In the small town of Wellington, CO, there stand five fast food chains. In no hierarchical order (simply alphabetical) they are Burger King, McDonald's, Subway, Taco Bell, and Taco John's. I'm a firm believer in the adage "Good things take time." However, our culture demands efficiency. Fast food has become the mealtime solution for those with busy schedules. Unfortunately, it's hurriedly prepared, the ingredients are typically poor in quality, and meat remains the main course. When you compound those factors, the result isn't exactly health-positive. Fast food is incredibly useful when roadtripping, lost, or truly desperate, but not something that should be consumed on the regular. It should be a last resort to other, finer options. Personally, I find the concept of eating a carcass rather repulsive. And don't get me wrong, I still do it on the rare.¹ Though, when I succumb to my biological cravings, I'd much prefer Dad's hunted game over Taco Bell's cow #62,804,638,092. I can only imagine that the meat tossed out T.Bell's drive-thru window is on the lower-end of the quality spectrum. It's also likely hard to find customer service that lands any higher on its respective scale. The service at this particular location is a far cry from praise-worthy, not quite insufferable, but less than average. I thought I should mention my recent experience... As you can deduce from the preceding text, I don't quite like meat. I'm not a fur-coat-tagging vegan, so when options are limited, I'm not opposed to eating food that may be prepared around the flesh of yesterday's adorable, living and breathing calf (in reality though, it was likely a cat, or even a human).² I just tend to order items sans meat. Taco Bell has a Value Menu, under which you will find 'Loaded Beef Nachos.' When describing food, doesn't the adjective 'loaded' sound gross to anyone else? I feel my ass get bigger just reading the word. Anyways, these Loaded Barf Nachos come with (as you can imagine) seasoned³ barf, beans, guacamole, red sauce, and reduced-fat sour cream. I don't want my nachos loaded. I want a simple nacho comprised of chips and fake cheese. So I request that their loaded nachos be reduced to just that. Chips and fake cheese. They used to have a menu item like that. I'm pretty sure it was called Chips and [Fake] Cheese. Well they got rid of it apparently. So yesterday, I went through the drive-thru at this location. I inquired about their nacho options and got the explanation that I just gave you above. So I ordered 2 of their Loaded Barf Nachos and asked that they hold the seasoned barf, the beans, the guac, the red sauce and the reduced-fat sour cream. "No problem" says the girl. Now you know they won't substitute the missing ingredients with the only topping I had remain. So of course I have to ask for extra fake cheese. "No problem" says the girl. $5.98 turns into $7.48. Okay, my grande just became a venti. I'm already paying Starbucks prices for some stale chips and a powdered cheeze that gets hydrated to create a "sauce." So I say to the gal, "Do you think you could just sub the fake cheese for the 5 other more expensive ingredients that I had you withhold? I believe she was about to respond positively but was rudely interrupted by her robotic manager who took over her walkie talkie and proceeded to explain that although I'm only getting 30% of what comes with the menu item ordered, any additional or extra toppings HAVE to be charged at their respective price point. Fast forward two hours: He's dumping 20x the amount that I asked him to substitute, into a black trash bag. Because he's a cyborg and his compubrain can't make an executive decision that falls outside of Taco Bell's handbook. Because common sense and customer service are only in history books now. He did everything right. And for that, I won't be going back. Barf. It's what's for dinner. 1. 'Rare' being a reference to the intervals between my meat eats, not the doneness of said eaten meat. 2. I'm not talking about the occasional finger that gets lopped off during processing, I'm talking intentional dissemination of human meat, you cannibal! - you think I'm joking? Research it. 3. Please note this as being the only ingredient that is seasoned. Makes sense. I mean who wants to eat human if it tastes like Clarice's freshly-lotioned-legs?! 4. They even serve these up with reduced-fat (fat = flavor) sour cream. Yet they don't season the sour cream. And why reduce the minuscule amount of fat in sour cream when you're serving full-fat barf?!

I've been waiting for over 30 minutes for a simple combo order and fries just service is really slow and it's not busy here the people who ordered after me got their food before me... Got refunded didn't want my food at this point I was to anxious to even want to eat and even then they couldn't give me the right amount back after going back and forth and they couldn't even figure out if I even had an order.. I hear it's the worst Taco Bell in the state of Colorado and now I believe it

And apparently the person making this is a very busy individual who is indeed not a Mexican pizza artist. It must be a dying art.

We went back to Uno Mas because we thoroughly enjoyed it last time I was in town…read more Unfortunately, our lovely server, Jenna, told us the chile verde was no longer available. So sad! She went into the kitchen and took a vegetarian red chile and added carnitas. That was above-and- beyond great service! And, it was delicious Give her a raise We also had excellent duck confit and pork belly tacos and black beans. The fish taco wasn't our favorite. She took it off the bill. So not necessary but great customer service. Kevin is always pleasant and kind (and makes a very generous cocktail) even though we come in close to closing time. The vibe is casual and very reasonably priced upscale food. It's one of my two favorite restaurants in Fort Collins. ( The other one is Philippe's for french food.) Looking forward to my next visit.

I got there just before 8 and they were so nice and eager to serve. I went way past the 8pm closing time and they did not rush me. After I found out they kept the place open for me, I was apologetic. And that deserved serious tip! Thank you, all. If I'm ever back in Fort Collins, I know where I'm going!

The salsa was unusual in flavor and came in a very small bowl. Once it ran out, we weren't offered more salsa or additional chips. We originally came in for birria tacos, but at $4.50 each, they felt overpriced. I understand birria is a specialty meat, but the restaurant across the street, Las Delicias, charges $3.25 for the same item. What was more frustrating was the pricing inconsistency -- the takeout menu listed them at $4, while the dine-in menu showed $4.50. When I asked about the difference, I was told I would need to pay the higher dine-in price. Due to the higher prices and inconsistent menu listings, we decided to eat elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're comfortable paying around $16+ for three tacos.

It IS a converted home, cozy and homey and a bit romantic, and is hand decorated by a pretty good local artist. Yes, it was a home once, like about 1970! This location's restaurant history goes back a LLLLOOOONNNNGGG ways though. MY understanding is... for decades Pobre Poncho's (same location) was THE Mexican restaurant of the north end of town and well regarded too. Sometimes, wonder if it was first in town as I drove by it 10,000 times on the way home since the 1980's. I recall more Mexican places eventually opened north of the river and then COVID caused it to close. Change of owners (?) and it reopened with much the same atmosphere and low prices. You do have to park around back by entering via the King Soopers lot access. My faves are the huge burritos starting for around $10. Haven't ever finished one, so it's my midnight snack! ONE WISH? Get the dark mole sauce from Inca down on south college for any dish. That would be perfect!
