Fresh salsa bar was well stocked (just the onions looked a little off). Apparently, they only update their menu every four months, so don't count on ordering something that shows on the digital menu slides. Service was a bit slow even though they were not very busy. The fish taco was so savory. The fish is nice and crispy. The sauce mixed with lettuce and tomato pair well with this simple selection. A nice perk is the sauce bar. Mild, spicy, and my favorite Pico de Gallo. The churros were nice and warm with just the right amount of filling. They have a nice balance of cinnamon and sugar. Everything from ordering to service to food quality was terrible! Order was wrong and all our food was cold and had very little flavor.

Over the past few months, the quality of the food as well as the customer service of this TC location has steadily declined. On this visit, I ordered a crispy chicken taco plate. However, I received chicken in soft flour tortillas. Additionally, when placing my order, the employee could not understand I did not want a combo, just the plate. I gave in and agreed to ordering a drink which to my surprise was the best part of the meal. It wasn't anything special; it was regular fountain lemonade. I was surprised that I had to pull around to the front of the building and have my food brought to me because they were behind in the drive thru. How is that convenient for a customer? We choose to use drive-thru services because of convenience and speed. This visit was the exact opposite. The icing on the cake was when I got home. All of my food was ice cold! Almost 30 minutes later we had to ask about it and he got real snippy and said oh there's the manager (who was carrying our food) Red head got real snippy as we left in front of other customers and the manager. First time here while visiting Friends who live in Boerne. Since it was late at Night we ordered for delivery through Favor and got the Nachos and Fajita Quesadilla. The food was nice and warm when we received it and the portion sizes were huge to say the least. We barely put a dent in the Nachos but they were loaded with toppings. I went back to this establishment with some friends last night for the first time in many years. In the past, I was not happy with my food or service. Now, I'm happy to report that everything has changed for the better. I had quesadillas with chicken fajita and they were pretty darn tasty. The drink machines were mixed properly as well. What made my our experience wonderful though was the female manager on duty. She was beyond wonderful. She checked on us personally more than once and even went above and beyond her duty just to help us out. We were treated so wonderfully that she made a permanent customer last night. Some of the best service I've had in town. got a jr cabana bowl w beef and 2 bean and cheese tacos and a margarita for only 13 bucks was a absolute bargain the gentleman at the register was very nice and polite. So much for the original Mexican patio cafe. Very disappointed with this, I had originally wanted to go to another taco cabana but picked this one because it was closer to me. WRONG CHOICE. Went through the drive through ordered and everything was fine, we got our order and noticed that it had sour cream, we asked for none. Told a lady of the mistake and she was annoyed but told us she'd fix it and she would bring it to us in the mobile order area. After 10 minutes we decided to go inside and ask about the nachos, the guy who took our order didn't seem to know what we were talking about and I'm sure we wouldn't have received those nachos unless we went in. I have now been in this taco cabana drive through and parking lot AND indoor area for 40 minutes. They are lucky I will go to ends of earth for bean and cheese. She never brought us the nachos, she's dead to me. There is only one guy putting in the work king Tyler. I think you have to set different standards for your fast food chains. I don't expect anything spectacular, maybe something simple, edible, and fast. We were on our way out of town and wanted to get a few tacos-to-go. Ordered with Uber Eats for takeout. It looked like they may have had a few eating in tables. The ordering station has a clear glass divider between cashier and customer. The workers all looked really busy working to put orders together. I don't doubt they were working hard and fast, but then it took them a bit of time for anyone to acknowledge me or the now two other customers that have walked in to wait to order. They seemed unorganized since they didn't know if the box of tacos on the station was for me or not, but ultimately I got what I paid for and it was warm and tasty. I didn't see any issues with cleanliness, everyone wore masks and gloves when handling food, which is much appreciated. read more

Okay, I pretty much flamed this place a few weeks back for having its dining area closed FOREVER. We had given up on them. We stopped by yesterday and the nice young man taking drive thru orders said "It's open!". Yay! We parked and went in. Sure enough, you could order food at the counter. And dine on their patio. Amazing. I was feeling lucky when I got off at midnight because taco cabana is open until one. I ordered 4 carne guisada tacos, and the young man at the window charged me for one. Easily fixed. Got my stuff at the drive through and drove home. As I was walking from my car to my front door I was a little confused because I couldn't feel any heat from the bag. It was 40 degrees outside. After I got inside I discovered what the problem was. My tacos were cold. COLD. I live 3 minutes from this place and my tacos were cold. Cold and sloppily put together. I have been a Taco Cabana fan for a very long time. I am not a fan any more. All I wanted was a simple taco. Taco is in the company's name. It's not shrimp cabana, or steak cabana, of pancake cabana - its taco cabana. I just wanted a taco. They need to change this store's name to - Wish We Knew How To Make A Taco Cabana. There is a Whataburger just across the bridge, and a Burger King and Wendy's two lights down the road. Go there. If you have a taco cabana craving - drive to San Antonio. It's been awhile since I've had Taco Cabana and I probably should have just not gone. When we arrived it was pretty empty. We placed our order at 5:47 a sampler plate, a large order of queso and beef nachos and 3 drinks. There was a man that ordered before us and that was it. We sat down and waited, and waited, and waited. More people did come in, but should not have affected our order time. We received our order at 6:20. Food that is already prepared and nachos that goes into a microwave to melt the cheese. My husband did not even finish his sampler plate, which was pathetic - only reasonable portion on the plate was the pile of shredded lettuce. My daughter's chips and queso - the queso was thick and not very appetizing and chips were "chewy" aka stale. She did not finish her order either. My nachos, literally consisted of about 10 chips (less than the chips my daughter got with her queso) a smidge of beans about 1T ground beef and maybe an ounce of melted shredded cheese. And, yes, some of the chips were stale. Really sad. Really bad. Really not worth the approx $30. Granted, I know TC is not like it used to be 20 years ago, but this was really the worst I've ever experienced. I can honestly say, I will never eat at a Taco Cabana again. I used to love their food, but now they have gotten rid of everything that made their food good. There are no Super or Supreme nachos, you want shredded cheese on your nachos instead of queso/liquid cheese you have to ask for it. There aren't any great pollo plates anymore. Just seems like Sysco food and the slowest service I ever ever experienced at a Mexican "fast food" place. As I sat their and read their signage on the wall about serving up great Mexican flavors since 1978, all I could think was, if they keep serving up this mess it's not going to be around much longer. Stopped in here for a quick snack. Not a huge menu, but we still had a tough time deciding. Hubby ordered the chicken burrito, it was huge. He said it had good flavor. I ordered the personal cheese quesadilla. It came with sour cream, guacomole and lettuce. Guacomole was very good, fresh. We both loved the condiment bar. They offered some great salsas, onion, cilantro, limes. Prices were very reasonable. A good stop. read more

This location HAS to be THE WORST location. I eat at Taco Cabana quite a bit at this location and the location on Broadway in San Antonio. It is absolutely astounding how different the service is, how the food is made, the wait times, and how they can screw up SO MANY ORDERS. Literally 50% of the time something is wrong. Ordered a black bean taco tonight and it was a spoon full of black beans inside a tortilla. The hell am I supposed to do with this? Let me break it down down for you Boerne Taco Cabana. Black beans, RICE, LETTUCE, TOMATOES. You literally forgot 75% of my ingredients!!! The other day the brisket was hard and dry, and the queso in my taco was all on one side. These are just a couple of examples. Let's see, oh the WAIT. Yup it's terrible. Example - waited in the drive through the other morning for 2 bacon egg and cheese tacos. TWO. Not only did we wait 15 minutes behind 1 CAR (that eventually just drove off) we waited another 5 at the window. When I asked what is taking so long I received a "Huh, what do you mean?" Seriously?!?! Management needs to be changed or better yet get some employees who actually care about what they are doing. We were heading west to visit family and stopped here for dinner. I have eaten at a Taco Cabana before, and while not great, the food has always been ok. I decided to try something"new" on their menu, beef street tacos. Oh and the beans. Just no. Now, these may be good for folks who live in San Antonio, but if you from the Rio Grande Valley, don't even try. You will be sadly disappointed. They look ok, but the flavors we expect just ate not there. On the brighter side, bottled beer is not a bad price. And the salsa bar is great. The place was clean and the staff friendly. Typical Taco Cabana fare but to me the main difference is speed of service. Even on a busy Saturday morning got my order in about 3 minutes. MUCH shorter than my usual Taco Cabana experience. They are obviously appropriately staffed for the busy times and it is appreciated. Order accurate as always and always appreciate the military discount. read more
