how that's even possible), and the meat was nearly unidentifiable. The bathroom was filthy and had clearly not been cleaned in ages. Taco Del Mar in east Bremerton gave me food poisoning on Tuesday, from the pork tacos. I stopped bye to tell them and the owners lack of give a shit completely blew me away. He denied it even possible saying that food poisoning take at least 9 hours to set, which is absolutely wrong. It can take as little as one hour. The #1 thing that irritates me about any food establishment is when they insist on giving you a crappy lidless cup for water even when you order your food to go, and apparently it WOULD kill them to make an exception.
