My family and I went here recently when we were going to an event in Jacksboro. We would give our…read moreoverall experience there a four 4. When we first walked in, the person working at the bar politely greeted us and welcomed us in, it was refreshing. I'd say our experience with our waitress was between a three and a four. She did provide our food to us and made sure the drinks were refilled, but she wasn't very personable. I ordered the chicken nachos and they were delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed them and would give them a five 5. I loved the white cheese that came with them and their guacamole tasted very good to me. They were listed as an appetizer, and there was enough to clearly share between two or three people, and so I wasn't able to finish them all, but they were very good. The only thing I was disappointed about was that the restaurant did not provide salsa, but the chicken nachos were so good by themselves, I really didn't need that. My husband had a club sandwich and he would give it a four 4. He said it was very meaty and well prepared. He did enjoy their french fries because he said they tasted both hot and fresh. Two children's plates were ordered at our table, the fried catfish and a hamburger , and both of them seemed to like them very well. Overall, I'm glad they were there and that my family and I were able to go in and have a decent meal together while we were out of town. Go north.

The nachos were huge, my chicken sandwich was great, the French fries are tasty, maybe a little soft. The gator was pretty small for the price. The queso was a little thick and the salsa needed a little more flavor, fairly bland. Wait staff was good, kept up well. We had only 1 alcohol drink for the day and it was bad, the bar came over and took care of that, with no charge. The place is nice. I'm sure they will expand their menu soon.

The beef fajitas were lacking in more of a smoky flavor, but I loved the charred onions and green peppers on the platter. The chips were good and it had a dusting of what looked like paprika and I don't think the picante sauce was homemade.

We started with the fried pickles, and they were some of the best I've ever had. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, flavorful, and a great way to kick off the meal. We ordered the sliced brisket plate with potato salad and coleslaw. The brisket was cooked perfectly, lean but still tender and juicy. Both sides tasted fresh and homemade. The coleslaw was especially memorable because it was more savory than sweet, with a subtle hint of cumin that gave it a unique flavor I really enjoyed. We also tried the loaded baked potato with brisket, the sliders, and the mac and cheese topped with burnt ends. Everything was very good. The only item that didn't quite hit the mark for me was the burnt ends, which were a little sweeter than I prefer. Even so, they were still flavorful. Overall, we had a great first experience. Between the outstanding fried pickles, quality barbecue, welcoming atmosphere, and variety on the menu, Hatchet House is a place we'll definitely be coming back to.
