Oh, and birria too. I put up pictures of the menu so look there. In an old '70s Taco Bell that has been totally blown out and refurbed as far as the kitchen. Comfortable seating. This isn't some joint in a run down location. It's totally new inside. The food was great! I got two birria and a pastor with onion, cilantro, and lime wedge. Several kinds of salsa. Wife got a carnitas burrito bowl. They aren't skirt but still great. The bowl was loaded up and everything is assembled in front of you, so you can say "More onion! More cilantro! Guac and cheese too!" (it's real Mex cheese, shredded) So, it's unique in the area, being exactly what it is, a Tacquerea, serving delicious food to order. This spot is worth a drive. Let's all do the math... Go to that fake place in Boardman on 224 for some $7.00 crunchy tacos, or you can zip up 224, get on Wilmington (like you're going to Edwards or Chuck Tanner's, and Gordo's is on the left) and get some real tacos here. No beer, and no servers in funny shirts, but genuinely great food, so there are trade offs! And the folks making the tacos etc were friendly, the place was spotless, they are in a spot with good parking and easy in and out access. And a mile from my house so, the only reason I didn't get anything to go is, I can go back later. And I will...

El Canelo is just better. the other one is always packed. i'm guessing because it's nice and safe and tastes just like what your Mom who really isn't crazy about all that flavor would like. Hey, I get it! I grew up eating pirogies fried in butter and served with more butter and a big glop of sour cream. It's definitely a filling meal. and then there is El Canelo, i had been just getting to go. they had some good street tacos (only took 40 years, but i get to eat street tacos in the Midwest!) and they cook the most tender (tenderest?) pork i've ever had anywhere. in fact, if you like carnitas on a taco, in a burrito, as part of an adobo, this is it. El Canelo has better carnitas than any other joint and that includes the new place in Boardman! (look it up) Wife got the chimichanga. which she gets literally every single time at every single amex Resaurant we've been too. This time, i tried hers. shredded beef and chicken in the other one. It was thoroughly enjoyable. seriously so. she had one of my soft (not flour tortilla, CORN heated on the flat grill, like was intended!) tacos. AL PASTOR TACOS that i finished. and THAT is the upshot. we both finished our meals completely. even the refritos (refrigerated fritos, look it up) for the first time pretty much ever. i can't remember the last time either of us didn't haul home a styrofoam container full of shredded lettuce and beans and guacamole, just so i could throw it out two days later. now, just one thing, they use some spice in the salsa and guacamole here. the mild salsa is great! the guacamole is great too, but probably spiced up past what you ever tasted in guacamole. the interior is just fine. the food is killer, and the salsa is really great, or really hot. depending on what you get. the pics. sorry, i usually do a better job. but i was hungry. and the wife's chimichangas, bet it's the first time you saw chimis that weren't the size of a large stuffed cabbage. these chimichangas were great. the seasoned beef and the chicken was just so darn goood!

Our guess is that this has been a problem for a long time, considering the number of industrial fans they had running. The guests were doused in sweat, and sadly, by 6:00, most people had left. Unfortunately that's only the beginning of the experience for my family. How truly sad that on my cousin's special day, they celebrated without their guests due to the heat in the building. The bride got a room there the night before. The conditions were so deplorable she didn't stay, and they didn't stay their wedding night either (I believe). When all was said and done, my cousin posted a very honest review on their Facebook page, and the owner verbally attacked her on Facebook and made personal insults. Thankfully we took screenshots, because they somehow managed to hide her review and threatened to take them to court. Beware! This is not the place for your special event!I've never given a business such a poor review, but I'd be remiss if I didn't share our experience, especially having worked in the wedding industry for several years myself.
