I wish I could go lower than one star!! I just waited for 30 minutes for my order and walked out because it still wasn't ready. Meanwhile, there are five employees on shift that I saw standing around a dining room table laughing and joking while three cars are lined up at the menu speaker being ignored. Then they cleared out those three cars and all employees disappeared while I'm standing at the counter. Then four more cars piled up at the ordering station in the drive through and got ignored while the kids did whatever. I am not going to lie. Living in the great American SouthWest with abundant fast food Mexican options that are one offs and not part of the corporate giants, I have not been in a Taco Bell in years. That is until unexpectedly today and in the outskirts of Taos, NM. We actually were not hungry or wanting to go here. But after discovering the Taos Visitor Center up the road does not open until 10am and the gas station located right next to the KFC and Taco Bell on this same corner has the unexpected "out of order" sign on their bathroom door, I needed a bathroom or I was going to burst. Insert Taco Bell into my story. Easy restroom and clearly an oasis of sorts at 9am on a random Monday. Now their restroom is not going to get a 5 star review on upkeep, but it is clean and when you have to pee, you have to pee. A big thumbs up Taco Bell and a big thumbs down on my first two stops. Never taking advantage of a fast food establishment restroom without also making a purchase, my husband and I ordered a breakfast burrito and hash browns. We are not even hungry but found these food items hot, freshly made and tasty. Friends and I came to this Taco Bell, one ordered a quesadilla when it was slow and still took 30 mins to make after we had gotten our food.

This was the worst experience I've ever had with fast food. Inside was closed which is fine, so we mobile ordered. When at the drive through the staff stated they didn't have any of the food we ordered and they were about to close. We were in the drive through an hour prior to close. We stated to give us a refund if the food wasn't possible they then changed their mind and told us to pull forward. They decided to make our food after not being able to refund us. too much going on inside and while we were in the drive through, the lady taking our order finally told us to go ahead and give her our order, we told her we want a number 13 then it was silent and we asked if she heard us, and she immediately cut us off and told us to wait. We were asking what was going on and she went off on us and told us "JUST HOLD ON A SECOND, BE PATIENT" then proceeded to ask us for our order again, we asked for a Diet Coke, she failed to acknowledge and we again asked if she heard us. AND again she got pissed and told us they only had Pepsi products. The drive thru shut down because of a computer malfunction. We went inside, got yelled at to use the Kiosk when there were only a couple of people being helped at the front counter. Lots of people in line and the people were on the kiosk for a long time so we decided to go elsewhere. read more

Taos is mostly closed or beyond busy on Tuesday evenings. Taco Bell seemed reasonable to take back to our hotel room. This place actually got our order right, I even had cheese on my most of my tacos. All in all a pretty good last resort when every other place is too full to wait for. read more

That's why I was so surprised to have happy polite staff and get a dinner that was obviously made intentionally not just thrown together like a normal fast food meal. And this was just drive through. This is the best Taco Bell I've ever had. I'm not being hyperbolic but if you are visiting from out of town you need to try this. I'm from the Midwest - so keep that in mind - but the quality of food here is head and shoulders above the other Taco Bells across the country and is the same price. It's not going to be quite the same as a local mom & pop Mexican restaurant but it's comparable... but for the price, location, and variety of the food this is almost a steal. Phenomenal. Very best Taco Bell my wife and I have ever visited. I usually wouldn't even give one a review, but their Nacho Fries were seasoned so well, and the guy gave us so many napkins and hot sauce packets it's crazy. FAIL.......twice!! I have been going to this taco bell for years. Tonight, after a LONG couple of weeks of delivering Christmas cards and gifts (I'm a mail carrier), I decided to drive through on my way home so I didn't have to cook. I ordered a 7-layer burrito, fresco, no sour cream (I am vegan). When I got home I checked my burrito and it had sour cream and cheese. Got back in the car, drove back to Taco Bell and explained my dilemma. They gave me a new burrito and assured me it had no cheese or sour cream. When I got home, I checked again. Yup.....no cheese, no sour cream...no guacamole....no lettuce....ugh. So, I paid for a 7-layer burrito and received a 3-layer burrito with rice, pico, and beans. It SUCKED. So...I can overlook the horrible, horrible customer service (the bright spots that pop up there have been promptly squashed like a cockroach trying to introduce efficiency into the apocalypse). Its not that bad, its a taco bell. The service can be pretty fair,and a mass layoff not to long ago afforded them some good people. Its still always been better then Mcdonalds service, which has been abysmal and hostile. I've never had an employee be rude to me, and in fact, have had employees hand me a very good attitude. Don't be a jerk, and they won't be either. I have had some problems with getting food on time. And a'lot of that comes down to owners and management staffing only two employees at a time. A common practice in Taos. A note on getting meat at a taco bell, What? Its a taco bell, Baja blasts, Doritos locos tacos, and cheap quick burritos. That is what this place is for, an american institution serving the stoner and gaming public alike. If want you real Mexican food, Guadalajara grill or the Koyote Klub are the place for you. The Only reason they get one star is that there are no lower marks. We are regular customers of Taco Bell just about every where we travel. Though we have experienced small issues in the past, none were reason enough to go out of our way to complain.... until now!! Tonight while on our yearly trip to Taos NM. We had the most horrendous experience I think we have ever had at ANY restaurant. I have no words for the service, cold food,and mixed up order; We went through the drive thru and we sat for 5 minutes listening to a young lady take orders in side (no they were not busy) They refused to speak English and acted like they had no idea what we were ordering. There were no utensils for the 2 orders of pintos and cheese, that were COLD, and I repeated myself 5 times on what drinks we wanted with the 2 chalupa combos, the bread was stale and broke when we tried to eat it. We will continue our yearly visits to the beautiful city; however we will never again stop at this Taco Bell. read more
