This is such a find. We live nearby and never knew this was there…read more It's a tiny shop in the corner of a simple strip mall. You go in through some tables and there is a foodtruck in the back. You order and can sit at one of the tables inside or outside. The owner, Roberto, was so nice. He gave us a couple samples to try. The ceviche was really delicious. We also had a barbacoa plate and a fish taco plate. They make a variety of hot sauces, all from scratch and very fresh. Everything we had was delicious. They have another restaurant in Woodfin that we have yet to try. I am just glad we found this authentic Mexican place!

The menu is simpler - a limited palette. We had the fish tacos, several little tacos autenticos, and fresh guacamole. Perfect. Everything delicious and quickly served. Roberto and his helper were quiet, funny, and gracious. It's December. The sitting room is heated by wood stove - very nicely. The sauces were homemade and fresh. We went home with eight tamales to serve story with wine and appetizers before Christmas dinner. Weaverville is lucky. Do you like the cooking of Gladys or Roberto? Have fun sampling their menus and don't hurry your decision. They are great cooks of authentic Mexican street food.

Honestly we were off to a rough start when somehow the system didn't have our reservation despite us having the email saying we were confirmed and we weren't sure if we were going to be able to have a table, BUT they told us they would def seat us. We did have to wait about 15-20 minutes because they were very busy, but we did get a large table for everyone. Our waitress was very nice and had chill vibes in the best way. They made up for the mix up by giving us a few free appetizers and comping our kid's meals. We were not expecting this and it was a very pleasant surprise. The drinks were good and the food was great too. The food came out hot (it did take about 40 minutes to come out tho) and other than a mix up of chips on my plate instead of sweet potato fries (which they quickly and easily fixed) all the food was exactly how we ordered it. I got the philly cheese steak and the bread was so soft! The sweet potato fries were awesome! We got kids pizza and they destroyed it. I wasn't a huge fan of the garlic mashed potatoes, but that may be just me. I also got the chocolate cake to go and I WISH I HAD GOT 2 slices. It was sooooo good. I would go back just to have another piece. Overall we would def go back and would recommend it to others. We really appreciated the staff's efforts to make sure we had a good experience.

We were seated in a booth near the corner, and it was a great place to visit and talk. I enjoyed the French toast with blueberries and a side of crispy bacon. Just delicious! My friend ordered an entree that had eggs, crab meat, and hash browns and raved about it as well. Service was very good - attentive but not hovering. Highly recommend Stoney Knob Cafe if you're in the area!

Made reservations a week in advance since it is popular & we were coming on a Saturday night. had to call to do this but the staff were quick with the booking. We were staying on the north side of Asheville a few minutes from downtown & this was a quick 12 drive to Weaverille. Place was packed when we arrived 10 mins early for our seating. We waited maybe 3 mins though & were in our booth. The vibe here is something else. Decor is eclectic but layout mimics the vintage diner that it resembles from the outside. Very casual but doesnt necessarily feel that way. Menu isnt extensive so you dont have to fret about too many choices which i personally like. We started off with the seasonal watermelon salad which my wife says is one of her favorite things shes had anywhere in recent memory. I had a side portion of the steak wedge salad. For mains i had the carolina shrimp & grits & my wife got the pot pie. Both were insanely rich & satisfying. Good portions & quality ingredients represented. Even though at this point we were stuffed we had to go for dessert & tried the omg peanut butter pie & the tiramisu. not surprisingly, both were excellent. Apparently they have a dedicated pastry chef who makes the desserts every morning. Service was really good here and my sister in law's friend who was working the bar came over and raved about being employed there which is good to hear. Cant find anything negative to say about this place & you'd be hard pressed to find anybody doing so online really either. Just a local joint serving good food in a fun environment. Highly recommend

We both work in the travel and tourism field so we are constantly traveling and met up here while both were in the area. It was about 3:30-4pm (after 3:30 but not quite 4 yet when we were seated) We both ate and was having drinks while going over some future trips and tours and reviewing recently completed trips. At a few minutes after 5 I had a local errand I had to run in the area across from the parking lot of this establishment. I had dialogue with the waitress that I had to step out for 10 minutes or so and I would be ordering another drink and probably a to go plate when I returned. My colleague worked on his lap top while I ran my errand and before I could make it back the host approached him at the table stating "amigo I need this table I must ask you to pay and leave" It was SO rude and beyond bad customer service that it dove into completely and utterly unprofessional lunacy. I will never eat at a La Carretta here or any other location again!!!! Happy Cinco de Mayo in Marshall is WAY better anyway food! Service! And atmosphere! Oh and their salsa is much better! La Carretta's house salsa is bland and flavorless.
