"Nachos" I ordered with a only brisket.

We walked in and they told us to seat ourselves but it's very hard to do that when every open table is full of dishes and dirty. So we went ahead and sat at a dirty table. They then took the dishes and didn't wipe it down. We then had to wait 15 minutes for a server to even look our way. We ordered appetizers, food, and drinks. We had to sit there and wait 40 minutes just for an appetizer even when the tables beside us who got their after us had already gotten everything they ordered. I do understand that it was busy when we first got there but after 15 minutes there was barely anyone there. So i really don't understand why the service would be so terrible. We had to get our food to go because it took so long. I ordered the brisket nachos and they gave me chips with brisket on top, nothing else. This place is ridiculous, I advise you to not waste your time. What kind of place gives someone nachos that only has chips with brisket throw on top. No cheese, no barbecue sauce that I specifically asked for. Ridiculous absolutely ridiculous.

This place has a great selection of items. We tried the chicken plate with two sides and added burnt ends and jalapeño sausage. We tried the potato salad and fried pickles. The meat was great. The chicken was a little dry but had a good flavor. The sausage is fantastic. Both side items were very tasty. I would certainly come back and try some different items. Their desserts look good and very unique.

Update: they now have axe throwing at this location too! Went again tonight (this is only our second time ever) and yet again it was just kind of blah. Tonight was Cajun night and I was excited because the pictures they share on social media are amazing looking. Sadly mine looked nothing like the advertised picture. It was way over cooked and lacked flavor. Many things seems just a little burnt. For as expensive as the plates are there I just expected more. The waitress tried but didn't seem well trained and it was just not very good. This will probably be our last time to give it a shot.

We were very excited to try this BBQ location, the menu and food looked great! Sadly the service was extremely slow, someone even left after not being handed a menu for 15 mins. The food was decent, we got pulled pork and brisket sliders with creamed corn, okra, and beans. The smoked cream corn was the highlight of the meal. The meat wasn't very flavorful but was tender, and the sauce was decent also. Also this location is very expensive, it was $40 for 2 meals. We will be back though because the breakfast looks really good so we will give it a second shot!

Really enjoyed this BBQ. Good service and generous portions. The sausage and brisket were really good.

Our first time at this location, and it did not disappoint…read more We had two servers and they were both great, and communicated when they would be coming around since our area was fairly full. It is a very busy place. The food was so good. We both had steaks, a salad, and poblano cheese grits. Each item was great. The steaks were full of flavor and the grits were great with the steak. If you are unsure like I was get the grits. Being gluten free means no bread or croutons but we didn't miss a thing. I've eaten here many times and I have never had an issue or gotten sick. It is a little hard because they don't have a dessert that could be gluten free. It's an old time country place. The chairs can be a little hard and they are not the most comfortable to sit in for a long time. When you walk in and see it, you know what to expect.

While on business in Mineral Wells this place was recommended for use to try out…read more We started with the Queso w/Brisket and that was a solid choice. Although the queso could have been a little hotter. Our party of four each chose something different. I opted for the Chopped Brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad. It was okay but nothing I thought was fantastic. Those others chose the sliced Brisket, Burger, & the last chose Ribs. The only one who disliked was the Rib order. I believe it was the BBQ sauce that turned him off. It was a very well decorated restaurant and the decor was intriguing. We had two servers Destiny & Caitlyn but were great! Although this was the lunch hour it did seem to take our order longer than necessary to reach our table.

After an early morning flight to DFW, we were halfway through the two-hour drive to the north-Texas…read moretown of Wichita Falls when lunch sounded like a good idea. Initially, I said that I was in the mood for a lighter lunch, but when we read some of the many 5-star reviews for Juan and Allie's BBQ that said things like "I will always come here whenever I am within a six hour drive", I changed my mind. So we pulled off the highway and about a half-mile into the small town of Sunset. I realized we were at the spot when the faint smell of wood smoke trickled to my nose from the side of a weatherbeaten building with a "Backyard BBQ" banner tacked to the front. Walking inside, we were greeted by nods from a table of men in work boots and jeans, and then promptly welcomed by Allie herself. She indicated the day's menu on the board and helpfully answered our questions. The inside dining area was comfortable and homey, even if like the outside it had seen better days. Sagging ceiling tiles and duct tape repairs told the story of getting by and focusing on the important things. It is a real family-run operation, with Juan smoking the meats and Allie making the sides, along with waiting tables. On the day we visited at least, it was just the two of them working. Of course I had to order brisket since it was Texas, but the sides presented a more challenging decision. After hearing Allie's description of their cowboy beans, I chose those and the potato salad. She disappeared into the back room, and soon returned with a large metal tray containing slices of brisket and Texas-sized portions of sides. The brisket was beautifully smoked and sliced, and flavor was perfect. The only deduction I have to make was due to it being a little less tender than I would expect from a great brisket. It went down easily despite having said I was not in the mood for a pile of meat, but I did have to make use of my knife a little more than usual. The sides were big on home-cooked flavor. In both, I noticed a big difference from typical southern or big-name barbecue joints in that they were not overly sweet but relied on more earthy seasonings for their taste. They were excellent complements to the beef, and deserve some recognition of their own. After our meal was done, we chatted with Juan outside for a minute, where we learned some of the details mentioned above. It would have been cool to hear more about their story, but they had work to do and we had to get back on the road. So we pulled back onto the highway, having experienced a friendly welcome to Texas and a satisfying first meal in the Lone Star State.

DELICIOUS! I actually heard about this place from a Reddit post about places to stop on a road trip…read moreacross Texas and I'm so glad I listened! It's home cooked food, calories-not-monitored, but worth every single bite. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I knew it was going to be good when we saw the parking lot was overflowing into the grass. Luckily there was still an open table inside and we were welcomed by the sweetest staff and our waitress was just as wonderful. So many things looked good on the menu, but I couldn't resist ending this road trip with another taste of chicken fried steak to compare to Mary's (and they can definitely compete because it was AWESOME)! We also tried the chicken fried chicken (delicious), sweet potato casserole (amazing), Mae's potato casserole (tasty), cheese sticks (good), and the hamburger and fries which was obviously delicious enough that my picky daughter almost finished it - which says a LOT! We were very glad that we'd ordered the "smaller portions" for lunch because it meant we could grab a few of the desserts to go to snack on for our final leg of the road trip and keep enjoying at home. We tried the toffee cake (incredible), peanut butter cake (sinfully good), and the coconut pie (very light and creamy)! We also snagged some items to take home with us from their coolers and I can 100% recommend their pork tamales and summer sausage. If you get the chance to stop here, you won't regret it at all! Delicious, great service, and good portions!
