Nachos were very filling. I ordered carnitas but got barbacoa delivered. Not one to complain I kept it. It was probably some of rhe best barbacoa I've had. Cool little place with plenty of luchador theme around too. Will definitely be back. My buddy got the birra Ramen and raved about it. So I guess I better try it next time.

My favorite taco was the vegetarian panela cheese taco (packed with flavor!), and least favorite was the chicken special taco...bummer since the chicken tacos were more expensive and only sold in sets of two. If you are a lover of well done birria, this is your place. Craving authentic Mexican food? Yep, this is your place. We started with their chips and salsa. I think you can tell a lot by the salsa at a place. Lemme just say, I was so very happy! Their salsa wasn't too chunky, not too thin and they are not afraid to season and add some heat - but hey, don't worry it wasn't too hot if you've got a dad like mine who isn't a fan of "too much spice." Such a good omen. I couldn't decide which marg to try so ordered a flight. Best decision ever. Even as I write this, I'm still hard pressed to choose a favorite. They were all so good. Add street tacos, quesadillas for my mom, elote cob, and switch fries for my dad and we were all happy campers. The flavors were obscenely good. Staff were amazing and stopped by to make sure we were always taken care of: fast and friendly. Best combo ever. The place is also super cute! Loved the bar and simplicity of the concept. Switchback has a quiet elegance while be so very casual. Perfect in my book.

The wait for a table was about 30 minutes, but we spent the time walking around the area, so it went by quickly. Once seated, we found ourselves in a tiny dining room and bar with walls covered in license plates from different states. We turned it into a fun little "I Spy" game while waiting for our food. We started with the Chips and Salsa Fresca, which was fresh and delicious. For our main meal, we ordered tacos -- the #1 El Diablo, #5 Esteban Special, and #6 Fish Tacos. The chipotle sauce on the El Diablo was phenomenal, and the grilled fish in the fish tacos was some of the tastiest I've had. The staff was fantastic as well. My daughter ordered the Chips w/ Cheese (nachos) from the kids' menu and unfortunately didn't like them at all. When we mentioned it to our server, she genuinely cared and quickly made things right by removing the item from our bill. Next time I'm in Pagosa, I'll definitely be coming back to this gem of a place.
